Its is "fixed" if you do a "clear save" I beleive you have a mission that is in a bad state that can't be completed or timed out.

In your network log you will probably have something like this.

{10:16:57} Disconnect: MissionUpdateFail-Timeout (6)
{10:16:57} Disconnect: MissionUpdateFail-Timeout (6)
{10:16:57} Someone requested a crash: MissionUpdateFail-Timeout

Yes, I ended up trying that last night just so I could play.

I think there were maybe a couple of bounty hunting missions that had timed out. Maybe something got messed up during the upgrade.

Yes I must take into account that the server will fail during a mission?

It may be sensible to consider this as a special case, however I doubt very much that linking mission time remaining to actual play time (as opposed to real-time) will happen.

Hello,

Nobody can tell when the servers will be down or how long they will be down.

Indeed, see above.

Regarding being called upon to deal with RL issues - that's all part of the game and you are not alone in having to address RL issues when you are gaming. Regarding stopping mission timers - if you were in combat at the time then you would not be able to log out (quickly) and would likely lose your ship. If you were docking or undocking then logging off inside the station would probably gain a fine for trespassing when you logged back in.

What about just taking care of the server crash issue?
When the server crashes, then the mission timers should be stopped until the player logs in again.

FWIW I had two close to expiry missions on server down yesterday.

When the server came back up I have +20 ish hours on them, not sure if intentional or bug though.

This sounds like the best course of action.

Interesting....

When this happened to me (about two weeks ago) I went to bed after waiting more then 20 minutes.
Then I did not play for some days (RL).

So it would be cool if the timer would be stopped until I log in again.
Just for the case that the server crashes!

Just to add some detail to my experience above.

I had a bunch of missions, and ONLY the ones that were very close to expiring (one had 17 mins left) got the +~20 hours post server outage.

The other missions where I had plenty of time left didn't get a time alteration at all.

I guess on server up (and before it's live) it would be very easy for someone to pop in and run a quick DB update to add 20 hours or so all missions that are due to expire within 30 mins. You're not going to catch all cases but it solves a lot of the core mission issues.
