DLC 19 Speculation

I'm not going to say that I jumped in the air when I saw it, but after checking ZooTierliste and seeing that 74 US zoos have them it does redeem them a bit for me. That's a large amount of zoos that have them, and it includes the more big ticket zoos like Jacksonville, Fort Worth and Phoenix Zoo, so I'm feeling less "meh" about it now. It's one of those: "if I want to make a realistic American zoo I should probably put these in" picks.

Like sure I wanted a bush dog more but I can see the benefit of having them in the game?
And the few French parks that have them seem to have started regularly breeding them and sending them to other zoos, it's not as unrealistic for European zoos as some other animals could have been either.
Btw I'm a fellow bush dog enjoyer, it's the only canid I really want even now ahaha.

I recognize American flamingos are the more likely and useful option, but seeing the Andean and Chilean proposed as alternative makes me want to pin my hopes on the James's flamingo, with a similar ecology. View attachment 424178

To me, it's most distinct from the greater flamingo, genetically and apparently with the contrast around the beak/eyes and bright red patches. Otherwise the American looks just like the greater in pattern with the saturation turned up tbh. Hard to argue against the Caribbean and very limited NA rep from the American flamingo though, especially since the Caribbean has so few habitat options.
Ooh that's pretty.

I feel like the flamingo gives the best opportunity for a herding behaviour update. What's more flamingoey than everyone strutting together in a big circle? Handbags in the middle! (Brits will get this joke).

Unpopular opinion: Instead of another flamingo, something more unique, like the super underrated jabiru, would have been a better choice.
I mean come on it’s two legged dinosaur and we could really use a stork of any kind.

I don't really see Frontier adding such a niche animal, especially when two much more common alternatives exist... Why would they pick this species over Chilean or Cuban/American/Caribbean?
It's only found in one or two zoos in the world, both in Europe, and unlike other weird picks (Saiga, Proboscis Monkey) it isn't even particularly iconic or with an interesting conservation story, it's just kind of there.
It looks unique, but to me it would absolutely ruin this pack

My opinion on this pack keeps fluctuating.
I really hope we see the roster tomorrow so I can give my final judgement - although I don't think it's gonna be too positive
My is an Schorindger state: how end up feeling about this pack heavily relies on the last two undisclosed animals. If they are indeed coati and mara this will become my favorite pack in a long time (despite the flamingo and the coyote).

I am happy for the people who wanted it and I get why its somewhat requested but personally I don't love building for dogs (still haven't built for the striped hyena even though its one of my favs irl) plus don't love building NA sections so mix those together and I just really don't know what to do with it. Looks good though from the keyart.

I do enjoy building desert areas and i've always wanted a Mexican DLC, but the coyote was never part of my desired roster lol

I think roadrunners are super cool. They are actually one of my favorite irl birds. If we get a roadrunner instead of a mara i can't be mad. Or a burrowing owl. They are all high in my personal wishlist.

Whiche reminds me i've never posted this:
