Do players still get the entire pack of paint jobs with a purchase? If not then paint jobs just went up about 6 fold.

It's super easy to check the ARX prices of paintjobs from the ingame store. Here is a list I gathered (all for individual paintjobs):
620
1260
1820
2220
3250
The most common prices seem to be 620 and 1820. Funny that the OP "randomly" picked the most expensive one of 3250 as the screenshot.

This means for every 2 weeks of play (2 x 400 cap) you get one costing 620 for free.

You are not wrong.

But let's be honest here. The 620 paints are the tactical, vibrant and military ones.

I'd say in the past the most desirable ones of those were tactical because the pack included black and white colours. These are now missing from the store without explanation.

The paints most (certainly I) would have spent money on are mostly in the 1800 to 2400 bracket.

So from that point of view the OP has a point (which I made several weeks ago btw).

Basically FD changed the price structure from same price for everything to higher prices for more desirable paints, while offering the less desirable ones for cheaper.

I can live with the change but it would've been nice if FD had been more transparent about it - as a result for me it came across as a bit scummy tbh. I made my peace with it though and have only bought a single vibrant paint from my free Arx so far, although that has more to do with the buggy state of the game than the new pricing structure in all fairness.

Fusion wasn't sold in packs either, get your facts straight.

Are they expensive and useless? Yes.
Are they more expensive then before? Debatable, before you couldn't get them for free.
There is no debatable, value per currency has gone down. 2250 x 6 for Pulse is still more than $5.

All for a useless currency system that will not realistically allow anyone to earn anything about value.

Except I have self control. I wont be manipulated into buying something I don’t want or cant afford.
Less value for money is less value per money regardless of how you try to excuse it. You don't speak for everyone else, however your line of mentality is exactly why the game industry is worse off today. Excusing greed and manipulation.

This idea that ARX is highly sophisticated, psychological manipulation is crap.

This faux currency scheme has been in operation in Elite, on consoles since it arrived on consoles.

Taking that into account, how many posts have been made on this forum of people saying they got into financial trouble buying ship kits or paint jobs?

Pretty sure no one has. So the claim that it is a terrible manipulation does more to expose the dim view the claimant has of other players than of the ‘evil plot’.

“I’ve seen through the scam but many idiots wont.”, is what you’re saying.

I am still puzzled about this whole Arx thing. When did it become compulsory to purchase fluff? They way some are acting they are either the most weak willed beings going around or have FD forcing their arm behind their backs to buy this fluff from the store.
No we just don't make excuses for corporations. People with your mentality were the same ones saying that loot boxes were not a big deal, now we all get punished by your type of gamer. You also the same type of people that said that locking away cosmetics is okay, now everything that used to be included is no longer included. all gamers have suffered because of people with your mentality. I wouldn't have a problem if only your game was ruined but everyone had to pay the price of your foolishness.

OP please use better examples when bringing up packs. Crypsis, Pulse and a few others were never sold as packs and were always more pricey compared to the rest.

If you want a good example, take the Galvanised pack.

In no world is about $4 for one skin equate to a better value than $5 for 6 skins.

Before you wanted a particular color / skin for your ship but you had to buy a whole pack to get it. Now you can buy the exact color / skin you want and it costs less. For me, personally, it’s an improvement.

Also while on the topic of ARX and skins and all that: for me it’s a big improvement that you have the store inside the game and you buy stuff using ARX, which you can buy outside the game. This is how it is for a ton of other games too (Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc.) and it makes the store experience better since it’s in-game and consistent between all platforms.

Finally, the absolute price (i.e. not relative to what it was) for skins is just fine. It’s the cost of a cup of coffee at Starbucks but rather than getting one each morning on the way to work you buy only a couple of skins ever. And now you can earn ARX inside the game, which means that if you only buy a few skins per year you might never need to spend any money on them at all. Or if you want to think about it another way, perhaps consider the price of items to be reduced for people who play a lot. The more you play, the cheaper the items become.

Seriously, whining about something as trivial as this, as cheap as this, makes you look pretty foolish. This is the behavior you see with small children. If this really makes you so upset, then perhaps you should stop and consider your values and priorities for a bit?

How is it not manipulation, to intentionally price objects between the pricing structure of the fake currency so that any person has to buy more than one pack of currency?

How is that not manipulation which is not even my point.. I just want to know your answer.

Pulse and Squadron were also both in packs and were not singular.

Pulse is 2250*6 and Squadron is 1820 x 6..both of those are much worse value than what it was.

Presumably you’re not being manipulated because you’ve seen through it. I’m not because I have self control. Who are you worried about precisely?

It’s not working on you or me so it’s not very good manipulation is it?

Now do that same calculation for Fusion which was also a pack. 3250 ARX for 1.

16,250 ARX for what used to cost 5 bucks. Military is one of the most basic paint jobs, look at some of the non basic ones.
Fusion were sold individually, never as a pack - so you'd end up spending $4 x 6 anyway.

For $4 you get 5,000 Arx, and can buy a Fusion paint. That leaves you with 1750 Arx; you could then keep that left over and earn some more Arx, or spend it on other paint jobs.. so you get Fusion + something else of your choosing for $4 when it used to be $4 (?) for the one paint and nothing else.

Sorry man, I'm just not seeing what you're seeing.

You really do have a problem with anyone not sharing your opinion don't you.

As for your pigeon-holing of me, I have NEVER purchased a loot-box in any game I have played. In fact I have stopped playing certain games and didn't buy others because they introduced P2W lootboxes.

So get off your damn high horse (yep the one you rode in on) and stop playing the victim.

The store experience is about the only thing that improved with this update.

Since I'm a lot more reluctant to buy prepaid Arx packs Vs buy what you see for real money as I previously could, that's of little use to me though.

This^^.
I'm certainly not defending FDev, their pricing structure or silly Arx.

But sortakinda $5 for something in a pack, never in a pack blahblahblah.
It doesn't help the argument.:(
