Same. I really have no excitement about África or Asia again outside of a couple of animals.
Yup: I mean, more for Africa for me - Secretary Bird, Shoebill, Bat Eared Fox, Black Backed/Golden Jackal, Honey Badger, Nile Crocodile and the Masai Giraffe would do it for me. Asia's got the Blackbuck, Himalayan Tahr and the Mandarin Duck. Oceania's sitting at The Tree Kangaroo and Grey Kangaroo....Europe and North America don't have much for me left either...pretty much still just wanting South American species.

So I guess...South America/Africa/Asia/North America/Oceania/Europe in order. The game roster is definitely coming to a close for me.

I'm not so sure the last pack would be the last one. On one hand is a nice round number to end things with and makes for another bundle with Americas for console, on the other i like the theory of one last pack that would be made and launched at the same time for both PC and Console and that could be slightly bigger.

With that in mind i think next pack would be either themed (Safari, Expeditions, Children's Zoo) or regional to match with Americas (which is the most likely). ZK and Barnyard were opposites (domestic / farms vs zoos / wild).

Any región of the world could get a revisit this time around (except the Américas, sadly). Ironically the one that could add the most to roster in terms of top wishlist animals are África (secretary, grey crowned crane, pelican, monkeys, serval, honey badger, etc.) and Asia (ducks, pheasants, blackbuck, Muntjac, asian deers, monkeys) but i feel both have been getting a lot of attention lately.

So idk what to expect next, but i know what i would like. I would like for the next packs to have a worldwide roster instead of being restricted to one continent. That way everywhere gets a share.

A shrublands/scrublands pack (safari in disguste) is one of my favorite concepts. Is pretty broad term that could fit a lot of favorites and missing pieces. Would be a chance to get some more american species, animals from Australia and the big ole african and asian continents:

1. Blackbuck
2. Eland / gerenuk
3. Secretary bird or grey crowned crane
4. Patagonian mara
5. Perentie
6. Short beaked echidna
7. Hanuman langur

And then end with a Biodiversity / World Pack as a proper send of with a couple more animals than usual:

1. Great white pelican
2. Mallard / Mandarín / WFWD duck
3. Serval
4. Honey badger
5. Nile crocodile
6. Sea otter
7. Musk ox
8. Reeve's Muntjac
9. Southamerican coati
10. Squirrel monkey / Howler monkey

Add the american black bear as anniversary animal and pretty much got most of the top animals covered plus some that full empty niches.

I don't think this is going to be the case at all but this is how i would do it with my personal picks while trying to keep it realistic.

What about bobcats/Canadian lynxes? How often did you see them, or were they lumped with Eurasian lynxes?
8 for bobcat, 2 for Canadian lynx, and I know at least the latter (probably both) have several facilities where I’ve missed them but I know they’re there. So the bobcat would’ve fallen just a bit short of that final list, but still comes out well above Eurasian lynx for me.

The more i think about it the more i realize what i really want for the next pack.
And this might be a hot take but honestly its another SA pack as the americas pack didnt really tick of any of the animals i really wanted (aside from the saki filling my wish for a nw monkey)
Coati and mara im still painfully missing, another monkey would also be more than welcome. And there are so many birds that could keep the flamingo company like the ibis, spoonbill, screamer and whistling and muscovy duck.
I could see a pack that covers different continents but has a small focus on South America. I also want to see a few more SA animals but there are animals from other continents I'd love to get before support ends, too.

Two ideas:
Savannah Animal Pack
1. Patagonian mara
2. Guanaco
3. Blackbuck
4. Honey badger
5. Serval
6. Grey crowned crane/secretary bird
7. Perentie

Forest Animal Pack
1. South American coati
2. Squirell monkey
3. Red-rumped agouti
4. Diana monkey
5. Reeve's muntjac
6. Goodfellow's tree kangaroo
7. Wapiti/American elk

I'm a bit late to the party but I feel so vindicated that another pack has been announced  And excited! More more more. Sorry if this post isn't up to date with current convo, just want to share my thoughts on the next pack.

I'd like to see a return to biome themes. It's been a while and I think there is a very obvious gap.

The five main biome types are grassland (tick), aquatic (tick), tundra (tick - arctic), desert (tick - arid) and forests. They gave us one version of forests with Tropical - but given that forests cover an entire third of the earth, and that tropical doesn't cover temperate or boreal forests, I think the biome DLC line up is screaming for a Forests pack. I think it would cover temperate / boreal forest species.

This is what I think is a possible Frontier-style roster for a Forests pack:

Forests
  • American Black Bear
  • Bobcat
  • Elk
  • Raccoon Dog
  • White-tailed Deer or Muntjac Deer
  • Pine or Yellow-Throated Marten
  • Red Squirrel
I'm not going to talk about clones or rigs but the squirrel would probably require the most work. It's small but then so is the ground squirrel, and I've been missing them since launch. Even though they are a British species, they are extremely rate and localised, so in the South we never get the opportunity to see them except in local wildlife parks. I love watching them zipping around through clever tunnel habitat designs. In lieu of a red squirrel I'd love a rabbit or hare, but I feel they are more grassland appropriate.

Taiga?

I am also hoping for a return to biome based packs, my top choices would be Shrublands and Rainforest (I know they are very similar to themes we already have). Both packs would allow some of the most popular animals left out of Americas to make it into the game such as the Coati and Mara as well as more monkeys and birds which we could always do with more of. Not really sure how frontier would execute these packs, given the recent drop in quality, but there are plenty of fairly simple African birds which frontier could definitely put in either pack.

something I thought of, animal family’s we haven’t seen in a while. As in we didn’t see any in 2023 and of course we sow limited in 2024.
Pinnipeds have had no rep since 21
Rodents have had no rep since 22
I think the New Zealand fur seal wouldn’t be too hard to make. We have been saying for a while that rabbits need a rep.
Can anyone think of other families we haven’t seen since 22?

Arid was 2023 wasnt it?

Gruidae (cranes) and the three crocodilian families the only ones that i can think of from the top of my head. Im sure there are plenty more tho

Great minds think alike:LOL:
Definitely a good roster with some popular and long requested animals. I'd be most excited for the muntjac, yellow-throated marten and American black bear. I think a monkey would be a good alternative for the squirrel, e.g. golden snub nosed monkey or barbary macaque to stick with your temperate forest theme.
I'd prefer a forest pack representing different climate and forest types though, like my idea above (though my is maybe too tropical heavy then).
But to develop this idea further (because I'm having a lot of ideas right now), here's another forests pack idea covering multiple forest types.

Forest Animal Pack V2
1. South American coati (tropical rainforest)
2. Squirrel monkey (tropical rainforest)
3. Southern pudu (temperate rainforest/cloud forest)
4. Reeve's muntjac (subtropical and temperate forest)
5. American black bear (temperate forest and taiga)
6. Narrow-striped mongoose (dry decidous forest)
7. Blackbuck (dry decidous forest)

Wait wait, when/where did they announce a 20th pack?

So I have discussed it before but with the recent flamingo and rhea I bird pack feals less likely, so for my new "unlikely but more likely then before" pack is a primate pack, like it's a great way to hype longterm zoo fans, who probably have make up alot of the remaining players.

Here is what I would do for a Primate Dlc.
Or more specifically, how I feel Frontier would do it, with one semi new rig and 7 clones
