DLC 19 Speculation

That is true, TBH I feel like if there is gonna be some “big update” it would be something like:
  1. Herding mechanics
  2. Fixes to climbing
For smaller updates I’m pretty much expecting changes to the tortoise sizes. Or at least stuff similar to that.
Add walkthrough Emu, peafowl colormorphs and (I’m hoping) a brown Giant Panda with a change to their species appeal being the highest in the game??? (Please frontier I’ve been begging for this for years now)

We have gotten a relatively big update recently with the petting zoos and change in walkthrough habitats with the barnyard pack 2 updates ago. People seem to act like we’ve only had small additions when that was relatively recent. Do I think or count on something big happening? No, but I won’t act like it has been FOREVER since an update happened
I think it all depends on what you call "a big update". The last 4 updates have been more of a single feature update compared to the ones before them where you'd often have multiple things coming all at once.

So I kinda get the sentiment really, whilst the gift shops and the petting zoo mechanics are really cool, I do miss the days where we got more substantial updates in terms of content. Especially since I do feel like there is still room for smaller individual updates that can come alongside a bigger feature. Stuff like:

  • Making the India set flexicolor
  • Allowing custom audio to be played during a education talk
  • Null walls for exhibit boxes
  • Visibility toggle on null fences
  • ...

Well. Yes and no?

Last year they said Zookeepers wasn't the last DLC, last month they said that we'd get news for PC players in the next Unlocked. It doesn't take a degree in rocket science to know that that means they're going to tease something, either a DLC or a new update.
They know we're going to be watching the next stream with our forks and torches ready 😁😁

And then in the following stream in April they might say they are working on another dlc so that we can put the forks and torches down.

They’ve definitely learned how wild the community can be. I’m glad they are a bit more open than they used to be

There are rumours as well that JWE3 is not comming out when it was supposed to come out. That and the devestating release of PC2 kind of puts pressure on PZ to perform extra well, because money has to come from SOMEWHERE at this point.
Where are the rumors coming from? I'm believing you that they're out there but... I'm curious and want to see what the rationale is, etc.

I still think the pack we are still getting was always planned and just swapped places with the last pack (which would have been the zookeeper pack). However, I do think they are really thinking about producing more DLCs now due to the things mentioned above.
This is exactly where my head is at too! I almost feel like some of the "celebration" pieces were originally meant to be part of the free update. There's just nothing really "Zookeeper"-y about the items and they usually stick pretty closely to the pack name. There's some oddball pieces here or there but... Party balloons, signs, and tents don't really give "zookeeper" vibes. In contrast, it matches the "celebration" vibe of the anniversary.

I still love them. I just feel like there was a pivot somewhere toward that.

We will see what we get, and we might hear if we got more. I know we keep saying this. But say we do get some large pack. Like we get something like an arboreal pack with double the normal animals and we get a bunch of birds in the WTE. Then I will safely assume it’s done. Or maybe it’s a bird pack, or Americas, or another World Wide theme.

If it’s another normal sized pack I am not assuming anything, until we get confirmation or more or not.
I'm definitely skewing more toward us getting a "regular"-sized pack again. And like I noted above, I'm still almost feeling like some things got switched around... And this next pack will have some items that "feel" a bit more "general zoo."

A bigger pack would be awesome, and we're about ~1 month longer between packs than we were all last year but I'm not sure a bigger one is in the cards.

Either way - unfortunately, I don't think we'll hear about this pack being the last or not until the April Unlocked. But hopefully the pack and update content will give us some clues as to whether or not it might be the last one...

There are so many smaller things they could do / add that would make the game infinitely better. Making the India set and a few of the other base game sets flexicolor, adding null signs, null walls for exhibits, different billboard sizes/shapes, etc.

I'm always excited to see what we have coming but I'd tend to agree: It'll probably be on the smaller side.

Another thing I just realized: The next console DLC releases the same day as the livestream. So it might wind up being a similar day. Post about the new console DLC in the AM, remind PC players they should still be tuning into the Unlocked, etc. I'm really curious to see how they deal with the tease this time around. I'm expecting it to be the same bit as the Zookeeper's pack but hoping for a bit more.

Also curious what they'll say about the remaining console DLCs and updates (mostly because that might reveal a bit about what is/isn't planned for Planet Zoo PC).

Eh, I think you're overthinking it. There was nothing "Parkmanager"y about the "Parkmanager Pack" either, it's just what they call the players of the game. Combine it with giving us highly requested animals (as mentioned in the marketing) just like they did with JWE2; I think we're just looking at our PZ equivalent.

Yeah. The only pack that didn't got a big update feature alongside it was Zookeeper's irc.

I can't remember anyone at Frontier saying "A LOT" of things to come still. I'm pretty sure it was "a little bit" - which would have been true.
Planet zoo is a safe money maker whilst yes there are a ton of novel animals that would make the game incredible we are at the point where packs can be very low effort given the amount of starting points they have and the constant demand for very similar animals ie black buck, bear, cranes and deer. As they make more packs the next gets easier to make so there really isnt a point to stopping pack development till it actively gets in the way or becomes unviable financially which wont happen anytime soon since we are very likely beyond the initial hype.

Ah i see. Im pretty out of the loop, but glad to see we might finally get some news. Not even that excited about getting a dlc on its own as i havent played in a while and it would need a true banger dlc or update (ability to toggle of hitboxes on objects would be a god send) to pull me back in. Still one of my favorite games, but i simply moved on to other games and hobbys for the time being and "speculation" was just plain exhausting as it was the same few idears for what? 2 years now? Without much mix up? Yeah no that aint fun to say the 1098th "We need South america and birds and monkeys", just increasingly more and more frustrating

So barnyard and zookeepers currently haven’t been announced as a console dlc, leaving me to believe frontier will give us at least 2 dlc this year or one big one.
Unfortunately I won’t be able to watch the livestream as I will be busy. I hope it’s more than the teaser we got last time and had to wait 2 weeks. Regardless if that happens again I will be able to devote time to planning with what animals we can see that are shaded.

They’ve created roadmap not only for new PC2 but also for elite so I’d like to see the same treatment for PZ if they really have any plans for the future.
There’s not only us interested there are also console people who expect the game to continue only a year after original console release.
Hopefully they will give us one during the unlocked and honestly out of all the frontier games planet zoo needs it the most for 2 reasons 1 our community falls to pieces the second we are left to speculate if more is coming and 2 because we have 2 main streams of info console and pc there is alot of news and confusion for the different players,

Check out BestInSlots video (Youtube) about that a couple of days ago, he layed it out better than I could now.

If you're open to mods: Planet Zoo Plus deals with the hitbox issue. You can toggle off the other features by editing the txt file. If I can do it, you can do it, it's as easy as that. And the mod does NOT break with updates. Not gonna lie, the hit boxes and some of the space requirements sucked the fun out of building for me prior to using this mod. I'd love an official solution, but I don't see us getting one.

I've just checked this out on Nexus, it mentions animal size changes. Do you know which sizes it changes?
