Most games get dull after a few years, I only ever managed 45 minutes of EVE.
but then they don`t intend to make profit over 10 years do they?

No, there's just the same few noisy people causing problems. Bit of a difference.
A few? A FEW, You mean the same people thats been arguing this for 4-5 years? And then the people that come and go and screw it? You mean those few. I understand.
As a percentage of the player base, yes. A few.
Exactly the same 6-7 people arguing against it for 4-5 years. You're right.
Yeah but why would anyone choose open to accomplish a goal or objective? They dont. As a matter of fact, read this,

And then watch this, https://youtu.be/0545WHDzT7w?t=35m30s
So whats the hold up here?
All its doing is causing more trouble than what its worth not fixing these problems.
Goose said:You've got folk like me who want BGS/PP/anything in-direct PvP to be done in open due to the reduction in bad blood and toxicity it generates (as seen in that powerplay reddit post someone linked yesterday, or for example that rise to power poo throwing incident we saw with the UGC/Achenar Immortals 'war'), as we believe it would result in a mainstream return of fun player group mechanics, with the old Powerplay convoys/interception groups and the like.
You like that sort of thing, fair enough. Do you believe that forcing people into your preferred playstyle is more enjoyable for those people? If people already enjoy that playstyle, they would already be in Open.
So you assume that those who do not chose Open at this moment who would be forced into that will adept happily to what you like?
Again, for pirate to thrive they need other in Open who enjoy the interaction or risk of being pirated.
How long are GSPs going to try and stir up imaginary problems?
I had a follow up point to make and I'm determined to make it
So, here's a thought. When you want more players in Open to have fun, you would prefer them to choose to be in Open and discover they can have fun. I am assuming that you know quite a few people who also subscribe to the sentiment above. So why not promote that? Have an event where you set up exactly what you described above and invite players to join. Have players who are new to this be paired with players who know what they're doing and let them experience what you consider to be great fun. Now not everyone will take to it and they will go back to solo/pg and play as they're used to, but maybe a lot of players take to it and your numbers will grow.
Plus it creates awareness in a positive way. Instead of forcing, you're luring. Treat it as selling a product and having people have a taste. If it catches on, word to mouth will insure more inflow and a desire for more of these events.

Or you could attack the players you would like to see in Open as those who walk the path of least resistance instead of preference, blame them for cheapening or ruining a game experience. And label their preferred way of playing an exploit. All the while sitting back and waiting for Frontier to bar or penalise other modes to get what you want. It's an odd one involving everyone's least favourite thing: the path of least resistance, and how it can cheapen or ruin a game experience, particularly when its done in such a way it challenges the perceived spirit of what the mechanics were trying to achieve.
To me, solo and PG modes were trying to achieve creating a sense of controlling your environment or weeding out the undesirables. What it wasn't about was creating an impenetrable brick wall for you to hide behind while attacking others is exploitative, and should be handled in a similar manner to any other exploit. This is why people like me are saying "indirect PvP should only occur in open" not "Destroy all the modes! Everything should be in Open!"
are you suggesting that IF all your wishes regarding ED came true there would not be an entire boatload of folk currently happy (/tolerating) the status quo who would be up in arms?
IF that is what you are saying, well, that is your view and you are entitled to it, but i think you under estimate the number of ED players who do not give 2 figs about what mode other people do their business in so long as they can do what they want in the mode they want.
of course mayhap it is me who is wrong, it it will only be me and a hand ful of others who would be angry if FD did a bait and switch from what they sold me <shrugs>

direct PvP was only ever meant to be an optional extra in ED for those who wanted it, it was never ever sold in any way shape or form as a game where you HAD to experience it.
even in the arguably misleading bumpf (if you only read the front page of the store and nothing else) FD do not go that far.

It's an option. Let me know how that works out for you![]()
Oh there's a logic- and an agenda. The agenda is to strip everything that makes this game what it is and turn it into a COD-style arcade shooter or EVE clone. We all know it, but they continue to hide behind the facade of "emergent gameplay" and "player content" blah blah blah. I'd have more "respect" for their attitude if they were just outright honest with it instead of being deceitful with their intentions.
but then they don`t intend to make profit over 10 years do they?
Conversely, you've got to stop treating every poster you don't agree with as having an ulterior motive, otherwise, why would anyone who genuinely holds that attitude (like Withnail, John Casey, Jason or myself) want to engage in discussion with you?
If you look back through this thread you'll see several of the 'big' (by that I mean vocal) elements of the old Powerplay communities have been discussing what you perceive as an imaginary issue, rather than whatever we're calling griefers these days.
The only reason its an imaginary issue for you, is because it doesn't affect your gameplay.
Exactly, youre right here. If you dont care about other player factions, or powerplay effecting other people. Then why is this a problem?
