Horizons will continue along with critical updates - servers will stay on. But active development in Elite on console has ceased.
I feel vindicated, after all these years of garbage commitment to consoles, the coup de grace is finally here.
I’ve been calling FDEV on their Junk for years and been met with some pretty harsh criticism from other forum dwellers for calling them out, and it’s bittersweet to be right in the end.
Alas, I’m truly sorry to anyone who still had faith, though. We all wanted to believe!

@Fdev, incase your not aware of it...
The ramifications of your decision will result in the loss of all future purchases of ANY fdev products. Merch, games, anything.
This will result in a complete loss for fdev in all future endeavors.
To make this decision, especially without 100% guarantee that's console users can move all their progress, purchases, arx ect, and direct a compensation to console users who have been waiting for Odyssey by giving them a free copy on PC, if they don't already own it there as well (I do but never use it, less than 24 hours of game time, mostly to experience Odys!), with their profile moved over, is just a complete slap in the face to users like myself with double elite, over 2000 first discovered systems, and billions of credits in game, and hardeware purchased specifically for ED on console, Thrustmaster HOTAS (there are much better HOTAS for PC available but only 1 for XBOX), who have been patiently waiting for Odyssey and the additional content that comes with it.
Not too even mention, that there are lots of Xbox users like myself, who both own the entire game on Xbox, purchased in full, as well as, play ED on Xbox Game Pass Mobile, which means, not only has Fdev been paid for the game from users like me, but they get paid continuously for each time we play on game pass as well !! And fdev intends to continue collecting game pass money and not give us Odyssey??!?!!
So making money hand over fist from console users, but unwilling to provide any new content... WOW. Just wow fdev.
Yea, won't be purchasing any future fdev products again, and I believe many others will feel the same.
Edit/Addon: at the very least, a guarantee that someone like myself, or a new PC user, could nuke thier unused/new PC account, and have their complete Xbox/PS profile, ships, discoveries, modules, arx, EVERYTHING, moved, en mass, to a PC profile, that alone would be atleast 25% less of disaster in this situation. But with only "we're looking into possibilities " as the response, this is just... too ridiculous to discuss politely almost.... and NO, converting ships ect to credits value, and nothing else, as is your current practice, isn't good enough... thats why I've never done it....
I want my ranks, my permits, my ships, everything, or no dice.... its simply unfair....
Especially since PC has had Odyssey for a year and we were lead to believe until today, it would eventually come to atleast the Xbox One and PS4 series consoles, with next gen consoles being told long ago there were no plans for beyond using the standard Xbox one/ps4 versions of the game on those consoles.....

Agreed 100% on this, I too brought a Hotas for Elite on Xbox and been totally
B slap 
to only find out news today 
I would also want a “merge” in order to not lose my Odyssey progress on my PC CMDR.
Or just a one-off package of Ranks and Materials … the credits and ships will be easy enough to get.
I have several heavily engineered ships, that's not easy to replace, especially my 65Ly anaconda and my tank of a Corvette....
Nah uh.... not happening... the effort to get those the way they are, we are talking weeks, not hours! That's unacceptable to not be able to have transferred

I guess I can just delete the game. Won't move to PC cause I wont support a company that abandons a large part of their player base. Just gonna wash my hand of this game and developer. Best of luck to all.
Short answer is “no”.I'm a console player and I have my console linked to my FDev account. I bought elite for the PC in 2015, totally forgot I had, and just discovered that I hadIt was purchased on the same frontier account the my console is linked to. Can I use the same account on PC and Console? I know my "stuff" isn't transferable, but just wanted to make sure trying the PC version with that frontier account won't wipe my console progress that uses the same frontier account. Does that make sense?
I have a PS and PC Account … both with the same in-game name … both linked to the same Frontier account.
They are totally separate CMDRs though I would definitely like to “merge” them to have both Horizons and Odyssey progress available to me on PC now …
I will transfer my xbox credits to PC account, Frontier shall provide a way to transfer all progress, ranks and ships (Corvette, Imperial Cutter) this is not possible today. If they suddenly decide to stop console support, at the same time they had to announce their plans for account transfer to PC.. by hey who I am to ask anything from Frontier, just a very good customer with 5 accounts...
Had such high hopes that ED was heading to take SC for a run for it's money by being fully operational, multi platform, and amazingly detailed.... but now, just disheartening to have to loose and redo all progress if I want to play on Odyssey, while PC users get to keep all their progress... just unfair and a total slap to the face....
so unless Fdev give us an option to move our accounts over to PC for free there no point to playing on the console let alone ever supporting Fdev in anything again if there going to juse F us all over.

What a shame, thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars in support gone. I am hoping for an account transfer to PC, but I'm not that hopeful. I love Elite Dangerous, and it was the first game I REALLY REALLY cared about for years without fail. Luckily, Nothing will ever take away the amount of fun and friends gained through Elite on Xbox.

I'm semi salty with this disheartening news. Play on both PC and XBX but....
XBX only has Horizons/Horizons Seasons Pass and PC only has Odyssey
Some 95% of my game progression on XBX.
Which means some 98% of my wealth/game progression is on XBX, since my CMDR has yet to leave the tutorial system on PC.
Which really sucks since only PC will have Odyssey from here on. Basically what had kept me on hold from seriously playing ED/until FDev officially released it for consoles later.
Now this news which now forces me to abandon XBX completely for PC because Odyssey is now only going to be on this.
Which now fatally means 99% of all custom paint jobs and vanity item fandangles I paid via Arx & real life cash for are going to be vaporized upon CMDR transfer
Just when I thought this post Covid inflation here in US was bad enough, along comes $7USD per gallon gas prices. Just when I thought that couldn't get any worse in costing an arm, leg and brain organ transplant just to leave the house every morning, along comes Armageddon. And the potential reality of Bethesda's Fallout with a looming WW3 staring us v Russia/China/India.
And just when I'm thinking what else could possibly go wrong on this side of the salt water pond, O let me escape the grim reality of the real world just for a little bit, along comes this TKO.... >,<
Looks like Murphy's Law been having a really good time kicking my teeth in lately. Based on the wording of the one time console to PC transfer, it seems any special preorders/perks that came with past Horizons Season Pass are going to be nuked as well. So getting reimbursed any dollar value from cosmetics like the exclusive ASP gold paint job and snowflake bobbleheads from earlier Seasons Passes are DOA.
Ah well. Not so gentle and poignant reminder about the risks of straying too far outside the gaming realm of the PCMR. Assuming our real life Sol within our Milky Way galaxy continues to exist---making that still a possibility that is

Odyssey is obviously going over their heads, they even struggle with the pc version.
Even if they come up with a full account transfer from console to pc I wouldn't buy another copy.
Fdev is obviously not competent enough to do what other developers do, I'm talking about a lot smaller developers too.
I recently got my Series X, no way in the world would I ever buy a pc just to play ED Odyssey, ugh and then find out a year later that development will be canceled as a whole maybe?

I love NMS too and switched to Xbox last fall mainly for flight simulator and star field. NMS is an awesome game, but definitely different from Elite. It won’t have that same feel of looking up at the sky, choosing a star, and then going to visit it in game though. That’ll be missed for sure. I’m not deleting ED, but I’m not going to be investing a lot of time into it anymore. Set my FC to decomm and I’m in my explorer so I’ll roam around every once in a while. I’m also looking forward to starfield and really hoping it’s good and not just hype. Also have GTA V for my series S preordered so I’ll be back into that next week. I’d say I have enough to keep me busy.
