Elite Dangerous: In Case You Missed It | Update 14 Release Date and More!

Oh I'd never go materials prospecting in Oddy - In fact I spent over 20 min in Odyssey this afternoon after making that video just to film a comparison - couldn't find a single fumarole or geyser - not one - complete nightmare so gave up.
Exactly! That's what I'm talking about - we shouldn't have to keep going into Horizons to do it as it should be fixed so it works the same in Odyssey.

I can usually find the geysers, lava spouts and fumaroles etc in Odyssey - it's just getting them all to work as they should that's the problem for me.

There are other planets that have better concentrations, I'm curently only a planet (Odyssey) that is almost consistently turning up crystalline structures and piceous cobble, which happen also to be dropping arsenic at a (relatively) decent rate.

So... anyone else waiting for the news report of the meeting with UE1?

It will start: Well, Taranis saw us... and now we are extinct! 🤪

My shock theory is that the Thargoids are just incredibly well organised and are doing their Christmas deliveries early so they can settle down to watch the football World Cup undisturbed.

:)

  • An all new Thargoid Interceptor with unique characteristics.

Yawn, we've seen more than enough of their ships. Lots of people want Thargoids on-foot at settlements. Let players invade Thargoid bases, sneak around to avoid a Thargoid boss. Also a dockable Thargoid mothership to retrieve stuff. Give players a choice to interact peacefully or hostile.

Reveal what the Thargoids look like in-person. Such as this fanart:

Got to admit I’m actually not working right now until Monday but if you can wait til then when I’m more in work mode, I can get back in here with a full brain o7
Sure, I can wait. I'll just take a break and stay in orbit until we know, even at the longest possible, it'll be clear in only a week anyway :)

YaY!
Are you going to hopefully remove the stupid, stupid, stupid 4 AX weapon limit??
That single-handedly ruins AX combat!
I have secret info.

for 99% of builds it would change...nothing.

4 hardpoints with AX weapons, #5 with flak, usually #6 with thermal beam, and that's all. Main benefits could go to ships with at least 7 hardpoints. And even here it isn't as funny as you think (let's ignore idea of 9 AX turrets, engineered standard multies aren't much worse ;) ). Think about distro and power draw. My AX ship can handle all modules and onl 4 weapons after disabling non important modules. What I could to do without limit, take #5 weapon, and turn off life support? :D

I don't mind the point and click aspect of it, it keeps the activity pretty chill on the whole so I would want to keep that. However, I would be all for additional layers of complexity in relation to what happens after that or as another option. To use your example, you can still laser mine a core asteroid. I also think onfoot mat mining would be awesome as I have mentioned elsewhere..
point and click= you need 3 samples
something more difficult, like "core mining at molecular level"= you need 2 (partially succes) or 1 (full succes) sample :)

It could be good way, for both types of people.

I just use a hand gun, that works for me.
Further to previous Rat Catcher - I'm 7,600 LY from Sol right now and on my way back to bubble, not very near any stations. Do you or anyone else here know if the ammo for handheld weapons can be synthesised as they can for ship weapons, if I run out whilst prospecting? Cheers!

As soon as you board the ship, or SRV, suit ammo is replenished automatically.

No, that's in Horizons anyway where a lot of people have said the prospecting works properly when it does not in Odyssey. In fact, many CMDRs don't bother with prospecting in Odyssey but just go into Horizons to do it.

Not all the prospecting in Odyssey is bad though in my experience - crystalline clusters and piceous cobble for example are usually ok but I find the fumaroles are mostly a waste of time and bullets whenever a target pops up for one.

They go to Horizons because it still has the old style POI's, not because you can't shoot fragments off fumaroles, last time I tried it worked fine, but maybe it's a new issue, I will test next time I am near some.

Ah ok thanks. So far I've only used those weapons in the on-foot CZs when I've been given a lift to the area in a Vulcan and not had my ship or SRV with me. T

I've not had much luck with the fumaroles in Odyssey from the SRV (occasionally something will drop,) but I think the answer is to put on the Dominator suit and use the handheld weapons as Rat Catcher said.
