Elite Dangerous Issue Report - 07/09/2021

Supercruise news was never meant to be a place to show things about the game's development. Its original purpose was to tell everyone about community events, what's happening in-game (e.g. the current CG and lore happenings) and show community creations (stellarscreenshots, reddit highlights).
Then people complained that a series named "news" didn't contain any "news" (because those people think that news are just game development things).
so, if the supercruise news isnt for this, why did they put the issues in there in the first place?

Its a bit like the blind spot in eyesight I bet :D

I did ask Arthur if FD throw darts at my avatar, and he said they don't :D
I heard, it may just be a rumour - of course - that they have a clay Pigeon shooting range out-back of the office...

I am disappointed that one of the most voted on issues (Automated accounts are used to influence BGS and Powerplay) is not mentioned here. It is obviously a problem that many players want to see addressed. You might remember the Anti Botting Agreement with over 25000 signatories and the related coverage by the gaming press. Back then Frontier said they would monitor the issue and take steps to ensure fair gameplay. That is now months ago and the problem still exists.

The frustration in the BGS and Powerplay communities is growing and many people are quitting the game over this. So I would really appreciate it if the problem (which again is among the top 10 most voted on in the issue tracker) could be acknowledged by Frontier with the response detailing what steps are taking to solve the issue.

I don't think that this is an unreasonable request and I hope a good solution cam be found here, so that fairplay is restored to the BGS and Powerplay community. Communities which are among the most active and dedicated ones this game has.

Thank you!

I'm sure nobody would complain that Frontier are wasting their time adding minigames in taxis instead of fixing issues and adding depth to the game.

in a game that pretends it can cater to all gamer types with the same shared game ...you'll never have any solution that doesn't result in some fraction of the playerbase complaining. Everything is a compromise when you dont want to alienate anyone.

waiting for all of the (discovered/major) bugs to be fixed before adding new features is something that only works in a game that had that work ethic from the beginning. Not one that has been leaving tons in for 6+ years and has racked up a never ending supply of them. At this point, bug fixing just has to live in between the new features ...ever present...and always way behind.

So the fact that some people would complain that something is being worked on that isn't a bugfix to one of the many existing features already released in a sea of infinite bugs is like saying you'll play powerplay when it's completed and just avoiding all of powerplay forever. Sure, would it have been better to not include new features like space taxi's without a proper solution to this issue of what the player is supposed to do while sitting in? Absolutely. But they included it anyway without one. So they have options ...they could add filler content for the player to interact with or they can just cut that dead air out completely or they could do what they're doing. Obviously someone thought a good solution to doing nothing while being space taxi'd was changing your destination and continuing to do nothing for potentially even longer.

I would have thought the options would be filler gameplay (via mini games or inline old versions of elite, etc) or cutting it out completely and throwing a loading screen and dropping the player near the approach in supercruise via a "nap" option the player could select for any trips longer than 2 minutes. Yea...naps would amount to warping with time not elapsing for the travel but really who cares at this point? We have telepresence all inconsistently used everywhere already - i think we can deal with nap time warping players in tax's on long supercruise / multi-jump impacted journeys.

Any particular reason for this cherrypicking of the bug tracker? The community has clearly spoken about an issue that concerns them and affects them. Your flat-out refusal to even acknowledge it has left anyone affected by it completely up a creek without a paddle. If you're going to just ignore the votes whenever it's convenient for you, you're tacitly admitting that you're just using this regular post format to shore up your own public image.

Let me help you out:

"We acknowledge the issue and are aware of it. We are doing literally nothing about it currently, nor do we have any plans to do anything about it. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention!"

It simply isn't a bug, and bugs is what the issue tracker is for. A botting prevention measure is a new feature. And if that doesn't work, then that's a bug to report.
That said, I'd love it if there was a feature request tracker with voting system as well.

When asked for comment, a Frontier representative told PC Gamer that it "actively monitors and acts on any developments that might unbalance the Elite Dangerous Universe, or offer any unfair advantage to some players.

"Our investigation teams constantly monitor and will ban any players found to be cheating in game—the use of bots is no exception. We take care to ensure that the tools and methods used to detect the use of bots remain discrete in order to prevent malicious users finding ways to avoid them.

We are extremely grateful to players who have voiced their concerns over the use of bots in game, and encourage them to keep reporting any and all infractions they are aware of to our Customer Service team. Frontier wants to reassure everyone that we are committed to addressing these types of issue now and in the future."

There I saved Frontier 5 minutes time in dismissing the 25000 giggles anti-botters.

I am sorry, but that doesn't make much sense. The issue "Nothing to do during Apex" is not a bug either. So that can't be the reason, I am afraid to say.

Seems official to me that the Bubble now belongs to the bots and FD isn't going to lift a finger to stop them. It's just a matter of time and after spending more time than I care to calculate, trying to hold the front line, I'd rather just walk away now, than stay for inevitable arms race of the damn things. I'm sorry that I can't be more poliete about this, but I've absolutly run out of patience with this issue.

Wonder if they don't want to mark it "By design" as if having the only two competitive gameplay loops in your game be plagued by cheaters was a design choice :D
