Discussion EDRefCard v1.4+ - new hosting, new maintainers (the follow-on to "EDRefCard - makes a printable reference card of your controller bindings")

Probably a bit more work than the usual maintenance, but if you're taking ideas, a ratings system would be cool.There's so many binding listings that I don't really know which one to choose. Of course I could try any at random, but it might be nice if people could say 'yes, this one is logical and effective, let's rate that highly'.

And a way to delete his own bindings as well, as errors happen, or tries... As many bindings are posted uselessly (and I did too).

Creating an account could be useful to manage his own bindings but you can ask the commander's name in order to confirm you're the righteous author.

Hi - I have the VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Right stick and I found these binds I want to use

- jjbyqp

It is showing on the website

"Unknown controller detected"

Is this an issue? If so, how best do I resolve it (I have flashed and calibrated my stick)

If you download that binds file and open it with a text editor you will see it has two different devices:
  • 231D0200 which is the VKB Gladiator Nxt Premium Right - this has 52 controls mapped to it
  • 231D0205 which some other unsupported VKB device. Likely a VKB Gladiator Nxt Premium Left with e.g. a VKB SEM or FSM-GA attached - this has 66 controls mapped to it
So you could certainly either just follow the layout shown and remap your controls individually in game to match, or edit your own binds file and copy those 52 mappings for 231D0200 and ignore all those for 231D0205. I'd suggest though that would be an incomplete set of controls as those 66 left hand controls would be unmapped.

You would be better off finding another VKB Gladiator Nxt Premium Right mapping that has all the important controls just on the right stick if that is all you have.

First, I want to say thank you for your work such a useful tool. I just finished recovering from a lost binds panic caused by a dead USB port. Fortunately without having to manually re-bind. Suddenly I feel like it's time to get some reference cards for my setup. But I can't.

Here's my problem: Only one of my sticks is recognized (reference tkymmg). I have a pair of VKB Gladiator NXT Premium (Right + Left with Omni throttle). Only the left stick is recognized.

Here are the device IDs from my binds file
Right 231D1200
Left 231D0201

I see my right stick has a different ID than what Stellarator reported a couple days ago (231D0200) in post 148 . Maybe there's a been a revision of the stick's control board?

I suppose I could edit the ID in a copy of the binds file, just for uploading. That should get me through.

I love how VKB firmwares change the USB IDs.

The left ID you quote is in EDRC as not having the OTA attached - just a normal stick. We know the left+OTA by ID 231D3201.

Can you double check things - this feels like it might conflict.

Yes, editing a copy of the binds file and faking the ID works - I have to do the same with my X56 that I route through vJoy.

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU for this amazingly useful tool!

I just upgraded from a 4-year old Thrustmaster T-1600M joystick that had started to develop the dreaded 'yaw to the left' syndrome with a VKB Gladiator NXT Premium -- which is definitely a nice hardware upgrade -- but also a painfully tedious and time-consuming process remapping and testing dozens of confusingly-labeled Elite Dangerous bindings!

The ability to map and print out my old custom Thustmaster bindings so I can easily compare with the new setup made the process way less stressful than it would have been otherwise.

Note to Frontier Dev: This is a tool that should be built into Elite!

Side note: Anyone know how to get the Gladiator A1 POV mini stick toggle to work as a headlook toggle within Elite?

Thanks again! o7

From the top of my head (not at my PC right now): Define its two analogue axes as the two headlook axes. Leave headlook on all the time in-game. Now, when the mini stick is in digital mode, you can use the mini stick for all kinds of stuff as the game doesn't see its axes. If you toggle to analogue mode, it'll work as a headlook input.

Edit: can confirm. I left "Headlook" in "Mode Switches" blank, and the rest under "Headlook Mode" is set up like this:
Headlook Default State = on
Headlook Button Increments = continuous
Headlook Axis Mode = direct
Centre When Headlook Inactive = yes
Headlook Smoothing = on
Look Up and Down Axis = RY-Axis
Look Left and Right Axis = RX-Axis

Now you can use the Gladiator's built-in default to toggle between analogue (= Headlook) and digital (= whatever you like) mode for the A1 stick.

Sorry for the delay, I thought I had replied to this already. I can double-check for you, but I'm not confident I understand what you need. You need me to confirm the device ID for my sticks?

Yes please as the Id in your last post has been used by another device. It's a little odd.

Worth double checking your binds file too for the Id.

Just discovered your site and it's pretty awesome. Thanks!

I am having an issue with it recognizing one of my Virpil WarBRD with Alpha handles, shows "Unknown Controller Detected" for my Left stick. Config reference jzlgho.

OK Here's my primary fire, that's the trigger on my right stick:
<PrimaryFire>
<Primary Device="Mouse" Key="Mouse_1" />
<Secondary Device="231D1200" Key="Joy_1" />

Secondary fire, trigger on my left stick:
<SecondaryFire>
<Primary Device="Mouse" Key="Mouse_2" />
<Secondary Device="231D0201" Key="Joy_1" />

The other ID you mentioned above "We know the left+OTA by ID 231D3201" doesn't match either of these. Is there another I'm not aware of? Or maybe the IDs work and conflict in a way I don't understand? I don't know anything about the device ID system or why they're formatted the way they are. Anyhow, I hope that's helpful.

Im trying to use a ED / CH bindings file at the Edrefcard.info site. Conzep 4.1

I use the link seen here. It takes me to a long list that should be a downloadable XML file. But it isnt. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
