Release Elite Dangerous HUD Mod (EDHM)

Just downloaded the ED UI and configured it correctly
First of all, I don't have Horizons installed so I had to manually create a directory under Products and create a fake executable file myself otherwise EDHM_UI would not work at all.
Then I tried to edit a theme for Odyssey but noticed that whenever I clicked on any of the HUD element to customize, nothing would happen (the panel on the right side of the screen containing the properties of the chosen HUD element to change would not appear at all).
Then when I clicked on the Ship/Station panel element I would get an object reference not set error.
Then when I clicked on any of the proposed themes on the list I would get a "this theme is not for Odyssey" error and I realized I would have to manually force an update for the mod
Then I updated the mod and chose a random theme, and EDHM_UI would keep the default one as the "current theme" while showing me a popup telling the theme swap was a success
Then I started up the game and realized the random theme chosen before got actually applied
Then I tried to swap to another theme while in the game menu and press F11 to update, and nothing would happen
Then I closed the game and tried to do another theme swap after closing and reopening EDHM_UI first and then ED, but the theme chosen before got stuck and there was no way to change it
Then I realized I should join some Discord server to get support, but I refused to agree to their TOS

This confused me.

In EDHM Main Menu|Settings you should see the paths the mod believes your games files are located in. If these aren't correct the mod wont work. There is a green button on that tab to auto locate them, otherwise use the button on the left to point at your actual Elite Dangerous\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64 folder

You also have to specify the elite-dangerous-64 folder for Horizons. Odyssey and Horizons are 2 different game builds which are maintained separately by Frontier. I've just got rid of Horizons cause I don't play it anymore (I only play Odyssey).

I keep getting this popup every time I start the app. I hit Update, it seems to download and install, then it closes the app, but when I restart it, the patcher shows up again and again, and the mod version is still v13.1.

EDIT: never mind, did a clean install, got latest version.

I'd like to be able to remove the centre dot when on foot, is that possible?

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble turning off the mouse dot while on a planet .. concourse / carrier is fine, but on a planet the dot/weapon reticle can take 1 of 32 different positions within the shader. That means I can't target every individual dot but would have to turn it all off as a block.

The problem is that the shader also draws the 'Cargo Loader' nameplate in the same position (used in 'defend the cargo' missions) so that nameplate would get turned off as well

However, I don't think CMDRs would turn off their targeting reticle in combat anyway.

What specific situations did you want the dot off? Is it for exploring, or just concourse/carrier?

Is there a way to change the background drawing color of the header in the FC main menu?

Both themes are based on Cornflower Blue. I checked the XML files and the color matrix settings are exactly the same, so I don´t know why it shows red in Horizons.

Also, why are some of the drawings not showing in EDO buttons? Any setting I should check?

I've been trying to replicate my settings from EDH into EDO but so far no luck, can't get it to look quite the same.☹️

Please help. 🙏

I just find it annoying being centre of vision 100% of the time when on foot. But it sounds like it's going to cause more trouble than it's worth being linked to other elements.

Yeah it might introduce new bugs for other foot HUD elements I haven't seen yet. However, I'll put it on my list of ideas for the next major update. There might be a way to conditionally turn the dot/reticle back on when a weapon is drawn

Hi Ace, there's a difference because the panels are modded with different shaders in Horizons vs Ody. In Horizons, a big 'sheet' of XML cellophane is laid over the entire panel, which is why the portraits get messed up. In the Ody mod, the panels are targeted specifically to exclude the portraits shader, but in that excluded shader is the carrier header artwork

I'm not sure why your other panel artwork is missing though. In the UI, do a search for 'Panel Drawings' or 'Panel Artwork' (I'm not sure what it's called in the UI), and there should be an option to change their colour. But let me know if they still don't show up

Also, as you see in your pics, the different shaders and game modes have different colour response curves. It looks like the Ody one has more green, and the Horizons has more red. If you slightly reduce the green and slightly increase the red on the top line of your XML matrix in Ody then you might be able to get a closer colour match (but take a screenshot of your XML values before you play with them in case you want to revert the changes)

Hmm I don't know what's going on there. The best way for me to troubleshoot the issue is if you send me these 4 files from your EDHM ini folder:

You can zip them up and send to me via discord if you like (psychicEgg#9971)

Also, can you please double-check you're running the latest version of the mod (v13.21)? It should say at the bottom of the UI, or at the top of the file d3dx.ini (in the "elite-dangerous-odyssey-64" folder)

I'm sure we'll be able to sort it out
