If you look at what's already been said about it - less than 6000 LY out, in a roughly core-ward direction, has Outfitting - there is exactly one possibility, unless Frontier add outfitting to a station which doesn't currently have it.

The only station with outfitting in that current range I can think of only has a 1D fixed cannon as available hardpoints and 1E refinery (despite being a mining station).

As for WP7 nearest outfitting is Colonia so they definitely need to change something so CMDR's that aren't dedicated miners can take part.

The first CG at Waypoint 2 will probably collect materials that will then be used to construct the station in the core, so that when we reach the core, the station will already be there. The organizers have already stated that this new station may have outfitting right away, although that is not certain yet.

The second CG will then probably collect materials to upgrade the station services, with every tier of the CG giving additional services.

There's not really any decent outfitting anywhere between the edge of the Sol bubble and the edge of the Colonia bubble (you could put together a *really* basic laser miner at Rohini). If you're transferring modules in you don't need it to be, though.

Frontier could temporarily add mining gear to the stock for the CG - but don't rely on that.

Hmm. While we're on the topic of "this CG is going to be a long way from useful facilities" ... that includes detention centres. If you commit a crime, your nearest detention centre will be a few thousand LY away for CG1 (you'll end up near Rohini), and 11,000 LY away for CG2 (you'll end up near Colonia).

Depending on your jump range that will be somewhere between "somewhat" and "extremely" annoying, so make sure you obey the law at all times.

..and just in case you're counting on IF: if the speculation is right, there's no IF in the area, either.

Of course, we may be dead wrong, and WP2 actually is near Rohini.

Hi guys, it's all well and good to speculate but please bear in mind you don't know if Frontier are going to be changing any stations, i.e. adding outfitting etc. so it could be quite a few. It's fun to speculate but we will not be confirming anything until last minute in order to avoid any kind of affect on the cohesion of the expedition.

For the first CG I'm hoping to transfer mining equipment that I've stored to make a Big Rig, but at least be able to help in some way otherwise. For the second CG, I may use my Colonia commander, Flossy2, who will also probably have a Big Rig. :)

Dr Kaii just posted on the fleetcomm discord that he is 98% sure that outfitting will be available at the core, and that you will be able to buy all mining related modules. Hes just waiting on official word. Looks like we wont have to worry about the journey from WP2-7.

A question. I've reluctantly decided not apply to join DW2 because eight months is a long time to be out of the bubble and away from BGS, Thargoids, etc. If there's a mining CG will it be publicised say a week in advance, and will it be OK for extra mining vessels to neutron-jump out there and join in? I like mining and I'd like to see a CG to build a station out near Sag.A* succeed.

BTW I realise how far it is. I've neutron-jumped to Sag.A* before and flown back with conventional jumps.

Yes, it will be announced in advance, and yes extra miners are more than welcome. The CGs aren't exclusive to DW2, anyone can take part in them if they wish to, so you don't need to be part of the expedition :)

That's great, thanks. I'll do my best to be there contributing.

Thx for the confirmation ;)

Both OPs have been amended. Frontier confirmed today, that the station at Waypoint 2 and the new station at Waypoint 7 will have Outfitting available. Mining gear can be bought at both stations and does not need to be taken along to the core, thus enabling better jumpranges for those who will participate in the CGs. With Outfitting it is also possible to transfer gear to the CG locations.

Dumb question, how can gear be transferred? By moving a ship holding it? I was planning on bringing my Cutter so that I can mine and still have exploration gear, under the assumption that I wouldn’t have a chance to refit until after the core station was built. If I can re-equip at CG1, I might bring a different ship entirely (that can turn in SC), since it wouldn’t be an issue to swap to a dedicated mining build and back.

You can transfer modules while docked to a station. Go to Outfitting and choose the option "Transfer" that is offered there. It will however only work, if you have gear stored somewhere. You'll have to do that before going on the expedition.
