The EDCD bug report can be found here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/378874-cAPI-asking-user-to-purchase-ED
FD have acknowledged the issue both on the forums and on discord but as you can understand it is incredibly low priority. For a long time a single developer on their team has been responsible for the cAPI and he is far busier dealing with bigger in-game issues. It will be fixed but at this point we could do with all being a little bit more patient and letting them sort it when they get the chance.
I setup my EDMC after 2.4 and I got it working but initially had the same problem, user/pass - invalid cred. How I got it to work is I put in my EDSM api key in FIRST and user/pass SECOND. My Ewas running when setting up EDMC
Yeah, nice. But it still doesn't work![]()
Well it's logging something https://www.edsm.net/en/user/flight-logs/id/29592/cmdr/Aw.=w
It's my first time using it so I may be misunderstanding stuff

HOW PATRONISING.
What FD might regard as low priority is in fact a large issue for us gamers that rely on these 3rd party tools. Especially as player support for the engineers CG virtually collapsed due to the almost impossible task of sourceing commodities without the EDDB and EDMC apps.
It would be wise of FD to accept that they are not in control of what is important to us; Only what is important to them. Understanding the difference can make or break player support for the project as a whole.

Hey Cmdrs,
Just to keep you updated, this has been raised at the highest priority and is in the hands of the devs!
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this and thank you for your understanding regarding this issue.
As and when I hear anything I will keep you all updated!
Thank you o7
Because it doesn't break the game, all it does is inconvenience the customer because none of the tools are required to play the game.Low priority? How on earth can this be low priority? This bug renders pretty much all 3rd party tools useless.
because none of the tools are required to play the game.
I do understand your point BUT:
Try doing engineers and obtaining materials without those tools. Pretty much impossible (for any sane human being that is).
Because it doesn't break the game, all it does is inconvenience the customer because none of the tools are required to play the game.
So from a development perspective it can be low priority.
3rd party tools, to me, indicate a fundamental flaw in the design of the game.3rd Party tools were one of the reason why i finaly choose ED instead of EVE or Star Citizen

I use the tools; I just wish they were all in the game.![]()
Hello CMDRs, I've one of the EDMC and EDDN contributors. The "Companion API" or "cAPI" service is currently broken, so data that usually comes from this and gets submitted to EDDB.io via EDDN such as commodity prices, demand and supply are not being updated.
This is rather annoying, and until this is fixed EDMC, EDSM and EDDI will only be able to update planetary data and faction influence values. No amount of altering your passwords or clearing data will fix this, it is server side.
I have to say though, I agree with FDev in this case that there are other things that need to be fixed first that are game breaking, this bug breaks a very useful out-of-game extra but bugs such as 20 million credit 14ly passenger missions to deliver 10 refugees in my mind are much more urgent to fix as they break big parts of the game for everyone. It's annoying but it is a necessary. I hope it wont be more than another few days.
Fly safe!

I disagree. A lot of users from a lot of games rely in third party stuff, like various calculators, wikis, mods, and other tools and resources. The design of a game might even be intended to encourage the creation of such things, for various reasons. So the fact that they exist might not be a flaw, but in fact be an intended "feature".3rd party tools, to me, indicate a fundamental flaw in the design of the game.
