Even more awesome app with voice attack!

Figured I would try using Voice Attack with the ED Engineer app. It works great! Now to open and close the overlay I just say "materials".

Such a great addition to elite!

Interesting...Did you do that yourself ? ..I know how to make the command easy enough, but how did you integrate Ed engineer with VA ? ..did you simply install ED E to the VA apps folder, or drag a dll file over...that's the bit I'm unsure about

I just added a command when I say "materials" press keys CNTRL+8. (changed it from the default to 8)
 
that's a feature often asked and not very hard to implement I believe, but it almost feel like feature creep to me. that would complicate the application quite a bit and could be a bit disorienting especially given how much the app offers right now (I think the large majority of EDEngineer users aren't even aware of the threshold feature for instance).

however, it's definitely possible to use EDEngineer API (local server, check the wiki on github) to extract any data you want and work on that on your side (with script if you know a bit of programming, or Excel for example)

What about the other case? The materials on the left panel highlighted according to the list of blueprints in the right table. Is a feature already available?
 
Would it be much effort to let us bind a key to reset window ?
For some reason (maybe cuz i have 3 screens and different resolutions ) at startup or after moving it around,locking and unlocking , it puts the window off center and halfway of the screen and i cant reach the unlock or reset button so have to go down to desktop and rightclick on the icon in the windows bar which closes all other screens i have etc . ;) bit of a pain.
It would be a nice thing to have , also can bind it to Voice attack also then ^^ , damn its so cool to just call out "blueprint menu" and have your amazing proggie popup ;)

i have few questions:
1) when installing the app a shortcut wasn't created on the desktop, is it possible to have it done automatically during install?
2) what is the default path for installation?
3) the path for the saved configuration as appears on GIT %USERNAME%\AppData\Local\EDEngineer doesn't exists on my PC , any other possible paths and also worth to update the web page...
4) Is it possible to change the default colors to be anything but Orange (original ED like)

You can run the application with the "appref-ms" here (works in command line with double quotes too):

"C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\EDEngineer\EDEngineer.appref-ms"

The application uses either AppData\Local\EDEngineer or AppData\Roaming\EDEngineer to store information (if you installed recently, it's in the Roaming folder ; for older installations it's in Local)

The binary itself is installed in an application folder that is created and handled by Windows directly (in C:\Users\%USERNAME\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0) in a similar fashion that it would handle applications from Windows Store.
 
Fantastic app to help clear Frontiers cloud over engineers.

Another step closer to making this a one stop app for engineering would be showing the rolls of the desired mod, any chance of that happening?

I have a spreadsheet that does a lot of this, but of course does not read the log and is not nearly so pretty, so would MUCH rather rely on EdEngineer. Could I humbly make a few observations and suggestions:

1) Could we please have different Icons for the Ship Salvage Combat/Transport/Security and Military

2) There may be a good reason to have Favorites and Shopping List requirements as separate things, but AFAIAC, if its on my Shopping List, its a Favourite. Trying to keep the 2 in sync is too much admin for my tiny brain. Adding or removing from my Shopping List should be enough to toggle the Favorite status of a Material.

3) Could we please have the Shopping List Totals on the Main Materials form (-4 if you need 4 more to complete your list, or +20 if you have 20 more than required by your shopping list) ? Shopping list list is OK, but it doesnt help a great deal when you are trying to clear your excess, or identify what sort of gathering activity would be best.

4) Some more filters on the main materials list, Favorites is not that helpful for me (see above). Would love a filter to show only materials that I currently am short of on the shopping list. Combine this with 3 and 1, and it would be very easily be able to see exactly what I needed, and what I needed to do to fulfill those requirements.

5) Seems like a bug, I have run out of Shopping List Slots. The far right hand side is full even when Maximized (yes I have an EXTENSIVE shopping list), and when I add the last couple of things to the list (Synthesis items), they do not appear and there is no scroll bar. They MAY be on the list, but I have so many items, its hard to tell if they have added to the requirements or not.

Some excellent suggestions and if i may add to this list:

1. Select what materials are say below 10 (Figure can change as users see fit) and have come up on a Fav or 'short of' list. Reason... If i kill an NPC of come across a USS i have a choice of Mats to pick up, so i have to access each Material to see if i need to collect it or forget it. So having a 'need it list' of all mats below a set figure would be useful.

2. Make the left hand main Material list smaller font, so we can get more on the screen at once

EXCELLENT Excellent app and i don't play without it open.

Hi everyone, thanks a lot for the great suggestions and generous donations! I haven't been able to find the time to update the application in order to integrate all the QoL changes but that should change soon.
Meanwhile it would be very nice if you guys could post suggestions in GitHub's tickets such that is it easier for me to keep track of ideas and all. If somebody already asked for what you want, you can add a reaction to the issue like a thumbs up or a heart.

Regarding the upcoming 2.3 changes, I have published some test binaries (in the edit of this GitHub post) that read the logs from beta (normally the app doesn't). It doesn't require any installation (just unzip and run the executable) and is not going to be kept up to date automatically but it would be great if people who have access to the beta could try it out and let me know how it behaves (it should use the new log entry that produces a dump of the current cargo such that manual changes and initial setup won't be necessary anymore).

Quick question. I let another commander login to my gaming rig the other day at Elitemeet. I now how two sets of materials and data in your program. How do I nuke the other commanders EDEngineer record ?
 
I've been trialling this for a few days now and it's seriously impressive.

I'm still using Inara to track which engineers I have access to, and who they unlock, but this is way better for the actual engineering data.

Which is double sad, as I cant launch it after 2.3 , despite updating

Mine will launch, but i get endless alerts that i have the mats for every blue print in the list which is quite tiresome, so i have closed it down and will await a fix. This is most likely THE MOST useful tool for ED EVER!!
