DLC18 discussion and predictions

Guys, what do you think of the following pack as the next one considering it would be the final one and therefore larger? I've taken a look at the meta whishlist and try to especially close the South American gaps, I also put some more "oddball" choices like the deer (which still isn't low in the wishlist though). Not sure if this one is realistic because there are probably quite a few complicated rigs but with a bear, cat, hoofstock and a ratite I tried to also put some "more simple" animals in it (and yes I know, creating a new animal for video game is not easy even if it's a "clone").

Around The World Animal Pack (11 + 2)
1. Secretary bird
2. South American coati
3. Black howler monkey
4. Hamadryas baboon
5. Ocelot
6. Great white pelican
7. Greater rhea
8. Musk ox
9. Spectacled bear
10. Indian blackbuck
11. Pere David's deer
12. Panther chameleon (E)
13. Spectacled cobra (E)

Honourable mentions: Patagonian mara, American black bear, Caribbean flamingo, walrus, tree kangaroo
about monkeys i would rather get spider monkey as new world monkey and langur or gelada as old world one, i get that spider m. would be harder to implement technically but still

It seems like PlanCo dictionary got updated by Frontier somewhere in late 2023 based on Forum comments.
Hayo all!
I use PlanCo in my zoo but haven't been checking the PlanCo Dictionary (https://www.planetcoaster.com/planco-dictionary) recently, but it seems that the dictionary has a huge update with a lot of Planet Zoo words! Last time I checked they weren't there!

Hope this helps for you all and sorry if I bumped a tread, but I didn't want to open a new one while it was being discussed here...
You are right, thanks a lot for the great news!! Now we have translations like "grasslands" and "babirusa" that clearly weren't before. It must be a very recent update, from this year with the Oceania or Eurasia DLCs.
[Happy in the outside but worried in the inside about this being another sign of the game's doom in the short term]

Blasphemy. We must get the American black bear and the spectacled bear. We have all the Panthera (no, not the band), we must get all the Ursus plus glasses bear
if we had another year of dlc support sure, but the spots are really limited and s america biodiversity can be supported with better picks, like i would rather get two monkeys

Thanks for sending this! Based on the methods they used I'm not sure this is the best determinator to see what's new... They pulled the info directly from the education boards. So it's only what they could find in-game which is just gonna have animals that we have on the roster anyway.
I tried to look on different internet archive and no one did archive this website.
Same, haha. Bummer... BUT there's nothing stopping us from checking to see what's not in-game anyway! Seems like we've already found some gold... Hopefully not fool's gold. LOL

I mean official dictionary didn't get update till somewhere in 2023 so hard to look up for anything else.
Either way, it's easy to assume official one been around since he stopped updating the Excel spreadsheet, so maybe around Tropical Pack?

I like how the JWE2 got a major tease yesterday and it has added like half a page to their speculation thread. And then you look over here
Half the pack is effectively already decided, Megalodon, and Smilodon from Camp Cretaceous. A mammoth seems likely being the core of the ice age, leaving a single spot, probably Woolly Rhino/Elasmotherium, or maybe a ground sloth (Megatherium, Eremotherium, Megalonyx). Many would put Paraceratherium or Kelenken there, possibly even a Dodo.

Quite a few were vocally against Mammals generally, others just wanted a larger species pack from them, I would think quite a few disappointed about the prospects beyond Megalodon.

There is post from 3 years ago on reddit with everything updated seemingly till grasslands animal pack. There are words like maned, caracal, armadillo, raccon, wombat, but no sloths, addax, sandcat and quokka. So baboons, eagles, macaws, dolphins, godfellows, secretary are recent post 2023 additons lol.

Baboon spider, eagle ray, macaw palm tree, dolphinfish, Goodfellow's tuco-tuco, and a new secretary staff member confirmed.

I scrolled through the dictionary a bit more, and found some interesting words. Here's a list of anything that may mean something:

  • Baboon
  • Bearded (Bearded dragon?)
  • Civet
  • Coral
  • Cricket (???)
  • Impala
  • Echidna
  • Eel
  • Goodfellow
  • Hamadryas
  • Hornless (not sure what this could refer to)
  • Javan (there's more location words, but usually they refer to a specific species, perhaps Javan banteng/rhino???)
  • Kraken (mythical animals confirmed!)
  • Leafy (Leafy sea dragon??? Wild wild guess, could also be a plant)
  • Lemming
  • Lizard (generic term, and we have lizards, but none are called so)
  • Macaw
  • Moray
  • Moth
  • Octopus
  • Parrot
  • Saharan (probably irrelevant)
  • Salmon (maybe as a feed)
  • Python (see next)
  • Reticulate (Reticulated python?)
  • Screamer (southern screamer?)
  • Sumatran (same as Javan)
  • Swallow
  • Tick (lol)
  • Turtle (we have turtles, but none of them are called that)
  • Unicorn
  • Vulture

There's also animal names like pigeon (not sure why, maybe the dodo), hedgehog (we have a bush in that shape), mouse that I don't think mean anything.

Now I obviously don't think all of them mean anything, especially the marine or mythical creatures and flying birds, but it's interesting that all or most of these weren't on the old list (I checked for most).

There's also one more word which could refer to a species, but it could also be an innuendo, and the other part of the species name is missing.

That dictionary is weird, huge shame its not on the wayback machine, other wise we could see when certain words were added. If this is actually a leak that is very funny but I'm going to take it with a massive grain of salt.

Also the talk about another Africa pack? Well if it does end up being ungulate heavy... I will riot if the best African ungulate doesn't make it.

I don’t think it’s gonna be a Cenozoic pack, I think it’s gonna be a small and big pack, 2 really large species and 2 cute and small species, that way Microceratus can fit in.

Thanks I was halfway in doing this. I would add:

-Anaconda
-Cobra
-Eel

I'll add more if I come up on.

I just like to to point out that Bearded could also be something to do with the last animal on your list, who knows 👀
