If the screen is built in series is better and more cheap. Something created only for the Oculus would increase price and reduce reliability.
If the DK2 screen fries you can buy another one from Ebay and install it;)

there's an updated info on where to apply the same fix for the chromatic aberration as in 1.03.
I tried it and it works. Simply change the offset.

It really works. I realized it today as I couldn't quite place what's bugging me. I was trying to clean the lenses and was doubting my eyes until I remembered that 1.04 happened, erasing the old exe.

This small fix makes reading anything waaay easier. You can also see the difference on white objects (canopy struts in the Viper eg.) Before the fix they have a noticeable "halo". Afterwards it's nearly a straight white line with barely a distortion.

1.5 billion Windows PC's being used everyday. 275 million smartphones sold each year. The 'money' is clearly in both markets. It's just that in the PC market it's been a while since a hardware item became a 'fad'. OVR has a chance to achieve that. I see no evidence whatsoever PC users have become second class citizens by OVR. That really is just a silly statement you made there.

spent some good time last night streaming some conflict fights in-oculus after finally managing to get OBS to recognize the game. seeing as a number of you are waiting on devices or just want a nice current look at how things go down, would anybody be interested in a link the stream here when I get back on tonight?

Maybe asking a bit much.

I had to work when The event was on in Hull. Don't suppose anyone in the north lincs or Hull area has a OR2 setup I could have a look at/a go with. Have ordered one and know I have to build a new PC (which our lass has agreed to) but beginning to wonder if it's worth 2k of my hard earned money.

2k? You don't need to spend that much do you? Hope not because I'm in the same upgrade boat and was hoping to 'get away' with under 1500.

I'm down in NW London (Watford-Harrow area) which is probably a bit far unless you're down here for some other reason. I was pretty close to you coming down the A1 on Sunday, but it'll be some time before I'm due up that way again.

But if anyone else would like to try out a DK2 setup (I'm "only" running a factory overclocked NVidia 760 at the moment) to see what it looks like, drop me a line & I'll see what I can do...

The new SDK and firmware has locked me to 60Hz refresh rate in Elite, the option to up it to 75 is (red) and locked. Nvidia control panel shows the DK2 at 75Hz.. I have not changed a thing other than install the new SDK runtime. Any news?

  • Added a new chroma setting for minimum eye relief, improving chromatic aberration correction when configured through the Oculus Configuration Utility.

For some reason I am locked at 60Hz when I play Elite with my DK2 as a Secondary monitor in the Elite options . This used to be 75Hz. To get back to 75Hz I have to set my Rift as Primary monitor within windows and load Elite that way. Im not sure why its doing this, but its a backwards step compared to the last runtime. Unless Im missing something!

Best batch, I agree.. But.. I have a bad feeling it wont quite get here for September, there's a full month's worth of orders to go yet. I'm hoping I'm wrong though!
