DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Personally I’m more excited for the lion tailed macaque over the honey badger. For me it’s just a personal thing, I mean look at this distinguished gentleman:

It’s honestly amazing how far monkeys have come in a short time period. I mean look at what we have now:
  • Mandrill
  • Japanese macaque
  • White faced capuchin
  • Proboscis monkey
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • White faced saki
  • Lion tailed macaque
I would love another new world monkey, or a “proper” monkey for tropical Africa. If anything I would desperately want a golden lion tamarin, and then I would be happy.

For ungulates, while the blackbuck is cool and probably the “better option” I want the gaur. They were so cool at the Bronx zoo!

Finally, I think a sleeper hit bird option would be the Indian Bustard. They are critically endangered and would perfectly fit into the themes of the game. The Indian Star tortoise is another great one due conservation efforts as well.

But finally, I think it’s about time we get a return to exhibit animals. I mean, and Indian pack without the Indian Cobra would be nuts. I can see Frontier not adding the snake. But I think it would be a huge missed opportunity.

This really is a perfect chance for the cobra I hope we get it but I’m prepared to not unfortunately

thank you for coming to my ted talk

Still, we shouldn't rule out the possibility it's not an India pack, we should keep the Zookeepers pack in mind which at first hinted to mountains.
Yeah, but let's also keep in mind that we discussed a lot if that was actually a mountain pack. The zookeeper was there (weird), the baboons were in a small rock instead of a proper mount, there were A LOT of trees... Now I think we are 95% sure it's India. It's just that we have PSTD after that Zookeeper&Mountains DLC 😅

I always like to look for the bright side of things. If we are getting a third elephant, then there's still hope for my beloved Eurasian brown bear one day 🥰
I have no idea how many more DLCs we might have, but yeah this might be the age of clones for building up the roster,

After many years I got the American flamingo, so I wouldn’t put it past Frontier to do more clones at this point.

With negativity and elephant aside, can i say i'm very optimistic for this pack?

India has been among my favorite pack concepts for a while as it both thematically and provide a rich ammount of animals that i'm interested despite our rough times with effort put into animals dennying me some of my top animals(RIP Giant indian squirrel and bustards), several animals that i wanted doesn't need it anyway.

Gaur and blackbuck are my most wanted ungulates and they fit the pack theme perfectly.
Muntjac and barashinga are great additions, and for a time i woudn't mind receiving two deers in a pack.
Fishing cat is the only cat i'll accept, and therefore a nice way to close down the group for me.
A Indian mongoose would be our first mongoose since Africa, and receiving an mongoose for Asia would be excellent, as small animals are always great to build.
And of course, an reptile and bird is always welcome.

Overall, it's hard for Frontier to mess up an India pack, and so i think this pack might be really great.
I am also feeling much more optimistic for this pack my top pick is already confirmed with the macaque and there are plenty of simple clones that would be great inclusions for them to add. I am also less passionate about my ideal roster than I was for the Americas pack so its much less of a big deal if only a couple of the animals I wanted make it in. I just hope we get at least 1 bird in this pack there are plenty of simple clones like another crane or any pheasant, or some kind of waterfowl or pelican if they are feeling more adventurous.
I still stand by the fact that Indian star tortoises (as well as Madagascar's radiated tortoises) would be Exhibit Animals should they be in PZ
Ok mr spurred tortoise will be in the walkthrough exhibit😜. In all seriousness though I really wouldn't be surprised if the Star tortoise ended up in the exhibit they are basically the same size as the Hermann's but I am a bit split on whether the Radiated would be a habitat animal.

I think it's a good thing for zoo games to educate players on biodiversity through phylogenetic variety IMO. It'd be pretty boring if we only had 50 cats
Doesn't change the fact that they're basically the same animal when it comes to their gameplay. Cats tend to have different requirements usually, rhinos are pretty much the same (aside from the usual one or two different enrichment items). A black rhino enclosure is gonna look pretty much the same as a white rhino enclosure, while, for example, a Pallas' Cat habitat is going to look very different from a caracal habitat.
Not to mention that, usually, zoos have more than one cat but rarely more than one rhino (let alone three, or even four)

I mean, they'd be pretty small and hard to spot in a 180m² enclosure (which is usually the minimum required habitat for every other animal), and the babies would be a huge problem... Imagine how small they'd have to be.
Yeah sure. But way to large enclosure requirements are thing across the board in the game.
But i think that would be still preferable than putting them in something in what they would not and should not really be kept in real life. Especially when that prevents you from displaying them in the like go to way they are in zoos: outdoor pens.

And if they werent feeling comfortable with them as habitat animals just pick something else, its not like they were super highly requeste. Cobra was right there, or if you really want to do a european one do jeweled lacerta or something

Yeah maybe you are right :D
But a general Asian pack is also not unlikely if you ask me. The honey badger lives not only in India and neither do elephants.
Personally I'd even prefer a general Asian pack because that way we could get Reeve's muntjac and Pere David's deer into the game, two species I really want to see haha.
Also possible but more unlikely imo is a pack with animals from all around the world (I keep repeating myself).

But yeah, India seems the most likely option and there would be quite a few popular choices next to honey badger and lion-tailed macaque (which both will make me buying the pack instantly already), so it'd be totally happy with it.
