Community Event / Creation Dynamic Forum Signature Generator

Hello all,

I have spent a few hours constructing a dynamic elite dangerous forum signature generator for all to use free of charge. Basically all you do is go to the page, type your commander name, select a background, select an occupation (can leave this blank if you like) then click submit. It will then give you a link for your image so that you can display it in your forum signature. If you go back and change something you may need to refresh your browser a few times for the final changes to display.

I would appreciate your comments and suggestions please - This is a first draft and I plan to add lots more features, images and occupations. One thing I plan to add in the future is an option to select different ships on the right hand side. I am also thinking of adding an option to select "backer" or "DDF Member" or "founder" etc. When the game is up and running I can develop more signatures to display stats too!

Here is where you can generate your own:
Generate Your Own Forum Signature

Here are some examples to wet your whistle:

Please feel free to use them anywhere you want and I look forward to seeing your feedback!

Pretty cool idea, I am sure mobius will want to spend his time in game when the time comes, this is a good solution for the newcomers! We as early adopters of ED get our own custom made designs...

Could you make the website address go the bottom right hand corner?

A Decent find, this will keep those members happy who really wanted a signature but are to proud to request one:rolleyes:

I agree, Mobius did the premium 'craftsman' version, the generator is the mass produced 'cookie cutter' edition.

nice website forum btw, but do you think its a good idea to risk rubbing people up the wrong way with this:
This website contains lots of things that are good, if you disagree, you have terrible taste in things.
on your home page?

everyone has their own opinions but saying someone has terrible taste if they disagree with your view could be seen as more than a little bit contentious

LOL!:D This is what it’s like being the small independent craft shop that has cornered the local market and then a big Sainsbury’s homebase Super Store moving in next door, With faster cheaper products.
Looks like I could be working on your pizza counter soon:eek:

Yes I can move that and may make it a little smaller so it does not draw away from the main purpose of the image, cheers for the feedback

I think the size of the text is fine... just being directly under the main text detracts you from the main message?

I hope that makes sense

how about a smaller version, same length, half height?

Nice work. So are you using Photoshop without the GUI on a webserver, or a process server behind a webserver? Or maybe Gimp or some other package? considering that the generator is accepting the requests straight from the address path, and the image contains no changing or updating info, wouldn't it lighten server load if people saved the image and hosted it themselves, or if the link provided was for a storage address instead regenerating the same image every time the page is reloaded?

You are right - if it gets too heavy on the server I may have to do as you say yes, the idea eventually when they game is released is to have stats on there, hence why I have done it this way to start with. It does already provide a link for a fixed storage address version so if it causes a problem I shall just remove the dynamic version (all fine at present).

+1
If these signatures will be widely used, the posts on the forum will be very difficult to read.
It would be desirable to see the signature is something like this:

And another question - can you get the data from the database of the game in the future, to fill their banners?
