Elite Dangerous need to get serious about Cross Platform.

This time you you complain about a player group in a different platform, you have still not grasped that fact that there is no mandatory Open only for BGS either, so all of this could as easily have happened by a PC player group only playing in solo/private group and you would be none the wiser about who that player group either.
It is the common misconception that 'make opposition ships go BOOM!' is the way to succeed in BGS... (apart from in a war, of course)
The only advice to the player complaining is to do more BGS actions than the opposition...

Simple...

Agreed, although I usually play in open most of my opposition is usually in group, and I don't have a problem with that from the perspective of actually 'fighting' with factions rather than directly.

However.

I regularly meet other players, randoms who may help me, or quite often other players also working against the same faction(s) as me. I don't use discord, I just play the game & do my negotiating in-game, which for another PC player I can do by sending or accepting a friend request & just chatting player to player. I can even see who has an interest in a system now via fleet carriers parked there and bounty boards, but for console players I cannot friend them, or even see if they are online in the social search let alone instance with them. I would like to be able to, and I would like them to be able to contact me if they choose to. Crossplay would help with that in the actual game. I suppose most do it via discord though, so the demand to be able to communicate in-game with strangers is not that high.

I would think cross platform chat would be a lot lower hurdle than getting us to instance togeather. There is a carrier in a system I frequent I'd love to say. Hi. Thanks, as its ever so conveniently parked.

Maybe a direct mail option with blocks and reports and no hyperlinks could be put in. That should be safe enough. It could even be opt in only, you have a message, read or ignore or ignore all until I say otherwise options.

I was given to understand, early in the development process from posts on this board by Frontier themselves, that whilst cross-platform is technically possible, the patch approval process of the different console manufacturers combined with the open platform of the PC would make releasing updates extremely onerous to organise and co-ordinate, since you'd need every client to be on the same version.

They... Already have to do that though

PC has a advantage over console players due to speeds and stuff being released as well as third party tools.

Ps4 has an advantage over xbox at the moment with the ability to block and unblock anyone without having to leave the game.

If you want true cross platform then fdev needs to ban all third party tools or at least ban the people using them and then fix the recent tab glitch on xbox (which has been their since the comms panel got updated).

Then make sure everyone is running on the same speed I.e FPS and stuff as pc players get bgs stats quicker than console

... and force other players to use a console controller also?

Only slightly biased requests there... Got a tablet or internet connected mobile phone? Then you have the same 3rd party tools available to the PC user... In fact, the browser on your console can connect you to the very same tools.

Yeah this whole "Woh unto consoles" is way overblown. There isn't anything to deal with that I wouldn't deal with otherwise just by playing on PC and not doing them.

Which, spoiler, I do. And strangely I haven't immediate imploded despite being in Open most of the time.

I think Modern Warfare kinda busted that whole "pc master race" myth.

Anyway, I'm for number 2. I have friends and family irl who play ED on different platforms, and it would be nice to play with them. Everything will be cross-platform in the future anyway, so let's make it happen fdev. Odyssey AND crossplay next gen would catapult ED right to the top, and marketing knows it. So get on it.
