Elite Dangerous: Beyond - Chapter One Beta FAQ

Has anyone figured out how to launch the beta in SteamVR? I can launch it on my regular screen, but when I launch ED from SteamVR, it bypasses the launcher that allows selecting the beta.

Got it to work, but not really sure how -- brought up the released version in VR mode, then exited to desktop, but kept the launcher running. Relaunched beta, and it came up in VR mode. So there's that.

I wonder if this FAQ should be duplicated in the Beyond Beta feedback section as I've seen quite a few questions in that section that have been answered in this FAQ.
 
Now with all these engineering and grandfathered items.. can we get at least 200 module storage... we will be keeping more and more modules now since items are ranked up individually. 200 may even not be enough

Amen to that. At least 100 would be very, very helpful
 
Question regarding Pinned Blueprints.

In the current Beta you can pin a G4 OC powerplant blueprint. Then fly over to a remote outfitter , buy a new power plant ready to upgrade and you can do nothing with the G4 OC blueprint. This making pinning of blueprints for remote use worthless. Unless your pinned blueprint allows for you to roll from the lower grades up to your pinned blueprint ( in this case a G4) you get zero help from remote outfitting as only G1 upgrades are even possible.

If I am missing something fine, but based on my testing the pinned blueprints are really not working how I believe they should.

You need the blueprint to allow you a path up to the blueprint grade you have pinned,remotely, assuming you have the mats, or it is basically worthless.
 
maybe its changed for this beta but isn't the cost of ships and outfitting meant to be 10%?
i just logged in and i didn't do the fast start cause i already had 100mill from when the save was carried over and i had a ship but everything is at full cost, is that normal?

There is no normal in beta :). In this beta, prices are at their regular level, with the possible exception of the Chieftain. That price is still open to change by FD.
100 MCr. should be enough to buy and A-rate a Chieftain (if you don't insist on that 4A Interdictor...)
 
However the end of the beta does not mean the immediate release of the official version

Copy that, and while it is not a bug so to speak, i hope they'll increase by alot the amount of mats, or do some other move making it not easy but less of a pain.

Does the beta download act like a kind of preload of the final version of 3.0?

In other words will the files be lighter on release if I download beta now?

Perhaps. That will depend on how many betas there will be, how different they will be from each other and how different the last beta will be from the first :p release.
Essentially, you usually won't have to download a specific file twice if is unchanged. But nobody knows yet which files will remain unchanged until the release.
 
Any chance the chieftain can get two more utility mounts?

See, if its going to be a combat ship for thargoids and thargoid attack ships then it really needs two more slots to house the xeno-scanner and anti-shutdown neutralizer and the other 4 utility mounts for shield boosters and point defense and heat-sinks.
 
I'm not really a combat pilot, but I'm really enjoying the mew mats trader. The whole engineering process is IMHO, a much more agreeable pastime.
Planets are super nice too.
