Wow, this game community is so desperate for any kind of communication from the devs It gets excited about the most patronising non news. Same old.

This is nothing more than hype building for PS4 launch. No substance.

I have been into computer gaming since the C64 and on the internet since the beginning.
I have never seen such a community of whining self-indulgent <oopsies> in all of my life.
FD could be laying golden eggs, giving them to orphans, and resurrecting the dead and I would bet anything the level of whinging would not change. Because it's not about them and their desires aren't the center of the universe. This forum gives a voice to those who have none in real life so they spout here - repeatedly - essentially crying "Pay attention to me!" and "Give me what I want now!" and heaven help you if you don't agree and share their special insight into game design. I'd pay $100 a season to separate the wheat from the chaff here.

Thanks for saying SOMETHING, how ever this is so vague as to be nothing of significance. When you're responding to criticism please add in some real value, and don't placate (super boringly) and patronise your player base. Dudes listen and grow up a bit please? It's not that DDF anymore, you got rid of them, we are real uninvested people, don't be scared, and tell us honesty what's going on. You're a small developer and you have to communicate better or else.

So the release date of patch 2.3.1 and announcement of news at E3 and a special event, probably in Birmingham at around about the same time as EGX and that 2.4 is likely to involve a massive on going storyline over several months aren't significant?

To he honest, 2.4 was going to be a surprise, and that's what I thought it would be. Not a fix or qol thing.

Important, sure, but you don't use a full update for that, that was announced as a surprise.

Thanks, Frontier - keep up the good work, and I look forward to the future of this game that I can't stop playing, even after close to 1000 hours. My HOTAS doesn't often leave it's position on the desk, which makes typing this a pain, but worth it.

On a different note:

I think it's sad that someone is strutting around, acting like they won some grand battle. As if Frontier wasn't already aware that what they have built needs fleshing out (after delivering the expected content for Horizons, which was the priority), and also as if they weren't already planning to do it. I also think it would be absolutely grand if Mengy came in here, and asked you not to name-drop him any more.

He won't though, because he has class.

Season 2 has always been a self contained package of updates starting with Horizons 2.0 and going up to and including 2.4. Although Frontier has stated recently that they are abandoning the "season" model after the current season is completed, whatever is next in line has always been considered a separate package that everyone will need to purchase at release of 3.0.

So.. .You are good to go for the next point update. After that you can choose to stay there, or move on to the next update packages that will be considered a new product that must be purchased.

Lets call them the more VOCAL Critics of the current state of the game. Players like myself and Mengy for example. They/we totally helped to make this happen. Have you not been paying attention to the forums over the last 5 months? When the community's discontent is at a high enough volume that it gets mentioned in patch notes, you know it is high enough to be taken seriously by FD.

And what was the overriding theme of that discontent? FIX the core game before moving on to more elaborate features. Sounds like Frontier is planning to do precisely that.

As for your analogy... Better luck next time dude. This one was an epic fail. Not even remotely close to an analog of this situation.

Vocal or constructive? I saw a lot of very vocal critics who offered absolutely nothing constructive. Mengy, however, gave some very constructive criticism of the Exploration Mechanics....so too with people like Obsidian Ant, Vindicator Jones & Cosmicspacehead. It is people like them who deserve praise, not the whiners who were vocal without being helpful .

I can, however, tell you that this update will be slightly different to previous ones - content will be revealed over time rather than all being available on day one. Additional pieces of exciting content will surface over the coming months as the narrative progresses.

So they mean this will be a story fed drip of Alien Encounters to satisfy a select group of folk that somehow find where these happen to be amongst 400billion Systems with an unthinkable amount of Planets within each of them. Jesus!
