Tea for preference. :D and if my son who's 14 and now taller than me. (I'm 5'9" :eek:) jumped on my knee I'd probably be in traction for the next 6 months.

Total noob here. I got my DK2 earlier in the week and can't seem to get E:D working (I couldn't make the DK1 work either). I tried SlackR's approach earlier in the thread, but E:D wouldn't give me the option to run on the secondary monitor. It would start up with DK1, but no headtracking and the stereo image was way off so I would still see two images.

I'm sure there's something easy I'm missing. I hope there is.

It's pretty straightforward.

Assume you have Runetime installed and have the SDK 0.4

You need to kill wscript in task manager, and then OVRService_x64 (or x32 i guess if you have only that)

Set Rift display mode to Extended Mode. Make sure the windows see it as a secondary monitor and that it's a 75Hz monitor. I had to set the orientation to portrait as well.

then launch the game. change the mode to ocluls rift (speakers) and then set it to render in the secondary display.

That is really all you need to do to get started.

After that it's all tuning the controls and graphics to your preference.

I think this assume you HAD SDK 0.3 to start with, as I believe this method takes a bit from one and alot of the other.

I would start again and work though the list from the beginning ... Chances are you missed something... PM me if still no joy

This is pretty much it for 7 out of 10 cases.. But some people are having issues with camera's, USB ports, aero, vsync, and logitech drivers...

The sooner we get an update to the new SDK, the better. In my opinion, Elite should be the DK2 flagship game, there's nothing out there comes even close! :D

Read an interesting one on reddit just now where someone mentioned that unplugging the (currently unnecessary) power adapter was all it took to get his working.

That shouldn't be plugged in in the first place... Just for extra juice if you a jacking direct to the rift.

In some ways I'm glad mine won't arrive until September / October.

Gives you lot a chance to work out all the niggles so I can (hopefully) just plug and play! ;)

Although I've had a DK1 for over a year and I spent alot of that time in racing sims, this game and the DK2 is defining what Virtual Reality is to me.

This is literally a looking glass into a whole other universe, and you feel like you're in it with a DK2.

Hi!

Now when people have start to get their DK2's maybe its time to ask how my rigg will be able to handle it.

Will I be able to play Elite with DK2 on a playable framerate? (what is playable in the rift? :S )

And what settings can I count on to using with i?
And what settings can I use if I dont use the DK2?

i would say it will play just fine on low detail.

any higher and you will be sacrificing frames.

it could be you can tweak settings. i have not tried, i just thought medium was a bit stuttery, and low wasn't.

(your processor is stronger than mine, but, whilst i have less memory than you, chances are my GTX 670 may be faster as i am overclocking it (heavily)**.... truth is, the difference between my 670 and yours imo will not be enough to make a huge difference in ED.)

**unless you are overclocking yours of course

A bunch of people have been complaining that one eye seems blurrier than the other (myself included)... I tried different calibration things and figured in the end it must just be my eyes... Until someone suggested removing the lens and cleaning it!

DOH! Turns out there was a big smudge on the inside of the lens cap this whole time! :p

No more blur!

Is there a way to output the game screen to the other monitor so people can see what Im seeing with that double view? I wanted to 'fly' the ship for friends who aren't necessarily games so they can look around while I give them a galactic tour :D
