EDDiscovery 18.X is now out. Modules panel upgrades and Engineering

Just a quick question for clarification...

The estimated scan values appear to be taking into account First Discovered and First mapped bonus', and I also noticed that mapping an already mapped body is not giving any value at all...are these correct, and reflective of a more accurate estimate?

Recently I refit my starter Sidewinder and have been flying it around, but the Statistics panel in EDD is not tracking it. It does show a second Sidewinder I have, but it has no info on my current ship. Previously it has tracked my Asp, Phantom, and all my historical ships just fine. Is this a known issue?

This is how his EDD looks like:

adf.pngships.pngstats.png

So it's there in the ships tab but not in the stats tab.

Actions I've taken:
  • I've changed the ID of the missing Sidewinder to ZESTY so that it is unique. I restarted ED and EDD. I re-read all journal files.
    • The tracked ship is ID'd as MILO-S Hummingbird Sidewinder (15)
    • The untracked ship is ID'd as ZESTY LEMON Sidewinder (0)
  • I swapped ships to a non-Sidey and to the tracked Sidey.
  • I bought a new ship. It appears in the By Ship stats.
  • This is my original Sidewinder, so it has been in my journals since the beginning.
    • I outfit the ship during the special character bug that excluded hyphens, hence the original MILOS id.
Observations:
  • The ship info is reflected in History and Ships/Loadout, so it is in the journal files.
  • Statistics reflects my travel activities in terms of jumps and travelled ly; so it is updating.
  • Statistics By Ship does not show the Zesty Lemon Sidewinder at all.
  • The Lemon stats are not being rolled into the Hummingbird stats.
Conjecture:
  • I looked through the code briefly and no obvious bugs jumped out at me. I would guess that when the database is queried for a list of ships, something about the Where clause or the Ship Tuple being used is not as unique as is being assumed.
Obviously this is a minor bug, but I can open an issue for this on github if desired.

I've tried to find the answer to this as it must have been asked before, but I can't see it.

I'm setting up a new laptop and was wondering if I just need to copy the EDDiscovery folder from Program files, or if there's something lurking elsewhere which also needs copying. I really don't want to have to try and remember my settings and wait hours for everything to sync up.

Thanks in advance.

There is a file called EDDuser.sqlite in %localappdata%\EDDiscovery (if I remember correctly, if not it's in %appdata%\EDDiscovery ) that contains all your settings, log file entries and other things.
If you downloaded the system data from EDSM there's also a file named EDDsystem.sqlite in that folder.

Thanks, that was very helpful, just have last 24 hours to sync instead of everything (y)

Oh, ED Discovery has a tendency to fill up my video ram of all things. Yes, I know I should close it and reopen it more frequently, and I do once my vid ram is full. I have a 1080ti with 11gb, and after about a week of EDD running, it is taking up 90% of it. As soon as I close EDD, my vid ram usage goes from 90% to 10%. It slowly creeps up in classic memory leak style.

Yikes, I never paid attention to that. I think I'll have to restart it more frequently.

update:
Just realized the memory usage comes from reading the history. Maybe my log files are too large. Should I cut them?
But it's just 417Mb, not likely that this is the cause. Same with the new version, btw.

The logs do have a lot of dross in them, there are a couple of settings in a Memory box on the settings tab. Entries to read specifies how many days worth to read all of (from forever to just a week) and Essential Entries defines what to read beyond that limit.

I run with >7 days old and All entries for statistics which gives me 299,750 journals in memory at the minute and a memory footprint of 3.7GB.

If you have all of the EDSM systems downloaded and open the 3D map then that footprint will go up. I don't think it's currently released when you close the map without restarting the application so it would stay high (a new 3D map is currently WIP and should be better).

ETA - I always close it after every session. I keep a batch file shortcut on my desktop that opens the Elite launcher and all the 3rd party apps I run alongside it in one click. I'm yet to write something to close them all the same way....

I've never noticed that, I'll have to look and see if I get the same thing - an unnoticed memory leak is certainly possible.

Are you using the 3D map during that week?

I typically do leave the 3d map up, yes. And as you noted above, the map appears to hold onto the memory, as closing out of just the map doesnt make a difference.

3dmap does hold memory. Hopefully this autumn it will be replaced.

Limit the history shown on the history panel.. populating all of your history to that panel also uses up a lot of memory. I populate it with just the last 3 months of history.

Another version, with a nice new mining panel.

Noticed a minor issue with the new version, not sure if it is this end or at EDSM, however the EDSM button under the current systems no longer takes me to the page of star system, just brings up an error page. A search for the system on the front page of EDSM bring up the correct system.
