I still use blue tac, a habit from years ago using a Kempston Pro (damn I'm old).
OMG! I didn't even realise there were rubber nubs/pad things! What an idiot. I took of the suction cups -It's so much better!
I'm not sure I can relax though - I'm off for some pre -flight meditation.
I won't ask for wet wipes in ship outfitting now.

And someone please do a poll on Pads vs Suction Cups!
So much time and effort adjusting ourselves, I am truly impressed and ashamed of my own setup being placed on the desk without screws/ brackets/ or velcro!
I have the Saitek X52 Pro with the little rubber suction cups on the bottom. They usually stay in place, but sometimes, usually at the worse possible time, they can come loose, and the results can be devastating.
After almost dying from a joystick malfunction during a routine interdiction, I remembered a little trick that used to use on faulty suction cups as a kid. If you wipe the underside of the suction cups with a damp cloth, then this will keep air from leaking in and will keep your joystick and throttle firmly in place. It's just a little thing really, but it might mean the difference between victory and a rebuy screen.
Hope this helps!!
I looked at my joystick and it doesn't have ... um, whatchacallit. Them little holey things. What you put screws into. Holes! Yeah, that's it. No got holes. Not one of your fancy stickies either. Just a little old Logitech Wingman. Well, it's not old. I bought it for this game, a month or two before release. But it's an old design, identical to one I got umpty-doodley years ago. I need a new one. One of your Hotass things. But I need a new job first.
I have the X52 and to the right (and diagonally) of the Power light are these things...
You may, I don't know, have these on the 'Pro'!

You put screws in them....
Sorted!
Yep, same here. I drilled holes in my keyboard tray and secure with wing-nuts underneath. Wing-nuts make it a sinch to take it off if you can't have it perm attached. I thought all diehard X52 users used the screw holes Saitek so generously incorporated into this awesome HOTAS.

I use a combination of the above ideas. My X52 Pro is screwed to a wooden board (sanded and varnished, natch) and there are two small pads of the non-slip matting you get for kitchens etc between that and the table.
It has the benefit of making the joystick and throttle a single unit for carrying while also ensuring that it is not going to move anywhere without my say-so.
For what it's worth, I don't thrash my joystick around like there's no tomorrow (oo-err) but I am disabled and do get involuntary - and sometimes very strong - muscle spasms so when I do use the HOTAS I like to know it's not going to get thrown across the room![]()
Seriously guyz. The rubber pads are sticky enough. Shouldn't need to screw or bolt the equipment down. You need to visit the gym a little less![]()
