So, I just upgraded and ran ED to look at my (old) exploration stats:

Shows Level 2 scans but no Level 3 detailed scans?

Pretty sure I did a lot of detailed scans in my previous jaunts :)

That's the feeling I get (if not the exact figures). There must be something more to level 3 scans than having just a DSS present, if a DSS was active and working for all the other scans performed. If it is a "penetrative" scan then how come there isn't a second scan performed or an acknowledgement of such a scan at the time of scanning?

Unless level 3 scans are for special objects only?

I assume that this is to try to prevent afk farming of combat bonds by parking on/next to a friendly cap ship and letting them do all the work while you plink away with turrets...

However, as it only affects ships that have not declared an allegiance to one faction or another, there's nothing to stop people simply allying themselves to the cap ship on arrival (as I assume they would have done anyway) and then parking up as normal, I can't see that it's going to make any difference at all.

Am I missing something?

Ahh, I hadn't considered the "Treat capital ships like players for assigning kills" part...

I was missing something!

Nicely done, FD :D

Level 2 and 3 scans? How do we accomplish this, when we cannot buy a level 2 or 3 discovery or surface scanner

Michael's response to this is on the second page, though there appears to be debate as to whether they have been applied the correct way around or not.

Well, the notes say available on the store soon, so logically, this means you'll have to buy them like the other available liveries.

Well, the notes dont say it clearly, u can read it as that all Paint jobs are added ingame for ships except the Anaconda which will be in store soon ;)

I looked and there isn't any new ones, and I thought these ones were free for all ships (accept anaconda)

They never said they were free.
Some people assumed that they are by misreading the post.

Whether they are free or not is yet to be seen as they havent been added yet

Michael no offense, but this is stupid.....small fines are small fines...how are we supposed to pay them, and how are large ships supposed to pay in outposts?

You can pay off your bounties everywhere. If you are wanted in the Federation - dock at an independent station (some can even be found inside Fed systems), or one belonging to the Alliance or Empire. Fines that need to be paid on a station owned the faction, on the other hand, do not affect you until they expire and are turned into bounties.

How about docking your large ship at a station owned by a faction that doesn't want to kill you but the faction that does want to kill you has a presence elsewhere in the system? Clever, eh?

Not stupid at all. They already introduced the "friendly fire" rule since people were complaining they couldn't avoid hitting friendly targets. Now, you just get bounties if you cause more than some specific amount of damage to a friendly ships shields.

If you are still unable to prevent bounties from hitting friendly targets, you should consider improving your aiming skills or swallow the bitter pill and search for another station to pay off your bounty instead of requesting from the devs to make the friendly fire rules and everything that is connected to it even more forgiving.

Not even needed. Paying off bounties works globally. It is only fines for which you need to visit a place with the faction that issued it.

They do indeed.

Only if you don't pay them within 24 hours, as then they turn into bounties.

If you're wanted in a Type 9, dock somewhere else and pay the bounty through pilot's federation? How do you have a Type 9 and do not know this is possible? How did you get wanted in a Type 9 in the first place, were you bounty hunting?

Turning off the whole alternate mission path would instantly fix it and take a few minutes. 1.3 is almost two months away, that's a pretty damn long time to leave something as crucial as Assassination missions completely broken.

Quineloe, Its a matter of principle, you just asked a silly question....If he wants to bounty hunt in a t9 thats his thing.

1 shot turning you instantly red is not exactly forgiving

You will only be wanted with that particular faction. Use your system map to find a starport or outpost where you are not wanted. Dock there and pay the fine.

And it isn't stupid, it's Elite: Dangeous (the clue being in the last word)

Holy Hot Hauler, Batman, that was a quick patch. I hit "upgrade" then WHOOSH.... Play button.
Now to log in and, um, look at my scanning stats!

I'm not even convinced that FD are sure what the difference between level 1, 2 & 3 are.

Given my gut feeling of what I have scanned I think they transposed the numbers. But I have just done some scans and the numbers didn't update - however the scans I just did were a star and a gas giant. I need to find a solid plant and see if that works but I feel the outcome will be the same.

There could of course be a delay in updating the data. There is already a delay in updating rep and rank when selling exploration data; you either have to relog or jump systems for them to update.

When will we have access to the paint jobs? Obviously the comments in the thread about them being free are ridiculously false (No paint jobs available for my Python in game.)

I'm eagerly awaiting for the opportunity to throw my money at a python paint job that isn't piratey.
