Elite Dangerous Legacy (3.8) Is Now Available | IMPORTANT RELEASE INFORMATION

Clicking "upgrade" in the new launcher to try and install Legacy Horizons just causes the launcher to hang indefinitely completely unresponsive for me... Only fix is to eventually kill it from the task manager.
As an aside, several of the images on the galnet articles are not loading, but some are fine.

Took mine ~10 minutes to stop hanging and start the update. Try again and give it a good while, it'll probably fix itself eventually.

17 minutes since my latest attempt at launching it began I got a "Preparing to update" message, followed by a progress bar beginning to appear!

Since I gave that crappy Launcher a chance, my system runs unstable, firefox freezes every few minutes and even the task manager did not respond - or not launch at all. Need two hard reset in the past hour (didn't need any in the past two years). Great Job Frontier. THIS is why I play on CONSOLE!

Tomorrow I will try to remove that crap, hopefully my system will run again without reinstallation. For tonight, I'm done for!

just let the launcher do its thing

launcher is sitting for 5 to 20 minutes staring at the internet trying to utilize its version of torrent??
sometimes much longer

it started for me at a high speed using multi connections and after about 2 minutes went to 15 bytes per second.

guessing too many cmdrs all doing the same thing.

Just logged into Legacy to move my carrier back to the bubble & it all seems to be working fine now thanks :)

Lost my holo-me profiles, they just show a black suited & helmeted base avatar, I guess because my Cmdr was still wearing an Artemis suit when the split happened, I spent a couple of minutes recreating my normal avatar.

Got a fair amount of work to do to get my Legacy Cmdr & Carrier back to a place where I can leave them idle, there wasn't enough notice to do more unfortunately. Haven't used 3.8/legacy for years (more or less since the Odd launch), it's impressive how fast & responsive the UI is! I'll probably carry on playing the Odd version once the Legacy Cmdr is back home though, hopefully that one will eventually improve to the point where it's as good as or better than Legacy in every way.

I can't see any "first discovered by" or "first scanned by" tags at any planet anymore. Plus neiter have previously scanned nor this evening newly scanned planets so. Since there are (used to be) bonusses for first discovered and first scanned, I hope this is a bug and not a feature.
I’ll get some confirmation on this for you, Zaldo o7

Mission commodity rewards in Legacy (both Horizons and vanilla) are incorrect - i.e. capped at 2-3, while couple of dozens in the Live.

It is especially painful for commodities used in engineering like Modular Terminals.

To be fair that was the case before the update.
(Not saying it isn't a bug, it just isn't a regression.)

Stolen occupied escape pod thing is back, haven't seen it awhile.

IIRC, Horizon was available for all players, what main difference is now between Legacy vanilla and Legacy Horizon?

PS.Is it possible to get rid from scrolling window in the launcher? There is plenty room to make all versions clearly visible.

True. Waited with reporting it till U14 is alive, hopping it will be corrected. It wasn't :(
If it wasn’t reported why would it be looked into and fixed?

How do you know it isn’t Live that is paying too much?

Note I don’t do enough missions to know what they pay.

No, as far as I can see in my case, the problem with the launcher is that it does not check sufficient disk space prior downloading. It run the C: Drive full leaving the system unstable. Also the Download dir cannot be changed after.

I'll give it another try installing the launcher on D:

that is also correct
it thought it needed several gb more than was on my drive, yet it did not tell me this or stop.
it went through its motions only to finally stop and tell me it needed more space.
so I made more space, 20gb extra....and then it finished using less than 1gb.
it actually had the space, it seems to have calculated as though I had nothing installed...It also tried to install to the wrong directory.
all normal for the launcher...
it has always been off center, long ago I started saving it to a special folder, then I make sure it does what it is supposed to do.
But then I do that for all software, I refuse to let any dev decide where things go on my computer. That's my job. its my pc.
and funnily enough, I don't put anything on C:, ever, only the O.S.. that's just asking for problems.

you can change the directory

Ok, this didn't resolve this issue at all. Every few minutes, the launcher stalls the complete system for several minutes, then it appears normal again for a few minutes. While frozen, the launcher window is the only responding one. The download rate is around lightspeeding 5 MB/s, and it utilizes 0-1% CPU. Lowering the process priority doesn't help.
