Does anyone know if enhancing the range of a plasma weapon improves the projectile speed?

Title, basically. As I've not noticed any significant damage falloff with the pistol or sniper. Haven't used the rifle much as the damage is a bit too low for my liking, although the falloff is definitely noticeable on the shotgun. So, yeah. Does anyone know?
 
I wonder if they are worth being used at all tbh. Whenever I drop shields with them NPC run for cover before I can hit them, due to the low projectile speed… 🙄
 
If i remember right the long Range mod increases the "projectile" speed, yes. But Plasmas are hard to use on long ranges so i prefer to use OC or efficient.

I've been going into high-intensity CZ's with them because my friend is crazy. The Executioner, the manticore marksman rifle, two-shot shields and two-shot health to kill. One shot to health if you hit the head.
The marksman rifle and pistol are both absolutely amazing. The shotgun's good as long as your suit's up to match, otherwise you've gotta get suicidally close. The rifle's lacking on the damage front imo, even though I know it needs to be a bit wimpy otherwise the laser/kinetic variants are literally worthless, but I still like it could use with a 25-35% damage buff. Still, it's easy to use and reliable, so that's a plus

We're talking about the on-foot plasma weapons. They have different engineering options available. You can see them on Inara now, as well as some of the stats

I now have upgraded my Oppressor to G3 and to my amusement I found that it can reliably down NPCs even in High CZs. I'm almost ready to G4 it, just need to find 22 more units of Chemical Superbase - or trade for it, which I can do right now if I wipe out my entire stash of chemical assets. Projectile speed is still too low, so I'm working on stockpiling the resources for the Extra Range and maybe the Stability mods.

I actually kinda enjoy having to anticipate and shoot just ahead of the target...makes the kill very gratifying...
