Considering it is the platform holders and not the games themselves in 99% of the cases that are the issue, you have to get microsoft to agree on how it will work with pc, to have cross platform there, now you also have to get sony to agree with them on how it should be done and so on?

While I can understand why people are crying out for cross platform as a PS4 player who will be buying Elite and playing purely on the dualshock I'd prefer a smoother introduction. While it might be nice to have a fuller universe if I was to play on open surely I'd just keep getting ganked by experienced PC pilots. That puts me off a lot.

As a PS4 player looking forward to Elite. I can understand why people would want cross platform play. Although as someone who will be totally new to Elite when it comes to PS4 and be playing on dualshock it's probably better to be just PS4 players for me. I can imagine PS4 players would be getting ganked left ,right and centre by experienced PC players in open if it was cross platform.

Welcome to the game and I hope you decide to buy the PC version - I've been playing it for 2 years now and still going (which is more than I can say for any other game in about the last 20 years).
I should warn you though that as it stands today, you won't be able to transfer any progress you make on PC to PS4 later as the commandrers are not interchangeable.
The skill and gameplay experience you get on the other hand will of course transfer over

This is exciting news. I have been dabbling on the Xbone and bought the season pass to support the game. Now my main problem of my online gaming console being the PS4 is resolved!
Yeah I agree. Some people just hate consoles (for no apparent reason) and their users.
If these people will be given the smallest chance they'll take it, and gank the crap out of these poor beginners.
I was a decent War Thunder player on PC. I switched to PS4 and hit the top of the Team scoreboards at the end of each match in cross-platform play, just to prove a point.
Game supports KB/Mouse on PS4 natively - it plays exactly the same as on PC.If ED implement the same KB/M support for their PS4 version I see a lot of CMDRs feeling right at home and not being at all worried about cross-platform. Also, DB and others have said that the implementation of the PS4 DS Controller with touchpad has let them play the game well.

If you play in a private group you wouldn't have to worry about anybody "ganking" you.
I'm the same way. And if the PS4 version launches with PS VR support it might actually interest me in picking up VR.

Absolutely made up that Elite Dangerous is coming to PS4... I had an xbox one last year before I migrated across the console divide and Elite was one of the games (I hate calling it a game ...its defo a sim) I miss . Goodbye summer ... and hello space !

Simple solution to that is to have two Open modes: One for just your platform, one for cross-platform.
(And of course there would still be Solo and Private.)
Agreed, but we will anyway by all the crossover players buying it on again PS. I don't mind I just don't want an empty verse. I also want to join some peeps and wing up, I'm new to elite.
