Yes, would very much like an app with a lot of stats, a journey log with all locations i have been to, my ships details, galnet news.

According to Gartner it's 83.1%

And yes, I eagerly anticipate the release of this App on Android! (ie I'm super excited!) My Nexus 6 will arrive tomorrow (hopefully) and there's nothing more I'd like (when not playing ED) than to be able to have the Android app with me where ever I go.

App for Android

Can't wait, any news as to when this will be available, why does the apple apps get released first?

I'm looking forward to the windows phone version myself.

It can wait, as I know i's not really a huge necessity to the game, though would be nice.

What are the functions currently supported by the app? Does it work real time, letting you interact with the game as you play it on your PC?

Wanted to use it to keep in touch with my Eagle while at work

same function as the apple app

+1. Why not HTML5 version for a BYOD? My suspicion is that they are worried about the ease at which you can decompile android apps or just look at the source of a HTML5+js app and see their API calls (not that you cant just do this with the game itself on windows already to see all their API calls going on)

Because Apple makes money on every app sold, while Android is for the most part, open source...

I, too, am waiting for the android app... sigh

I think after christmas is an answer to a lot of questions, it's just been released so its the perfect time to let things settle and see how the players direct the course of the galaxy. Then we will start to see more things.

i have both apple and androids.. and so i tried it on my ipad.. aside from seeing the market where your landed (not anywhere else) its pretty useless..

Yeah fair point - its a nice way of doing a phased launch; i.e. only launch to a device with small market share first and see how the servers hold up.

Someone told me they used a cross platform framework to make the game, so Id guess its only on iOS because thats all they tested it on so far.

I admit, I would have gone for a html5+js option myself too though if I was developing it. I cant imagine it needs native level performance or access. So, yeah, it might be a security thing. (although, honestly, as long as the javascript is obfuscated/minified its not going to be much easier then anything else to hack). Might also just be developer preference. Go with what you know.

That's kinda what I figured. If I wanted to see the market where.my ship was, surely I'd do it on the pc, not on my phone? Sounds like they wanted to have an app coz it's "cool" but didn't really have any idea what to DO with it.

Pretty useless app atm. Maybe it'll get better but, right now, it's little more than a precursor to a Microsoft Xbox useless "See your character's picture!" app thingy, which I have to think may just be the case?

Eventually Id like too see the game feature an encyclopaedia that expands as you explore and scan stuff, as well as a personal logbook you can write.
Both of those features would also be ideal for a phone app.
