DLC 19 Speculation

If I had to pick, I'd take the walrus over the sea otter but I'd like to see both of them.

Before we got the Eurasia Animal Pack I came up with a concept for a Polar/Tundra Animal Pack with this roster:
  1. Wolverine
  2. Walrus
  3. Muskox
  4. Sea Otter
  5. Southern Rockhopper Penguin
  6. Siberian Musk Deer
  7. Red-Breasted Goose
Obviously the wolverine would need to be switched out, not sure what for though. I also didn't include an exhibit animal but I guess now we could easily include some scenery instead maybe based of Native North American architecture.

An arctic hare or a shore bird would work pretty well instead of the wolverine imo
The hare especally also got all that marketable goodness to easily be the face of the pack

Like Konig said replace the Wolverine with the Arctic hair or shorebird. Personally I would also replace the Siberian musk deer with another animal for the southern oceans. Maybe another pinniped like the South American sea lion? Going off your list maybe something like this?

  1. Walrus ⭐
  2. Muskox
  3. Sea otter
  4. Atlantic puffin/ Horned puffin/ Tufted Puffin
  5. Red breasted goose
  6. South American sea lion
  7. Southern rockhopper penguin

I don’t think Walrus and sea otter cancel each other out they should both be in for their own merits a coastal pack would go hard

Coastal animal pack

Walrus
Sea otter
Pelican
Green Sea turtle
Coconut Crab
Rockhopper penguin
Marine Iguana

Puffins would be cool but I don’t think we’ll get them in PZ1

What would be is your biggest fear about the next pack? Tell me your thoughts
I don't know if its a fear, because its almost certain but for me it would be: no dog-like animals. I miss having new canids but maybe even an aardwolf could be cool. I know that I am in the minority, though...

If Frontier would finally do another Latin America pack, Bush Dog has a decent chance I think.

Because we have had more cats lately I would like the bush dog. As I’ve stated before though, it really depends on the rest of the pack.

Like the last thing I would want is a pack returning to Latin America that is somehow low or without birds and/ or monkeys.

Honestly would be pretty open to another canid or dog-like animal, bush dog would fit Latin America and another one for Africa would be alright, Aardwolf, Jackal, Bat-Eared Fox any of them would be cool, my preference would be the jackal because they are a more unique size compared to another fox and we already have two hyenas

Yeah trying to come up with a realist Latam pack that we should expect from frontier i think it would be something like this:

1. Ocelot
2. Bush dog
3. Southamerican tapir
4. Vicuña
5. Greater rhea or american flamingo
6. Patagonian mara (or very unlikely but second bird)
7. Squirrel or howler monkey

I think that both mustelids and canids have the biggest chance at getting representation on the next pack. The ABB has a decent chance too. For me I realy don't want another cat to have a spot in the next dlc, specially with the cat overload that we got recently(not to say I didn't like the inclusions, more so that we got to many for my liking). Maybe I could see the ocelot if we get a SA/Americas pack, but we'll have to wait.

I think that’s fairly accurate. I wouldn’t hate it! My personal (somewhat realistic pack) would be something like this:
  1. Squirrel monkey
  2. Howler monkey
  3. Ocelot
  4. Bush dog
  5. Greater rhea
  6. American flamingo
  7. Red footed tortoise
We have now had a pack with two birds, and another with two primates. The American flamingo and Greater Rhea are super easy clones with a lot of appeal. Likewise the howler monkey and squirrel monkey could easily use the capuchin rig and wouldn’t need tough animations like the spider monkey would. Ocelots and bush dogs give two Carnivora. While I think the red footed tortoise is a super easy choice as both an oddball and further pack diversity.

Of course these are all animals that have easy to use and ready rigs. Something like the Patagonian mara, tropical duck, Ibis, or spider monkey, may require changes to rigs or new ones entirely. Which I don’t expect at this point. I think it’s possible to use the mara on the capybara rig, but at that point I think Frontier would do the agouti.

Bit late to the party but here's a slightly alternative roster for a coastal / islands pack. Going with 7 habitat animals and imagining some N American beach and marina-themed scenery.

