Well, my issues appear to have been at least in part due to dodgy Ethernet over power adapters. Swapped them for new ones and we shall see......

Server down? [9.37am 05/11]

as title, anyone else having trouble connecting? the start button in the main menu is red for me.

EDIT: and its back

Not red for me, however I've had occasions at the weekend when it was. Waiting seemed to be the key, and sometimes restarting the client got me another connection (probably to another host).

I'm guessing it's server load, as I've also had transaction problems during outfitting and trading that require multiple retries, and the occasional boot back to the main menu by a server disconnection.

I'm fine with this during beta, however I'm hoping Frontier are expanding their server back end to accommodate launch, as this sort of thing won't be forgiven by joe public.

I didn't do anything... I also have a ticket open on this issue, and have sent them the connection logs.

It seems as though the servers are either really slow (or completely unable) to respond to the connection requests in a timely manner. Since it can't connect, it just reds out the Start button. I think it periodically retries the connection, however, since I've seen a red start button appear grey after sitting at the screen for about five minutes.

Really hope they get this resolved before go-live, though, because the number of people flooding in will completely overwhelm servers that can't handle beta traffic seamlessly now.

FWIW, here is what support had me do:

> Please access your AppConfig.xml which can be found in your game directory and open this in Notepad. You'll see a block near the bottom named "Network". Please insert the following lines somewhere in that block -

> ReportSentLetters="1"
> ReportReceivedLetters="1"
> VerboseLogging="1"

> This will produce a more detailed NetLog for us. If you could, please save your AppConfig file with these lines and then load the game again. After you close the game the NetLog can be found in your game directory with the date and time of your play session in the title. Attach this log to this ticket and let us know when you have done so.

If you are going to open a ticket about this issue (and you should), go ahead and do this step ahead of time and send your NetLog with the original ticket. Save yourself a step :)

servers disconect all the time

hye fella's i get disconected from the servers all the time :s i can't even go solo :( whats going on today? only my 3th day on ED but didn't had this problem yesterday :s

Going solo fixed it for me, but open a ticket about it. The more people they hear from, the more Frontier is aware of the problem (and the more logs/experience/cases they have to triangulate for a solution!)

Failed To Synchronize Time With Server???

Today I got a message "Failed to synchronize time with server". ED was running fine since I purchased and installed last week. I've done the following:

1 - Confirmed that clock is correct and synced to internet.
2 - Deleted ED - restarted and installed launcher.

There have also not been any changes to my AV software. Any ideas?? Please???

Still no luck. I can't believe I'm the only person who has had this issue.

What info would you require to help me get to the bottom of this?

Well I've tried that and no luck.

I uninstalled - rebooted - installed again and still get the same message. So I'm at a loss as to what to try next, or what to check.

Well even after re-syncing and installing still the same error. The funny thing is all my other online games are functioning fine.

I'm guessing that there is something that is not being reset by a simple uninstall-reboot and reinstall. I'm not a computer whiz but would there be something in the registry?

It's nothing to do with the launcher being out of date.

This should work....

Bottom right of the task bar/screen, left click on the time.. then select change time and date settings at the bottom.
Go to 3rd tab "Internet Time".
Select Change Settings.
Make sure "Synchronize with an internet time server" box is checked.
Then select "Update now".

If it gives an error message saying failed, select one of the other time servers from the drop down box and try again.
Once you get "The clock was successfully synchronized with xxx.xxx.com on [today's date]" then you will be able to run the launcher again.

:)

Server connection reliability

FDev servers dropped me.

Due to a time critical delivery I picked up a 132K credit fine.

Not my fault, I had 10 minutes in the bag to deliver the good and was in hyperspace on my way to deliver.

After 9 minutes of futile re-logon attempts - despite ALL my other internet connections working fine - I now have a 132K credit fine.

Very very unimpressed.

This must be sorted before go-live, or FDev will get eaten alive on the forums.

I've used Revo for uninstall. So that's not the issue. I'll try as T-Dog says when I'm at my home PC this evening. I hope it fixes it, and I'll be sure to report back.
