Elite Dangerous: Horizons Only PC & Console Update 09/12/2021 Notes

Don’t you told that the new SRV Scorpion come to Horizon too? I don’t see it in the notes…
It wouldn't surprise me if FD, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that us console riff-raff and pc Horizons only plebs don't have a use for a new SRV. Why would "we" want something new to play with, after all, we can still watch the Odyssey elites' content on YouTube and Twitch. Lol. (This is not a criticism of the CM team, love you guys. And if Horizons does get the Scorpion, I apologise.) o7

I believe the main purpose of the Scorpion was to be used in ground combat zones with the missile rack added to it to take ships out. If it would have been added to Horizons, would be an overpowered thing actually with the missile rack.

Hi Sally :)

Quote....

Module Management.
A fix has been implemented for pre-engineered modules from community goals not being marked informatively, as such.
  • Pre-engineered module rewards will now have their description display the fact that they are pre-engineered, as well as have it display in the outfitting screen.
  • Also trying to apply modifications to pre-engineered modules which specifically cannot be modified further (very niche circumstances) will now be disallowed with a message stating why.
Unquote...

Ah!...this is good, I was starting to get a bit confused with some of the pre-engineered stuff I'd collected from CG reward's etc.

Side note....No mention of this in the update notes that I can see but is there any plans for being able to list modules (in module storage) in a more player understandable format in game?
Example....module number and type, so a player can edit the module storage menu to player preferences?
At the moment modules seem to be listed in a haphazard manner in the storage menu in Horizons.

Jack :)

More like making the Scorpion also work with old lighting/shaders and whatnot would not made much sense for na anti-infantry/GCZ vehicle, sounds like a waste of dev time to me.

Now let's hope the cargo bug to the Scarab makes it to Horizons. That would be the more painful one for me.

An Elephant in the room indicates something that is looming large, but is not being addressed. Once again, the team are addressing this issue. The fact that it is not what most people want to hear, is irrelevant.
This is your personal opinion. Many a console player may disagree as seen in many threads ago.
But for the sake of this thread, I won't re-engage in this issue again and leave this area of action to others.

I wish we in edh would have gotten our beach buggy with red/yellow top. Bud Spencer would approve....

Im sure this has been a silent update since im very new to the game, both vr and desktop mode and i can interact with the panels in headlook mode, are you using a mouse and keyboard or a hotas/hosas control sys.

As of 1 min before this update (got a warning message saying so), it hadn't been fixed for me. The issue is that the Comms panel will open when you look at it but your bindings for next/prev will not work. You can't interact with the panel that way. To work around it, you have to open the Comms panel with the keyboard binding (ie: pressing number 2), then previous and next bindings will work and you can switch tabs.

This issue existed in Odyssey, and it moved to Horizons as part of the QoL fixes in Update 7.x. I believe it was partially fixed in Odyssey but it's there now in a slightly different form: the Comms chat will be cleared when you look at it so you can't read it. That leaves only "show" as the option to select when you look at it.

While this is an annoyance for some, it is pretty terrible for us VR users. Here's hoping it has been fixed with Update 9.

Garbage. How on earth can this not have been added to Horizons?

Then instead of adding baubles to Odyssey you should be concentrating on making it playable first so that people who have paid for it can use it.
It wouldnt be much use in Horizons anyway as it seems to have no vertical thruster pods. So youd get a bumpy and short ride anywhere you need it on Horizons. Clearly designed for the nice flat area around Oddy Installations only.

No, it's not my opinion. It is a fact.

What you could do is take heart from the fact that this update, while containing an bunch of performance and optimisation fixes in it, also contains a lot of smaller fixes and QoL fixes. I would suggest it has more than the previous updates, which I personally think bodes well for where the team think they are.

So fire groups are clean,
and...
now FPS drops at the station in EDH too

Just installed update as indicated on the startup screen. 09/12/2021 I have no intention to buy Odyssey I'm happy with Horizons only. Now the Elite Dangerous Horizons game is totaly unplayable, can't change or buy any weapons as the game crashes as soon as I select a weapons bay that I want to sell/change or buy a weapon for that bay.

Frontier updates nearly always screw up the game in some way or another...Validated files, I have a fast PC with 32Gb of 3200Mhz Ram, and Samsung 1Tb 970 EVO Pllus m.2 Drives (2), and Amd Ryzen 5 3600X on the Asus Rog Strix X570-F M/B and 750W PSU so it can't be my PC...

Hold on a minute...

Do mine eyes deceive me? Are we really getting the multi-limpet controller on console?

This makes me happier than it probably should. Limpet involved gameplay has been awkward at best for years in Elite. I truly wasn't expecting this to be included in Horizons.

Thank you.

Greetings Commanders.

I'm just going to pull a few important and existing issues aware of out of the air here:
  • Continued experiences of stability issues on console, particularly PS5 but also on Xbox.
We truly do hope some of these targeted fixes in today's update on some of the issues listed will be a help.

Keeping watch. Have a great day please.

Comprehensive updates for both patches, too awesome for words, glad to read that the stability on PS5 referenced so I'll continue to add CTDs to the open thread... :)
