It just means a call back to the server failed or possibly got an unexpected answer. I got the error when buying a module upgrade and when I went back in the list had updated and the item I was trying to buy wasn't there anymore. I just assumed that was the cause and bought something very similar successfully.

Careful what you ask for (see above)
If you pull the network cable out the back of your PC while playing you'll get that error. It also happens when comms fails, i.e. the server doesn't respond in enough time. You should be able to see in your netlog that it tried to get an update from the server several times before it then kicks you out.
Why it doesn't respond? Either it's too busy, it forgets what the conversation was about, it doesn't understand the request, etc etc.
Keep logging tickets with netlog files and any details until they fix it
I am unable to find the netlog file, doesn't seem to be there. Nor the AppConfig.xml file.

Frequent, periodic "cannot connect to server" messages while in solo. This situation was less frequent over the weekend, but now, Monday, it's quite bad. Haven't been able to leave the dock for my first flight today. I think the fish will go bad and the consumer technology will soon be out of date.

- Exit the game
- Reload to main menu
- Load the training "Docking" tutorial
- Quit to main menu
- Start -> Open Play

Similar thing here. I started out in Open play and lost connection as I was dropping out of FSD -- the game was just stuck on the animation where your ship rocks around a bit right before the stardock appears. Game finally crashed. Received "cannot connect to server" a couple times, including the authentication server. Loaded it back up in solo play, game looked okay until I tried to FSD, and it froze again. Log out, got the "cannot connect to server". Just got the error again in the middle of an intediction evasion.
Now I have a 129k bounty and 80k credits to my name because I didn't make the gold delivery I was supposed to.
Well your not alone im seeing the exact same thing in solo at aulin and styx took me a bout 4 goes to get docked so i have quit out and saved to be on the safe side.

Yes, same here. Playing in solo mode and have had multiple instances of "cannot connect to server" messages! I have found captain Kremmens method works well to get back into the game. However it does not stop the recurrence of these messages. I'm going to go off and play some BF3 until they sort it out.

I seem to keep getting the "Cannot connect to server" message, I just got a 10K bounty and it gives me the message. After about 5 attempts to log into the server i connect my bounty is not there and my ship is 65km away from its destination where i was 10mins ago?
I seem to have a very in-consistent connection to the server it sometimes is perfect i jump from system to system with zero time stuck warping. Other times it takes 5-10 mins. I have a 100mb/sec connection with a 15 ping to servers around Europe so assume it is an issue with the server. Any suggestings
Other issues ive had; logging back in after saving in a stations hanger, i appear stuck inside the stations model, with a trespass warning.
Ive also warped into a system and the sun hasnt appeared and i ended up burning to death not being able to avoid it.
Also ive been out in deep space far away from any planet or sun and ive overheated to 250% and died, without doing anything different than normal?

Can't clear resources on server error
Hi All,
Whilst mining I get an error message in the comms window saying it can't process resources due to a server connection error, No matter what I try I don't seem to be able to clear the problem. I've tried restarting, changing ships, etc - but to no avail. Any ideas before I raise a ticket?

Yeah had this twice, I've stopped playing for a while hoping it's a server issue
AH! OK, There's not a lot to do without the mining at the moment, I'll have to give it a rest until they sort it I guess.
