Discussion EDCoPilot adds new "time trial" racing feature to the huge list of things this "virtual cockpit assistant" can do

The second in my trilogy of legacy Kumay SRV time trials - Launch Pad!

What. The. F.
I mean, yeah, we technically play the same game, but... what!? Then again, I have two legs and Usain Bolt has two legs.

[Edit: In case you're wondering, I'm deeply, deeply impressed by absolutely everything I saw in those videos. Including the camera work.]

It's insane.

I just don't know how they do it, really - I'm 100% certain I would lose all chassis integrity and get boiled up at the first jump.

Will most likely be the result of the first few attempts if you floor it, yes. Only a Jedi would be able to get the vehicle under control without practising.
I would advise to start with small jumps and less speed in the beginning, learning how the SRV reacts to your steering input mid-air. The speed comes quite naturally with practice.

You become one with the buggy. The SRV is the most visceral experience in speed and control and feedback. Scale has to do a lot with it, controls and sound. If you like what you see going faster is a natural evolution with the SRV but this level of mastery requires it's own level of dedication.

Razzafrag (the developer of EDCoPilot) has come up with the following promotion to try and encourage a few more folks to gives these time trials a go.

Tempting.

I would like to report that HIP 64874 9 f now is inhabited by Klingons.
Although I feel like this wasn't their initial idea when they showed up on the starboard bow of my SRV.
It took some inpired SRV driving (or better flyving) to turn their BoPs into some provisional housing to convince them that this would be a better idea than attacking me.

I have a question.

Is there a way in EDCoPilot to bookmark a location on a planet in order to be able to return there?

I'm out and about scanning some greenery and ran into a dilemma. I have landed on a new planet and found some Osseus and some Tubus not far from each other, two species that 1. have a quite large genetic diversity perimeter and 2. seem to have the tendency to grow in small patches that are hundreds of kilometers apart.
Now I would love to be able to scan one of the two and mark the locations of the other species I might find while searching. Is there any functionality that might help me there?

Nice one. I haven't used EDCoPilot's bookmarking facilities really so wasn't well placed to advise.
In this case, it was one of those automatic bookmarks that EDCoPilot takes if you scan a plant. If you look at the Information tab, you'll find some symbols at the end of each line of plant data, which will lead you to the saved coordinates. I will have to take a closer look at if it suffices to scan them with the comp scanner to have the location saved, though.
But I'll definitely dive deeper into this bookmark system, as one sometimes finds some interesting spots you might want to revisit at a later time.

Totally forgot...

EDCoPilot seems to have lost the ability to count correctly. If you scan a plant for the first time, it states that correctly. But when scanning the second sample of the same species, it tells you again that you did your first scan. The third scan is then counted as the second one. But afterwards, you are nevertheless congratulated on completing the sample.

I recently had an odd crash occuring.
It happens after starting up the copilot and the game. If I would tab over to the copilot, head to the "Information" tab and open the "Biologicals" subtab, the copilot would shut down, allegedly attempting a restart. But it wouldn't come back unless I would start it anew from the windows start menu. The copilot mentions that it would send a crash report to support.

Are you in the EDCoPilot discord? Just wanted to say that for general reporting of issues you’ll get a much better response from the developer over there than in this forum thread about the time trial racing feature.

No, I'm not. Discord and other chats are often a little too quick for me - I miss a lot of messages because I can't read that fast.
I tend to prefer forums, as you have some time to think about what you want to say and still be able to relate your post to the message that made you think in the first place.

But you are right, this might not be the best place for this issue...
