Excited to go. I'll bring a T9 loaded to the gills with Tritium and some mining equipment to boot.
This expedition sounds fantastic !
I'm so excited to hear about another expedition organized by Erimus Kamzel from the Distant Worlds expeditions (But sadly couldn't be part of any of these 2 expeditions)
I am very interested in taking part in this expedition and helping with fuel prospection and refuel operations.
However, I am an inexperienced player when it comes to large multi-players expeditions of this size, since i never took part in any initiatives of the sort.
Moreover, I have very little time available every days (between 1 and 2 hours at max).
Can a player like me be of any help to such an amazing project?
And if so, what are the things i should know about such large player initiatives?
Many thanks to everyone creating such awesome initiatives, and I hope I'm not bothering you with my questions.
Welcome Romaria!
Being new to expeditions and having little gametime isn't a problem for this kind of journey, as you'll be able to hitch a ride on any of the Carriers taking part - saving you the need to actually fly the route yourself and trying to reach meetups and schedules on time etc.
Anyone can help, whether its to scout for systems containing tritium ring systems during our occasional waypoint stopovers, or mining the fuel at the galactic core when we get there, or even as a hauler transporting fuel from the mining op sites to the carriers that need it.
Post #3 of this thread has some vital links you should make use of; particularly the link to join the Fleetcomm private group, as pretty much all multiplayer interaction will be in that group, and to meet up with other players, that's the private group you need to be in. Additionally you should join the Fleetcomm discord server (also linked on post #3), as that's where the expedition is being hosted and discussed.
Post#3 also has some recommended ships and loadouts to take depending on what role you'd like. If you have plenty of credits then take a few different ships and modules so you can try a variety of roles during the journey. Make sure you transfer your ships and mining modules to one of the DSSA Carriers on launch day (see post #1 for info on that).
The outbound journey will be focused on travel - getting the carriers to the galactic core within 3 or 4 days, as that's where the large scale mining operations will take place to refuel the fleet. So the journey will be fairly sedate with not much 'action' for those first few days, although there will be occasional stopovers at certain waypoints to allow time for Tritium prospecting.
If you intend to sign up then your first port of call should be the Fleetcomm discord server, its the place to chat to all the Carrier commanders taking part, as well as miners, haulers, and prospectors who'll be happy to answer any questions you have.![]()
Changed my mind. I can squeeze 20 more tons in my Cutter....and still bask.Excited to go. I'll bring a T9 loaded to the gills with Tritium and some mining equipment to boot.![]()

DSSA Aphelion Expedition pre-launch checklist :
DSSA Aphelion Expedition pre-launch checklist : Read the thread for the full in depth background to this mission. Between now and June 9th, make sure you have all the modules you're taking stored in a station somewhere, things you may want to bring along (eg. mining equipment, cargo racks, ...docs.google.com
Not very familiar with the carriers, but is it possible to have multiple ships delivered to fleet carriers? I'd permanently rebase a few of my ships with them.
Yes, you can store multiple ships on a Carrier that has a shipyard. They're just like stations in that respect. But bear in mind a Carrier could end up taking your ships to far off places, and it could cost you a fortune to transfer them back to wherever you are.
Gonna apply to Fleetcom then, lets see what will happen. There are players from the PvP community in fleetcomm afaik, so there are no restrictions for applying for membership unless you've been previously banned for some reason. Its just that unsanctioned PvP there is an insta-ban, and Fleetcomm is purely exploration-focused so will always be the PvE PG for these kinds of events. I don't personally own or run the PG so you'd need to apply via the link posted on post #3 and the admin/owner will either accept or reject.
I'm not sure of anyone doing this in open to be honest. If it gets a 100+ sign ups, statistically I'm sure some will be going in open though.
ThxIf you go, let me know. I'll pop into open.
I'll be your wingman anytime.
Also it's a good idea to have a dirt cheap sidewinder onboard, just in case you need to suicide back at any point.

You don't really need an engineered ship for mining support, so you can buy and outfit a ship for that, and once you are done just sell it.

I remember that the presence of a station near Sag1 caused Npc pirates to appear in mining sites of the system, so maybe there would also be a need for armed escort ships to protect the miners? Anyone checked in beta if carrier presence in a far away system causes pirates to appear when mining?
Think i'm taking a smallish unengineered combat ship along just in case!![]()
I envisioned nimble mining ships and heavier cargo boats with refineries and limpets ferrying tritium back and forth. How does haulage work? Can't the miners just deliver straight to the carrier that needs fuelling?
