Ugh. Honestly, since we can expect that this time it is indeed the last DLC (because I don't see anything release that close to Planet Coaster 2), I kind of want to be "done with it". As in, just knowing what last official animals we get. I don't have extrem high wishes on my bucket list, but at the same time the last pseudo leak showed me that I can indeed still be disappointed. So I'd rather know now what we are in for than ruminate for weeks further and involuntarely do get my hopes up for something bigger. As in less clone animals and ore animals in general, not as in birds. Don't make me believe in a walrus....

Ay walrus is a good pinniped, god I wanna make a Arctic/Ice Zone with King Penguin, Polar Bear, Walrus and the Modded Atlantic Puffin and Sea Otter.

I have not downloaded any mods. The moment it is confirmed no more dlc, then I will begin downloading. A good amount of animals I want are on nexus mods.
Just invest now dude!!!! The current mods right now are spectacular with rarely any bugs!! Also I have 0 problems with mods even when I buy the new DLC and Free Update and they have been in there ever since I got mods in october. Just get the same Mod when it updates to stay with date and you have infinite replay ability with new mods coming every day or week!

East Javan Langur, Palawan Pheasant, Papuan Hornbill, Cormorant and the Smilodon mod are my current favorites!!

Only mod i have install is the lion remaster because god i can't stand looking at that male base game lion and how cartoony it looks. But i have a long list of download es mods and mods that are my tracking that haven't installed yet. I'm also waiting for the end of support to install them all.

Why tomorrow when the day after is the stream? šŸ˜
I'm guessing the guy that does the Twitter posts was busy at Gamescom (I would think it's mostly the social media team at events).

Alternatively it might be the case that there just isn't a stream this month, but surely they wouldn't miss an opportunity to talk about Elite Dangerous (looking on their twitter, they get a couple new things throughout each week).

Today is apparently a holiday in the UK so that might mean they didnā€™t have to work today. Weā€™ll probably get a ā€œtune into the streamā€ post tomorrow.

I think one of the biggest features we are missing for a zoo builder is a map generator, all zoos have maps but we have no easy way to make them in game. Even if they can only be generated in one style I would really appreciate it and this is one my most wanted features for a free update or sequel
even something as simple as entering an ariel view of the zoo giving us access to the heat maps as well as the ability to draw and outline shapes to make our own maps with little stamps for facilities.

The biggest flaw with some of the earlier packs, and I'm mostly thinking about the first three here, is that the developers thought they knew what players wanted. So many of those earlier sets could have been cooler if they had (a) more flexicolor pieces and additional channels for pieces that were flexi; (b) not assumed people only wanted to "build big" and provide smaller pieces for detailing and allowed in some "smaller" species from the jump; and (c) known that people were going to want to build relatively realistic zoos.

And you can see how they adapted/adjusted their approach based on feedback over time. It started with Aquatic, then truly peaked with the Europe pack and mostly maintained until Barnyard (which was technically an Animal pack so whatever). There have been a few blips with Twilight and Oceania back toward that old style but it's kinda obvious why that happened (double-dipping with PC2 assets).

But all that said? I do really think that different pack themes or smaller, hyper-focused scenery-only packs between bigger DLCs would have been really cool as far as fleshing things out go. Imagine themes like Parks & Gardens, Environmental Education, Guest Entertainment, or Backstage and what those might have added (priced lower than a typical DLC as they are scenery-only, of course). Or, like the way this conversation started... Working in some of those elements with different theme "types" for packs that focus on different buildings/aspects of a zoo.

I'm not sure if these approaches would be profitable. But I can't help but wonder if the focus on region and biome was limiting in any way... And weirdly, much more so for the scenery rather than the animals.

What's most impressive is that it opened in 1985 and it still maintains as a great set of habitats! It's not without its flaws but its still my favorite to this day. It's honestly the reason I'm as obsessed with zoos as I am. It's the first time I recall being at a zoo and thinking about the way the habitats were designed. The Bronx Zoo on the whole does a really nice job with theming when they opt to go that route. In particular Jungle World, the Congo Basin, and Tiger Mountain are stellar. That zoo in general is realllyy amazingg but those stand out from a theming perspective...

What's fun is that I actually think you could re-create most of those in Planet Zoo if you really wanted to (obviously with replacement species or mods). But man, thinking about it now, I really wish we had bigger mangrove tree roots that otters could run between...
Recreating some of their habitats is what my sandbox project is based off of. I just finished the Madagascar building, so im dreading/looking forward to making a 'rendition' of JungleWorld with what we have in game
