Elite: Dangerous Display Switcher

What does IPD (in mm) mean? I'm a little confused as to what this function does.
It's the distance between the centers of your eyes, so the game can optimize the stereoscopic divergence for each user and make the game look as close to what it would actually look like if you were there as possible.

Hey, that's a nice useful tool! I have a habit of swapping to/from fullscreen/borderless when in/out of combat zones as I feel it's a teeny bit more fluid in fullscreen - this is going to be very handy :D

e: actually on further reading it might not be exactly what I needed as you need to restart the game for changes to take place. I'm sure it's very useful for a good few users though.

I've been trying to get this to run for the past few hours to no avail. Every time I try to save setting I keep getting

An error occurred:

System.unauthorisedAccessExemption
blaaa blaaa blaaa

It's driving me crazy. I've tried running in admin mode but no go.

Please help..

It's only for Oculus Rift users. I think the OR Configuration utility overrides this setting, so it probably doesn't matter what you set it to. But since it is included in the ED settings, I've included it in EDDS as well.

Excellent, Simply and very handy for the GUI option alone. +Rep and my thanks to you. People like you that use their time to better all our experiences with PC gaming are simply priceless. Thank you again.

Looks like a very useful app but it unfortunately cannot find the 2 xml files. Ive moved my installation to another drive, which I would hope should not make a difference, although clearly it does. EDDS.exe and the accompanying xml file are located in the same directory as the other xml files. Anyway, it seems like you may not be maintaining this much anymore. If thats the case, would you release the source so someone else could maintain it?

Thanks,

I'm glad you like it. Thanks for the rep and kind words.

Thanks,

The EDDS.exe and EDDS.xml files should be located in your main installation folder (EDLaunch unless you've renamed it).

The source code is kind of a mess, since this started out as as small tool for my own use, and then escalated to what it is now. I would frankly be embarassed to release it :). I'll try to maintain it if any critical bugs show up.

Oh... my... god... why didn't I see this when I first set myself up?

I so wanted Elite to open on the monitor opposite of my task bar. This fixes my issue!

Have some rep my good man!

Hi I've been using your tool for the last few days to swap between the Rift and monitor use and the swapping of everything except the GUI colours is working fine.

I use the graphics override file for my HUD colours but even though I have saved both the Rift and Monitor with different HUD colours - these do not swap when I apply the changes, doesn't matter if I apply just the GUI changes or all the changes the graphics override file is not changed. I know you said in an earlier post that it does work but I haven't seen it - I'm swapping between a green scheme for the rift and a purple scheme for my monitor and the graphics override file is not changing as expected.

Hi,

The problem is the graphics override file. I have not updated EDDS to use that, as it works fine without. But as long as you use it it will override any changes EDDS makes. The solution is to delete (or rename if you wan't to keep it) GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml so that ED doesn't use it. ED will just recreate an empty GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml, so no harm done.

On a side note, I should probably get around to make EDDS use GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml instead, so we don't run into these sort of problems :)

Thanks for confirming what it's doing.

I don't need the app but I would like to add to others, that this is great and should be applauded . Well done OP its people like you that make the internet what it used to be and what it should be.

hi, fantastic little app btw. Even though I de-select Vertical Sync when using the rift and apply everything correctly it does not seem to disable the option in the actual game, is this a know issue or am i missing something? lol

Sorry for the late reply, I have not been checking in on the forum lately. I haven't heard of this issue before, but will look into it.

Edit: It works like it should here. VSync is in the DisplaySettings.xml file, and changes according to what I select in EDDS. Are you using GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml? If you have VSync set to true there, it will override any changes EDDS makes. You will have to delete it (either the VSync setting or the entire GraphicsConfigurationOverride file unless you need it) to prevent this. If I get around to updating EDDS, I will make it edit GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml directly so it won't be an issue any longer.
