EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

I just hate those type that no matter what you produce or show on Youtube they just find fault.

they are the sorts that if you made an app that cured famine and made world peace, it would still be wrong in their minds.

But that would be unnatural communism!

No, if you can't afford medical treatments you deserve to die !
Praise Jesus!

[/SARCASM]

I need to stay far away from those people.
I would just end up going Charles Bronson on them eventually.

What's going on there? Lol, didn't notice any ignorance?

Anyway, just released one last update! Another item from my wishlist done. I now have a way to set those extra settings like planet TextureSizes etc. see below:

Note I do plan to add many more settings and really hope you guys will suggest and clarify. I also intend to eventually tie it all to profiles. If you can test, I'd appreciate it. Would like to get all current upgrades to EDP finalized in time for 3.2

I assume that if "Enabled" is un-ticked then it reverts to the default setting when applied?

Ok I just released another update, one of the final ones methinks (the rtf thing will come much later prob), you can now right click on a journal and pop it out to a separate window and work on it separately.

I still have no log recording despite the chat logs browser showing everything I am typing in local, I suppose it's possible I am making some simple mistake, I may be overthinking it. Tried changing the log location, made sure the relevant folder has read/write permissions etc. For some reason it just isn't picking up what I type, tried it both with LOG and without LOG settings. I am trying each new versions, it must be something specific to my PC since it works fine for others. Is anyone else using Win 10?

Hmm, where are your player journals being saved? AFAIK the default location is %WINDIR%\users\%USERNAME%\saved games\frontier developments\elite dangerous

They look something like this: Journal.180820020158.01.log

If they aren't there, can you perhaps help me determine why? Is your setup unusual in any way?

Everyone:
I have the flu - I've tried coding with the flu but it's impossible to think. Will have to postpone for now. At least I can play NMS when sick, it's lovely

Can someone (preferably several people) do me a favour and please go to EDProfiler\Defaults\VR.xml and let me know what it says inside the Name tag? It should be VR Default, but if it's VR then I'd like to know.

Mine says VR Default. Excellent app by the way, loving the dark space.

Thanks so much guys, that's really useful.

Drkaii what does this parameter (milkyway instaces off screen rt enabled) do in extra settings ?

I am not sure. All the settings I know about are in the Help section (click the question mark*)

Ok everyone, tool has been updated:

1. Settings are now connected to profiles. Nothing to do here, it will simply open to the version connected to the currently selected profile. It will stay like that if you hit Apply. It basically just creates a copy of the GraphicsConfigOverride file for each profile, with a little suffix, and renames it as you Apply. Seems to be working nice and smooth for me, but please test and let me know if it's acting strange.
2. You can now change between Low/Medium/High/Ultra by clicking on those words in blue.
3. I've reorganised and added a few more settings and buttons:

EDIT: Just released an update where the tool was producing an error that made it recreate your xml from scratch when it should never do that. It shouldn't do it anymore (if it did, no worries, just hit reset). If it does, please let me know! And hit reset

EDIT2: I've just released another update lol. I'm running out of ideas now, and so is my fun. This time I've added a new right click option in the CMDR Logs tool, when you've got multiple files selected. You can now merge them into one file (as well as delete multiple files at once). Requested feature, and makes sense - some might want to turn an entire expedition into a single log. I decided the easiest way to achieve that is to add a merging after the event. Let me know what you think.

Look you relax, I'm not in a rush, get better.

I have checked and the journals are in the correct location, I will try the latest version and see what happens, will report back, but don't feel any need to rush an answer back, I can wait.

Well I didn't get it to work but I did manage to get it to throw a tantrum on me;

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

So, I was just playing around and this may no help fix my problem, have a rest and will catch up in a few days when you are feeling better.

That's strange! Will look into it now.

In the meantime, at the request of Alec Turner, I've just added an "Expedition Mode" to the log tool. With this on, all logs are made into a single file of your choosing. Needs testing:

I've got rid of the error, but that isn't necessarily going to solve your overall problem. Maybe let's be in touch via email and get it working?
