Is it the one with day z on the front? That's the latest PC gamer UK on the iPad store. It has a one month free trial so I think I'll pick up the relevant issue![]()
PCGAMER UK runs a 'Played it' article this month on ED by Andy Kelly.
Andy has been playing the alpha and the article is full of praise about ED. Half of the two-page article is devoted to how well ED plays with Oculus Rift, '..feels handcrafted for the headset.'
Quote: After having a go Chris said, 'Well, I never want to play anything else ever again.'
And PCGAMER now correctly says that ED will be out 'in 2014.'![]()
Its too bad that crappy Eve game is THE Oculus ship game![]()
It's a bit annoying that they rave about a device that consumers won't be able to get for almost 2 years. Why not base comments on tech readily available today? ED doesn't need OR to be cool, does it?
TrackIR has been around for a decade now, AND you wont get motion sickness + you can see your keyboard/drink - so IDK why OR is getting so much hype since TrackIR seems more practical.
Paper magazine?
What is that?

Because it's a better experience. If you just want the game play advantages, get trackir. If you want a whole other experience, to actually feel like you're in the game world and be awed by your surroundings, then get the Rift.

I'm in no doubt that ED with OR is a great experience. OR is on my must-buy list when it's released.
But .... it's not available to consumers. Only today, we received confirmation from the horse's mouth that it's still At Least 18 months away.
Where is that news, I haven't seen it?
03:25: "I am told, I spoke with one of the founders of OculusVR, Palmer Lucky and he said 18-20months we hope to actually get it into consumers hands and more people will have the amazing experiences I just had"
They have smartphones and tablets in shops nowadays? Those things you leaf through in shops and waiting rooms.
So back to no concrete timeline at allThere's a comment below that:
Just a FYI for anyone freaking out -- the estimated date range quoted in this story is INCORRECT. Palmer confirmed himself on reddit a few minutes ago that this is not a correct timeline for when to expect the consumer version, and is a misunderstanding.
...because even with an X52, there aren't enough buttons for all of the functions (I can't touch-type).
