DLC18 discussion and predictions

I will say seeing the aquatic/ island theme for Planet Coaster actually makes me want the Caribbean flamingo more. It would fit really well with the theme, and I genuinely think of all the “easy clones” it’s up their as one of the best.

Now here is a question, do you guys think it’s possible that the new theme for Planet Coaster could dictate what the final dlc is for PZ? Maybe they were working on it simultaneously (to some capacity) and I know yesterday we floated around birds but maybe we could get a larger islands pack?

i floated the idea of a larger islands pack about a month after Oceania pack came out and i got some strong negative feedback, i am glad we have come full circle now. please let me share my love of the Hawaiian Monk seal with everyone

PC2's resort theme looks very similar to the Oceania theme we already have, so I doubt it means anything for PZ. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the new plants we see in the trailer, like the palms, appear in the next DLC/update though - they ported a lot of PZ plants into PC2, and I assume doing the reverse would be just as simple.

To be honest I think an island pack can easily work, especially if it is made larger than normal. We can still get monkeys, animals like the walrus, new Madagascar animals, and plenty of new birds. I think it can be really cool!

  1. Tree kangaroo
  2. Red howler monkey (some are native to the islands of Trinidad and Tobago)
  3. Tanuki
  4. Caribbean Flamingo
  5. Walrus
  6. Nene
  7. Victoria crowned pigeon
  8. White faced whistling duck
  9. Radiated tortoise
  10. Exhibit animal: tuatara

Since the new DLC might come at the end of August or September, I hope they create another animal at the same time to release it on the anniversary. I could see something like this schedule:

Late August/Early September - Planet Zoo PC DLC
Late September - Planet Zoo Console bundle
October - Planet Coaster 2
November - Planet Zoo PC anniversary and Planet Zoo Console bundle
December - Planet Coaster 2 DLC and a small Planet Zoo PC DLC

if there was a marine expansion for planet zoo since planet coaster 2 has that water theme it could be:
New system for Aquatic enclosures with a view from the glass or the top:

Aquatic Enclosure Animals:
Manatee [Headliner]
Sand Tiger Shark
Giant Pacific Octopus
Moray Eel
Goliath grouper
Anemonefish [Clownfish and others]
Cownose ray

[For people asking where's the dolphins?! Yeah dolphins in captivity are controversial]

Habitat Animals:
Southern Rockhopper Penguin
Sea Otter
Pacific Walrus
Olive Ridley sea turtle
Atlantic Puffin
American Flamingo
Great White Pelican

Exhibit Animals:
Sea Horse
Amazonian Pirahnas

16 total animals
7 Aquatic Enclosure
7 Habitat
2 Exhibit

It does certainly still have its weaknesses that you have to play around, especially for a final pack context.

The only island endemic New World Monkey is the Trinidad White-fronted Capuchin, with the only others even native to islands being Guyanese Red Howlers on Trinidad, and Cotton-Top Tamarins on the Rosario islands.

At least one Hamadryas Baboon existed on Farasan Al-Kebir, a Red Sea island, as a skull of one was found there in 1984, it probably wasn't a native species though.

Dahlak Kebir has a dwarf population of Soemmerring's Gazelle, that's what we're all after.

Oh yes the Sommerring's gazelle, my most wanted animal.

Far from ideal for me, a third tiger subspecies and a rhino with no captive presence are very much at the bottom of my priorities.

For islands (as an animal pack, I don't think we need an islands scenery theme after Oceania) I'd go with:
  1. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo (New Guinea)
  2. Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat (Philippines)
  3. Coquerel's Sifaka (Madagascar)
  4. Lowland Anoa (Sulawesi)
  5. Nene (Hawaii)
  6. Kagu (New Caledonia)
  7. Rhinoceros Iguana (Hispaniola)
  8. Tuatara [E] (New Zealand)
I'd love this soooo much.

Said it before but imo an islands animal pack has the potential to be something really great.
But its definetly hindered by the fact that it lost most of its headliner species last year and alot of the potential animals are of groups frontier tends to not give much attention to, also barely any ungulates that really fit the theme lol.
I mean Treekangaroo, crowned pigeon, javan langur, radiated tortoise, aye-aye, Nene and rhino iguana would be such a cool pack but that never gonna happen in a thousand years. I mean a pack with the exeption of one consisting only of primates, birds and reptiles? I feel frontier will sue me for merely suggesting it

I don’t think it would hurt to have, I believe only our second pack without a single ungulate? Maybe that wouldn’t be too bad even, I’ll be honest with how bad we need birds I think literally any island bird is above any island ungulate. Likewise some monkey options are there, which are once again above any other related ungulate.

Not to say there aren’t still ungulates I want, but I think for the final dlc Frontier can focus on the animals the community has been asking for over 4 years.

I know it doesn't feel like it lately, but we've had four packs with no ungulates - Australia, Aquatic, Twilight and Oceania. Meanwhile, the only pack without a single carnivoran has been Oceania, unless you count deluxe I guess.

EDIT: Forgot Barnyard had no carnivorans too!

Part of me wants to believe that for a final pack, just this one time, just once frontier is going to focus on the groups they have been neglecting for the last 4 years.
But the other part knows deep down 6 out of 7 habitat slots are going to carnivorans and ungulates, so birds, primates and everything else will have to duke it out for the last slot as per usual