Sea Otter

Pack headliner and understandably, favourite coastal mammal for many. They do well in captivity when well cared for and provided with lots of enrichment and moving water. Would really need some unique animations to make them worth having in the game: floating on back, carrying pups, holding hands and tapping shellfish would be ideal and if implemented, could represent PZ's best work.

Hawaiian Monk Seal

A tropical climate seal on the verge of extinction. Very uncommon in captivity but the need to conserve them means that there are some kept at research aquariums, although they are not on display. I'm putting it in the pack because there is an increasing conservation need to protect, breed and rehabilitate them, and because they fit well with the game mechanically.

Black-tailed Deer

The more coastal alternative to the white-tailed, preferring to skirt the edge of forests rather than dense growth. Gives us an American deer with a range along the Pacific line from Alaska to California. Looks similar to the beautiful mule deer with ears almost as large.

Falkland Steamer Duck

Very large, non-flying duck native to...you guessed it, the Falkland islands. It was a toss up between this and the non-flying Galapagos cormorant for me, but this would give us a duck/goose base. Beautiful colouration with some slight variations. Does well in captivity, living up to 20 years.

Grandidier’s Vontsira

Small, rare carnivoran that inhabits a very small coastal range of Madagascar. Looks like a mongoose but is more closely related to the fossa. There are a few species of vontsira, including the very beautiful ringtailed vontsira, but this is the beach-dwelling cousin. Love its floofy tail and I am a sucker for small, unusual carnivorans so here ya go, this is a Villanelle pack after all we gotta have some stripey bandits.

Waigeou Cuscus (Waigeou Island, Indonesia)

The most leftfield choice here and I don't doubt a highly unlikely pick for Frontier. Just here to raise awareness of it really. I love how extraterrestrial it looks, like a gecko-cat wearing prada. From a small Indonsian island. There are possibly none of this especially rare and beautiful subspecies in captivity anywhere, but other cuscus are increasingly being kept and bred for conservation purposes as most are critically endangered. I'd prefer a cuscus to a tree kangaroo personally, I find them very interesting. Has a prehensile tail, eats flowers and would really liven up any nocturnal house.

Brown Pelican

My preferred pelican due to its wider Americas range and beautiful plumage. The smallest pelican species, it does well in captivity.

I'm not including a sea turtle, much as I love them. They are very difficult to reproduce and keep happily in captivity. They are best kept as rescues / hatchlings for the purposes of rehabilitation. Most specimens in aquariums are temporary residents who will be released back to the wild. The Hawaiian seal is in pretty much the same boat except that sea turtles migrate...I don't like heavily migratory species in zoos. I do understand why they are on so many people's lists though, they're absolutely beautiful animals and I was lucky enough to swim with one once - probably an Olive Ridley - in the sea off Sri Lanka. Long may they live in the wild.

It's a really great series isn't it?! Loving it
This+mammals have made me retake my hobby of watching documentaries, and both are great!

A pelican, sea otter and a duck?! Say no more, you have my money!!! Love the addition of the vontsira, monk seal and the addition of a NA deer. Cuscus could help to boost the marsupial roster and the nocturnal roster, and feels like the oddball that frontier would do. This is a peak pack and worthy competition for wetlands and grasslands. Agree with you over the sea turtle, and even if they cand "walk" on land, they're mostly aquatic, so I think frontier wants to hold them for the sequel. Overall, great work @Villanelle! 👏

I had a dream last night that the next DLC had a Sailfish in it?!?!

That is the only thing I can remember but could you imagine the chaos if frontier did something so wild in the next pack 😂

How would people feel about the next pack being something like a "nocturnal" pack that gives us mostly smaller species to build out a nocturnal house plus some building pieces to go with that block the light out more too.

Not a DLC roster but some animals I could see fitting here:

Greater bilby
Spotted Quoll
Sugar Glider
Most of Australia's possums
Opossum
Aye aye
Coyote
Bandicoots and Bettongs
More bat species - I would love to see micro bats implemented somehow!! .
Owl species, I could see them gliding perch to perch.
Most of the civet species
Kinkajou
Mole
Ocelot
