DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Seeing how close this this is to the previous pack i wouldnt be surprise if we had to wait longer for the announcement this time
Does anyone know how much time there was between the teaser of Park Managers Collection Pack and the reveal? If those are in line with what it usually is I would lean towards us not having to wait longer.

Yeah, I think we won't have to wait an entire month before the release. We were all surprised by the news of having a new DLC that soon after the previous one but now that they teased it, I think it will be released in June. I'm expecting 17th or 24th of June.

Just checked: The Unlocked with the megalodon teaser was on April 24th. The pack was announced on May 13th (a little over 2 weeks later) which is close to what we saw with the last key art tease.

A reveal on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week wouldn’t be out of the question.

Oops, completely forgot the cockroach haha. Thought I might be missing something.

I don't see what argument there is for monarchs being native though. They're a non-native species that depends on a non-native plant to survive.
Whilst you right that they primarily feed on invasive milkweed so are bound to human settlement and essentially invasive there is actually research suggesting that they didn't arrive in australia via humans but rather cyclones carried them across the coral sea from the pacific islands which themselves have a uncertain history with the invasive status of these butterflies.

This gave me flashbacks to me working in a supermarket and having to show this one grandma how to use the card reader once or twice a week for like a year straight
Kuddos to her for paying with card though, a lot of seniors just refuse to learn something new.
I worked at customer service for a while with a lot of elderly customer base (we are talking 70+ and up to 100 here). I have some very lovely and cute memories. And to this day I jokingly I pronounce "User" like a german word, because there was that one guy who said to me (in german): "Please excuse me, I am not a knowledgeable User." because I had to explain how he can send an e-mail. But at the same time, I'm telling you, working in customer service with that clientél trains your patience. 😅

Honestly, now I really wonder if there are seniors playing PZ. My grandpa used to play PC games after I taught him.

Just because something wasn’t directly introduced by humans doesn’t make it a native animal (such animals are usually termed self-introduced). I wouldn’t call them “invasive” because they don’t have a noticeable impact on native ecosystems (given they don’t impact native plants or compete much with native butterflies - milkweed itself is an invasive weed though), but they’re still a human-assisted arrival in the sense that they would never have established in Oceania without humans spreading milkweed and they have been in Australia for less time than rabbits have. In any case I don’t think they should be counted as representation for Oceania in-game.

Here in NZ the monarch butterfly actually did have an impact on native butterflies, I believe.

Conversely, the self-introduced welcome swallow slotted into the ecosystem rather smoothly.

feel free to correct me or chime in. If this pack is India or n fact a South Asia, this is the perfect time to bring in the cobras. 2 years ago some of us were surprised by the return to exhibits from WTE with the inclusion of the eyelash viper. Ironically the last 3 dlcs had no exhibits just like the 3 before arid.
I like the Scenary we have already from India therefore I don’t think more is needed right now.
If we are to get anymore scenery pieces, as mentioned many times a safari scene would be nice but I would be interested in a Himalayan Tibetan scene.
Anyone else got any suggestions?
Also is it safe to say builds are done as builds are focused on Pc2?

Tibetan/himalayan scenery was what i expected to show up with the zookeepers pack back when we thought it a mountain pack.
I think a mountain pack was this themes chance and idk if were gonna get one after zookeeper basicly added the 4 main mountain animals everyone wanted.
Could you still do a cool mountain pack? Sure, with gelada, monal, yak, rocky mountain elk, alpine marmot, vicunja, barbary sheep you still got a neat selection of possible animals, and all of these would decent additions, but with the spec bear, baboon, takin, markhor and pallas already in game the mountain theme kind lacks that oomph.

What do you mean by that last part? That PZ isnt getting scenery because PC2 gets all of that?
Could atleast be the reason why we get the new format instead of classic scenery/animal packs.
But since there are several scenery pieces on the cover i think it is currently the most reasonable thing to expect another of the 7+scenery packs

The thing here is, that if they would decide to bring a mountain Pack, it would kinda be like the arid situation and it would be Hoofstock Pack 2.0, what for me personally is not bad at all but knowing this community, IDK if this would be a good idea. But to be fair, a mountain Pack would surely be around the world, not just one continent like Arid.

Iirc, some of Pc theme builds are the same or similar to some of PZ builds (or vice versa). With Pc2 still young, frontier is focusing on build dlcs. Almost like they have decided that the amount of builds for PZ is enough now. Honestly I’m good with not having anymore builds.
Yes on the cover there does seem to be some tower like structure.
If it’s an India pack with no cobra or blackbuck then it feels like wasted potential.

No it wouldn't, if we had a Mountain Pack chances are we get the Aoudad, Domestic Yak, Tahr, and Mountain Goat. All four which have all been requested for some time. Leaving 3 other slots for things like Rock Hyrax, Gelada, and Himalayan Monal.

We definitely could use a build set or two for the Americas, but aside from that, I'm satisfied with what we have. But for me it's pretty clear that Frontier has found the format they will use for the remaining few DLCs - the animal pack with 7 habitat animals and 100-ish random pieces. I'd be shocked if they did anything else.
Of course this pack would be the perfect one to add the cobra. But to counter that, Americas or Tropical could easily have added the long-awaited chameleon, and we didn't get it.

Chameleons Aren't Found In The Americas Though.

This is one of those things where I'm not gonna be mad if they add more ungulates but they are one of my lowest priorities. More than a quarter of species in game, including exhibits, are ungulates. Yes they are super common in zoos but at this stage I would definitely like to see different options even if it's not as commonly seen in zoos.

I know you defend the dingo as a native Australian animal and a vital part of the ecosystem (as do I for the most part) but they of course were human introduced and outcompeted a lot of native carnivores driving hen to extinction. What is your line of when something is invasive to when it’s been naturalized in your opinion?

Yeah, 3 Goats in 1 Pack? Then I would rather have the guanaco or vicuna.
