Guys please. Now you're just farming the joke.
why would anyone use bots these days??
just wait for the next exploit to popup... much easier.![]()
You mean that very first result that says right at the top, 'Edit: not working anymore. Don't lose time with this?'
Second result only promotes it as a way to earn credits. Yawn. Skill per hour > credits per hour.
Third is this post. Lol.
Fourth is a guy asking about stuff in order to automate flight.
You made it sound like it was obvious to anyone. It's not. I'm not convinced this is a huge issue. Folks using this stuff are just wasting their energy. Y'all gonna have to pony up some evidence.
Aah, but did you DuckDuckGo it?
Bots? In a game where you can't fiscally benefit?
Let's be real here for a minute.
The vast majority of the playerbase aren't even capable of this.
DuckDuckGo brought up some interesting links, quite different from the Google search rankings.
However, they still don't seem to point to bots being a huge problem in the game. I saw bots from two years ago, 32bit bots that don't work, and an article that went into detail about the best way to cheat (trade bots, apparently, as Elite isn't designed well to accomodate many other types).
It seems there's a niche community running bots anyway, but that's kind of normal for most online games. Some people get more enjoyment from gaming the system than playing the game.
..Google will more likely send you links to websites..
LOL I only said it as I was reading up on DDG yesterday and switched over to it. Google change ur results based on what you do - you're all a data point to google and they'll make your search results appropriate to what they think is good for you.
DDG on the other hand encrypts your searches, doesn't save any data so have nothing to give to any authorities and protect your privacy so you don't get targeted ads which is why the results are different. For example, say you're into right wing conspiracy theories, Google will more likely send you links to websites that fit your narrative rather than giving you alternate websites, at least that's what the creator was saying in interview.
DuckDuckGo "12 things about duckduckgo" LOL
Kill off the BGS.
Devise some actual proper mechanics rather than stuff that is so simple it can be automated in such a way.
Remember when certain folk on here the other week were angrily asking when FD would implement a real time api mechanism, to query position, speed etc
It was never 'angrily asking'..
In any case, not sure what your point is. Maybe I have to have a crystal ball to inside your head or something? Or lower my IQ.. I don't know..
Regardless; I found out that 3.0 added GPS co-ords etc, altitude, and lots of other goodies. So, like is my way.. I wrote my own API
Even added a webserver so other machines on my LAN can query it.
I'm currently working on a planetary lander and POI marker system with auto pilot. Now whether Fdev allow that for public consumption is another matter. I know they won't allow an FMS even tho it's stupid easy to code.
As an absolutely not-casual BGS player, I'd like to ask...
what the heck are you talking about?

Yeah, DuckDuckGo is pretty cool alright. Funnily enough (and totally off-topic for this thread) I've had to learn about how search engine results change depending on cookies/etc for work recently.
What I've now done is set up a separate browser on my PC (usually Edge) and tell it not to allow any cookies, clear cache after each session, save no data and leave no trace basically. It has a similar effect to using a search engine in anonymous mode, and will give you results that haven't been influenced by the factors you mentioned. Of course Tor exists if I really need to be off the radar, which is not very often![]()
