Does Elite development ends in 2024?

While I wasn't at Lavecon in 2015, as I remember it it was said as "we have a 10 year plan", which as you say, was taken out of context.
It was not in the context of "we will cease the development of Elite after 10 years" but something more of "as for NOW, we have a plan for 10 years, and we don't know at this stage what we will be adding to Elite after that time". IIRC.

I think people who think the game is dying are fools. Optimization is getting there and now they are finally releasing new content. I would bet they are sitting on a ton of unreleased assets that are coming now that the bugs are being ironed out a bit
I´ll have you know Elite has been pronounced dead each and every year since the first alpha was released back in 2013. Heck, some even probably pronounced it dead during Kickstarter. I mean at some point those embarrassingly failed predictions are bound to be right purely based on the fact they are uttered each and every year. 7 years since release and counting, any time now.

That's what I was trying to say. I was agreeing with you :)

Please have a polite discussion, I don't want you to close the thread, I just want to know the opinion of the community.

Time advances and in December 2024 it will be 10 years since the launch, there are still many promises to fulfill that were announced on the Kickstarter. There is really not much time left for that date and looking at the panorama of the content that they released between 2019 and 2020, I do not see time to add new content or an obligation to continue developing elite beyond the end of 2024 or I will continue to see the time that Odyssey is consuming.

If you're talking console, Development already ended in 2020. (y)

I thought the actual phrase was something like "we have enough ideas to keep going for at least 10 years" and that got all twisted into the ten year plan.

They all went to the same school as Dr Derek Smart who is equally crap at predictions.

And if the world was sane he would have been right. But it's not sane, and they keep on getting more and more money. Anyone back then would never had predicted in a month of sundays that SC could keep the plates spinning.

IIRC the Ten year quote was they would take stock in 2024 to see where they are and where they can go from there :D
