The new scenery theme, or maybe Walktrough exhibit for a new animal.
The former is more likely, but we'll surely know it two weeks later.
If it is Indian theme, I almost hope there is no Indian Muntjac, so that Reeves can have a chance in a a different pack (if there is any). I love Muntjacs, but really, Indian is mainly kept in Asia, which deems it pretty useless to me.
The elephant is surely something...As much as I DONT WANT another lion, I think I would prefer Asiatic lion to another elephant. But oh well.
And I am pretty sure people that expect Cobra will be dissapointed - there most likely is going to be scenery instead of exhibit animal again. I think some of it is shown on the cover.

Again, people asking for cheap copies of animals instead for asking for updates on all base game animals is wild and enraging....
This pack is gonna be a big miss for me,
I want: Ratel, Muntjac, Golden Pheasant, Blackbuck, Gaur, Mandarin Duck, the big marten and the Fishing Cat, would not mind Yak or Nilgai
We probably get Asiatic Lion, another boring Elephant, and some copy-paste canid, I also don’t care for more monkeys spare for Gelada and Howler Monkeys, and of course Aye-Aye
If we get both the Elephant and Lion I don’t even want the pack
The Ratel is very tempting though, so that would be a shame

Since this one is potentially so close to the previous pack i think there is also the possibility of them dropping one of the habitat animals in favour of an exhibit one

Why is the elephant so enraging though? I would love this pack and the fishing cat is at least a feline.
Anything can happen of course, but I would not bet on it unless there is some other evidence than wishul thinking. We know that "they cant make X pack without Y, surely?" is a meme at this point.
Any idea what the monkey potentionally could be except for the Lion-Tail Macaque? Or does it really fit only that species? Seems like we are pretty sure of this?
I forgot it was the Frontier livestream yesterday and I was definitely not expecting the announcement of a new DLC that soon. Nice surprise there. Also nice surprise with the theme as we need to fill some gaps for India. I would prefer a more general asian pack because there still a few species I would love for China and Japan but India is a good first step. And tbh I feel like this is still not the end of PZ. An India pack doesn't feel like a goodbye pack to me.
I would be very happy already with a honey badger, blackbuck and gaur. Especially if they added a chinkara or a civet or mongoose.
I am not that bothered about a Sri Lankan elephant, I wouldn't have wanted it, but I am not bothered either. I also would be happy to see a fishing cat or a marbled cat. IMO they shouldn't include any canids though, but if they do, they do.
Golden pheasant or monal would be really cool even as flightless birds, as would be a Sarus crane (Antigone antigone).
Anyone still expecting aquatic animals like sharks is IMO delusional...

Frontier. Racoon Dog and Black-Backed Jackal are still waiting.
The baboonlike tail and the mane are pretty much exlussive for them. At first glance one could consider gelada as an option, but their manes extend all the way down over the shoulders and back. And other baboons or macaques dont really have these manes.
So yeah its 100% lion tailed macaque
Could it simply be the Indian Elephant is there to signify/solidify that this is an ‘India’ Pack and not a greater Asia pack or heck (take out the Asian elephants and that one temple piece on the right) and you’ve got what could be an Africa pack (with Ratel and Geladas).

I’m betting: Blackbuck, Gaur, Nilgai, Pygmy Hog… (although I’d prefer a deer over the hog personally).

But you can just as well interpret this as "we are getting another asian elephant, and since we already have the indian one it has to be one of the other subspecies -> general asia pack".
Besides, i think you could get the message of this being an india pack, well maybe not better across but you would cetainly create less confusion if you went with any other indian animal like the blackbuck
I’m the opposite. I feel dogs are wayyyy over represented in this game compared to how common they are in zoos (and even how many species there are in general). And a lot quite heavily overlap (two wolves, two foxes and a coyote for NA?). Heck even Europe has three canids.Nah, they should not add any more cats. Only dogs. IMO.

The only one I’d really appreciate now is the raccoon dog for the far East (an area without huge diversity or representation in game).
Cats on the other hand are really common in zoos and there’s a lot of them. For me the serval is a must. But I’m also open for the European wildcat, fishing cat, bobcat, Canadian lynx etc.

Also yea this pack does have the potential to be ungulate heavy like Arid... But to be honest? I think it would be fine here, India is a region that could really do with a good set of filler ungulates and I would be more than happy with getting blackbuck, chital, gaur, and nilgai in the same pack.
But to put the blackbuck on they’d have to spoil/tease it. Are we even sure this is an animal pack yet? It’s oddly broken the pattern we’ve had of DLCs since Eurasia, it could be a scenery pack and then they definitely wouldn’t put three animals on the teaser art.
A Sri Lankan elephant would just be so bizarre though. A) it would mean this isn’t an India pack but a South Asia pack (which branding wise would be very confusing with Southeast Asia, especially as they’ve also chosen purple again as the pack colour, same if this was just an ‘Asia pack’.
So really it’s got to be India looking at the two Indian species on the front that they chose to tease (neither the ratel or the macaque are found outside India on the Asian continent).
If we had a different Asian elephant already I’d say sure, it could be an Indian elephant as they’re well known/famous. But I do not see a chance of Frontier adding a Sri Lankan elephant, and the more famous Bornean and Sumatran elephants simply don’t appear to fit the theme whatsoever.
Y’know ‘here’s the official branding for a new pack cover for the whole of Asia’ so here’s a load of Indian exclusive species and a temple, but lol we’ve thrown a Bornean elephant (that will easily be confused for an Indian elephant) in the back for the demonstrate this is a whole of Asia pack? It doesn’t make sense from a branding point of view imo, you’d have to make the official art more clear it isn’t India only…

Idk we might all be coping but the last dlc art with Americas did only feature two animals the rest were in scenery. So it might just truly be the ratel and macaque with the elephants being for vibes. They are considerably more in the background than other animal pack art background animals
Yeah I’d be fairly happy with four ungulates here too imo. When looking at what India has left to offer, a lot of the major fauna is already in the game (tiger, bears, elephant, rhino), we’re getting a small mammal and primate, so it kind of makes sense now that we’d get several ungulates which a) are most of the higher Indian species on the wishlist and b) allow us to create proper Indian savanna areas like we already can with Africa..
