Fps for those not wanting to run FRAPS

For those using voice attack and who don't want to run FRAPS there is a way to capture your FPS.

I added a command 'frames' to voice attack and assigned it ctrl F

The command 'screenshot' can then be used (F10) to capture a frame. These can be viewed later in 'libraries/pictures/frontier developments... The fps counter will be visible in the photo.

On my gtx780 OC I'm seeing lows in the 60s on the pad.

Yes same here. 780Ti max settings go from about 120 to 37 fps sat on the pad.

Does seem a bit extreme. Anyone else care to test?

@ RiftFlyer - Is that on a DK1 or a DK2?

It makes no sense that you are getting almost double the framerate in the same location (your 60 vs my 35) on a slower video card (your 780 OC vs my 780Ti OC)!

If it makes any difference, I recently updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest version 340.52

Anybody know if these new drivers might be the cause?

I see you mention G35, are you running the rift with the service Lcore active ?
Because i shut it down, as advised from oculus. But would like the better soundscape the unit provide.

LGS works fine with the rift. The warning, if you look at the date was given in early 2013 then the original dk1 came out. I'm quite certain that those problems were addressed since, but old messages never die; like memes of the month. ;)

I'm on the latest drivers (340.52) with 770GTX (OC) and having issues
SlackR? I hope you are on older drivers...will give me something to try

It's on DK2 I disabled tripple buffering in nvidia settings. I had worse performance with it on. I'm not certain which driver I'm running. I updated recently. Will have to check. I'm basing the 60s numbers off a few screenshots today in chango dock and Aulin enterprise flying the hauler. I may have lower fps at times. I've no easy way of checking.

That's a bit odd. Triple buffering is an OpenGL setting - E: D uses DirectX... at least that's what I thought?

Yeah haven't installed the latest driver from NVIDIA because I was happy with the way things were performing. Going to do some CPU test speeds tomorrow and see what's going on... There's a guy on reddit saying he over clocked to 4.4 on his 4770 k and gets a smooth experience...

Things are def weird since the new BETA tho...

Ps. Just bought a shiny new Anaconda

I also noticed that the game feels way different upon loading each time... Even tho you are in the same location. It's not like Eranin station is always choppy and Chango is smooth... I am getting different experiences in the same place, which seems to suggest it is on their end, not mine.

Not sure if its the exactly the same, but I can remove rift go to the galley to get a Dandelion and Changodock, come back and its a totally different experience.
(I suspect this is because I leave a high activity area for deep space)

I rolled back to previous Nvidia drivers (can't remember the number but it was the last official release before the current drivers) and my judder dissapeared :) I mean its till slight in the cockpit when in space station but apart from that its quite smooth. I am running on a mixture of low to medium settings and my GPU is only a 570 (I have plans to upgrade this week) but its such a drastic improvement for me from just rolling back my drivers. Give it a shot guys! :)

My wife has just offered to buy me a dk2 after seeing my new trackir in action. However I am unsure if it is suitable for someone with limited technical know how. I was initially thinking of waiting until a consumer version was out but time goes on and people do seem to expound about the dk2. So, do you think it worth while? How easy (or hard) is it to get working? I don't mind fiddling around a bit! And finally, how do you use the keyboard at the same time? Forgive me if the questions are either naive or asked before!

If you are comfortable with a bit of tinkering and reading up on how to fix issues its not that bad at all.. Its a dev kit so there is alot of things that are broken in the current SDK right now but they will be fixed in the coming weeks. The resolution leaves a bit to be desired but the immersion really is game changing. The positional tracking is light years ahead of Track IR (I own both)

Question to all.

Since the rift configuration utility is disabled in the current setup to play and kn owing that the game configuration request the commander's genre, anyone knows if the game is reading the rift profile parameters - like IPD and height?

I have my height set in the rift profile yet in game I seem to have one very tall torso... like having a hip to eyes about 1 1/2 time higher than my ole self.

Mine just got delivered !
It does appear that there is a central hub in Austarlia for Australian orders and they are then getting shipped out from there.
