DLC 19 Speculation

And, even better? Assuming a Planet Zoo sequel leverages the same engine... PC2 will be a pretty nice guinea pig and we can hopefully build off some of the QoL improvements over the next year or two and have a much better base game from the jump.
That is exactly the big problem of Planet Coaster 2. We all assumed that all the knowledge and improvements made through the years to Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo would be reflected in PC2 but they are not. It seems that they have started from scratch and completely ignored all the previous work. Hopefully they can bring all those missing features and fixed as soon as possible so that PC2 becomes the game it deserves to be.

I think it's a little unfair to say they've "started from scratch" because they've implemented a few things that have been requested for years (e.g., fixed pathing, foliage brush, scaling, more flexicolor options) and I think a lot of the things people are missing will be added eventually. I doubt they're ignoring it. It's just weird to have a sequel to a game that excludes a number of key features/additions that people have grown accustomed to the last 5+ years with Planet Zoo...

My hope is that by the time PZ2 drops, PC2 will have been the guinea pig and they can just build off that. Haha.

I don’t care if I have used images like this before, I think if Frontier decides to keep working on DLCs a simple bird dlc would be great. No we obviously can’t have full flying aviaries, and as others like Iben have pointed out while great for mods the current flying system GreatCakes uses might be a bit too much for an average player.

Still, I think a simple system like some special enrichment items would be great. Nest stands are one example:
1731350549512.jpeg

Nest stands and maybe one or two perching items, then birds can “fly” up to them. It’s really just a special jumping animation. Would a dlc like this work for macaws, eagles, toucans, hornbills, and other similar flying birds? No. But it could work for any number of these animals:
  1. Secretary bird
  2. Stork species
  3. Spoonbill species
  4. Ibis species
  5. Whistling ducks and perching ducks
  6. Puffin species
  7. Burrowing owls
  8. Turkeys and other pheasants/ game birds
Basically if the bird spends a bit more than 1/2 the time on the ground (or swimming in the case of puffins) it can use the perching items. For the nest stands (like the one in the image) it would be more for the storks and secretary birds and count as a form of housing enrichment.
1731350988901.jpeg

It would be the equivalent to the Aquatic pack, with a huge new gameplay feature and animal interactions. Do I expect to see something like this now? No. But going off the conversation about “high effort DLCs” and Frontier possibly planning to continue to make more DLCs for Planet Zoo I think something like this would be massively well received. Do I actually expect it? No. It would be cool though.

After what @Fallax said about a dream pack she had, I started to think that maybe we could get a pack of animals that are below and above the equatorial line. As much as I would love a SA pack, I don't think the last two pack would be revisits to some areas, more so I think that the packs would be centered in specific enviroments and "zoo terms". As for the imaginary pack, I tried to be as realistic as possible. As much as would like lots of new animals, with new models I think that frontier isn't going to something spectacular, even if it's one of the last packs. So here's the pack!
Southern animal pack: all animals that are in this pack live below the equatorial line. I added two birds (one easy and one more tricky), a primate, some ungulates, an unsual pick for a carnivore and a flagship animal. As for scenery I would imagine some new plants (like kelp, but more on that when we talk about the animals), some new mesh, new paths, new fences, some decorations/buldings from the area and maybe a zoo golf cart.
1.Goodfellow's tree kangaroo: I don't think that frontier is going to pass on this guy much longer. It could help boost the oceanian roster and it's easly marketable for it's cuteness, so wouldn't be surprised for it's inclusion. Easly the flagship animal.

2.Cape fur seal: This is the weird carnivore. For the longest time I wanted to add another pinniped to the roster. It's a fur seal for me or the walrus. And tho they look quite similar to the californian sea lion, they're diffrent enough (at least to me). Also, they live in kelp forest, so I think that frontier could add some type of enritchment item in form of keelp. Also, they could make distinct the males from females.
1731360214531.png

3.Secretary bird: Also don't see frontier not adding the most requested bird. It's beatiful and, if frontier put hard work on it, I think they could pull off it nicely. Add the kicking snake animation and I'm amuse.

4.Banteng: Couldn't find much asian hoofstock that live in below the equatorial line, but this one did and it's kept at a fair number of zoos. An easy clone to cut some slack to frontier. Wouldn't mind it.

5.Greater kudu: One of the few african ungulates I realy want (eland and duiker beeing the other), it's fairly common at zoos and very majestic ungulate. Again, easy clone to cut some slack to frontier.
Plants, insects and animals: Greater kudu

Source: https://plantsinsectsandanimals.blogspot.com/2018/10/greater-kudu.html
6.Black spider monkey: The primate of the pack and a NW monkey, there's nothing to complain here. I think that with some easy to make animals, frontier could pull off their tail animation.

7.Rockhopper penguin: A lot of people want another flamingo, but if we're getting an easy to make bird I would love another penguin, specially one that could have enritchment with the king penguin. It's has always felt strange to just make a habitat for them. Would love to see som hopping animations. Also love it's hair.

Then we would have the rhea as an anniversary animal and the Northen animal pack that it would include the musk ox, sea otter, ABB, coati (no specific species), muntjac, slender-snouted crocodile and mandarin duck.

