Indeed but to make one would only cost about 10 pence per badge. And you can cast your own Elite Dangerous commander name into it as well rather than being generic.

There are only two types its just our collectively poor photography
The two types stem from the two publishers of Elite, Acornsoft and Firebird.
Acornsoft badges are the silver colour on the black square and the Firebird badges are a gold colour.
There is also a mystery third badge type but it wasn't awarded for gameplay.
I certainly don't recall there being a one-per-month limit, I'm sure I'd have been worried about getting one if that had been the case (as it was I was only worried about it getting lost in the post or something).
I do seem to recall that there was an extra prize each month, though, for the applicant with the most credits.
The 'extra' prize was a framed award that went along with the badge, I posted a link to mine way back on page 10 of this thread.
If a distant day, I manage to get Elite status, I hope to receive an Elite badge in solid gold, inlaid with diamonds

That is the most impressive thing I have ever seen... For a good ten years after Elite was released (when the memory was still strong and neurons still made new connections) I would have turned green and melted if anyone had shown me that.Still feeling a bit melty now.
Sadly I somehow never made it to Elite first time around, despite seemingly playing it constantly for years. That's why I'm so eager to do it this time.Not sure the new badges have the same status (saying dangerous, after all, is not the same thing as saying 'Elite'!), and the word obscures the clean lines of the classic shield.

Yeah not looking like the best of buddies in that one... and it only got worse.
Old photos are weird like that moments captured in time and even when the subject of the photo looks at it again they wonder exactly what they where thinking when the shutter went click.
Thankfully we know one of those guys stayed in the game development business and also kept buying jumpers!

How are you getting on with the beta?
I have only had a few hours and in the tradition of Elite I have been strugling with the basics but I am just about starting to get to grips with travelling and docking. At one point I was down to 100 Credits and pretty much broke but I picked up an easy delivery job and I now have 410 credits... I am on my way to the big time.
Elite is back baby!!!
I also picked up a new badge...

Not really done anything with it since alpha 1. Not been playing any other games either. Might be a summer thing; probably get in to it again once GMT starts. My son, he's got his own beta access, has been enjoying it though.