As much as I absolutely adore all the animals on this pack, I can't help but feel like the animals in this pack are a little too disconnected. Although, we did just get the zoo keeper animal pack so maybe it's not as out there as it sounds lol.

So I will give my takes on a North and South pack based off of equatorial line and people's concept

Southern Animal Pack
Geoffrey's Spider Monkey
Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Lowland Anoa
Greater Rhea
Patagonian mara
Short-Beaked Echidna
Southern Tamandua
(Walk-Exhibit Animal): Linnaeus Two-Toed Sloth

Northern Animal Pack
Pacific Walrus
White-Nosed Coati
American Black Bear
Secretary Bird
Mandarin Duck
Musk Ox
Reeves Muntjac
(Exhibit Animal): King Cobra

Might as well get in on this wishlist stuff while it’s going. I thought of a pack idea that is a bit more unique; figured I’d give it a shot:

Planet Zoo: Ambassador Animal Pack
We’ve been with the kids, we’ve been with the keepers, lets see what our caretakers are up to with the Planet Zoo: Ambassador Animal Pack!

8 Friendly Species
Learn about some of the amazing species of the animal kingdom up close and personal as our caretakers greet you with some new faces!

Goodfellows Tree Kangaroo
1731384850867.jpeg

A cuddly face among many, tree kangaroos mostly love to chill in the trees by either sleeping or just wandering around the tops of the forest.

Patagonian Mara
1731384879300.jpeg

Even with its bizarre appearance, the Mara is a quirky native of South America known for its oddly skimmed legs that help it run at faster speeds.

Southern Tamandua
1731384907889.png

Known as the “lesser anteater”, tamanduas much like their larger cousins, are known for their unusually long tongues that they use for slurping of insects of all sorts.

White Faced Saki
1731384940858.jpeg

Jumping wall to wall, one of the most energetic species of primate on the planet - saki monkeys are an amazing species to observe, from their endless energy to the males bright colours - just wow!

Watusi
1731385007980.jpeg

Not all ambassadors are small! While some may see this animal as a regular species of cattle, the Watusi specifically holds an important place in communities of all sorts as they symbolize wealth and power.

Serval
1731385037275.jpeg

A beautiful cat with so many similarities to others in its family, yet so many differences that set it apart. Servals are used a lot in ambassador settings because of their more calm demeanour in more public settings.

Grey Crowned Crane
1731385066659.jpeg

While some larger birds do tend to put guests on edge sometimes, it is also important to highlight their beauty, and having a more docile species of bird like the colourful Grey Crowned Crane is a perfect fit for the job!

50+ Educational Scenery Pieces
Alongside the assortment of new animals coming your way you will also have access to an arrangement of over 50 new educational pieces ranging from fossils, displays, new info boards, and new plants to educate your guests!

Okay. This pack rules. Hah. I could quibble about the monkey species (tamarin would be a much better fit) and I'd almost prefer another goat species to the watusi but... I'd love this exactly as it is. And the scenery is perfect.

The million dollar question, though: Would this come with a free update that somehow allows these animals to be actual ambassador animals in some way, shape, or form?

I would love to see animal ambassadors sort of like how the keepers can hold exhibit animals during talks.

ways it could be implemented
  • have it be a trait you can assign to animals to have people "donate" to their wild relatives giving you conservation credits instead of money when donating to the zoo or have a seprate donation box that functions the same
  • have it be like exhibit talks where the keeper handles and shows off the animal to guest for conservation credits and education.
  • introduce the concept of educational bird, reptile, marine shows where like in real life they can be used to educate people on how the animals live by showcasing natural behaviours of the animals.
  • add a media campaign system where displaying animals can raise funds and awareness for their wild counterparts and also add to marketing

As much as I absolutely adore all the animals on this pack, I can't help but feel like the animals in this pack are a little too disconnected. Although, we did just get the zoo keeper animal pack so maybe it's not as out there as it sounds lol.
I think that Frontier wants to reach as many fans as possible, hence why I think that Frontier is going to make a pack that could include alot of animals.

A bit mammal heavy but having a rodent, primate, marsupial, and an anteater balances it out a lot! I would be a fan of it.

Would i use a bull, a passive aggressive little guy with knifes for fingers, a large terror chicken, a skittish rodent and the perhaps ugliest monkey common in zoos as ambassador animals? Questionable
Would this pack still rock? Oh defenetly
If we are just talking about a random grabback pack, add a king cobra as the exhibit and your golden.
And for an actual ambassador pack a corn snake or another docile snake would be neat, otherwise are beardies very common as actual animal ambassadors and this rules

Almost all the animals I chose are used for ambassador programs in zoos. I personally have done a wild encounter with a herd of Watusi where you could stand close to the fence and toss them lettuce.

Excuse u? Sakis are awesome looking

Oh thats very cool, most zoos i know only have rather small animals as ambassadors, the largest i know is a handraised cheetah but most of them tend to be smaller, binturongs, lynx, small cats, penguins, etc with my local zoo having an ASCO as its main ambassador for the longest time.

And yeah while i adore the saki, with them being my most wanted new world monkey i do think that they are perhaps not the most generally attractive monkey, with something like squirrel monkeys tending to be much more popular
