Has anyone from Frontier said anything at all since the reveal?

I find it very odd and disconcerting they'd maintain total radio silence during the largest reveal of the past four years.
Something like this

I wonder how FD are going to handle the "lore" contradictions around telepresence?
Not really my mess to sort out, but if they read the current thread about players respawning explanations...
...there is a general consensus that something like a back up copy of the pilots consciousness is stored somewhere, and upon their death a new body is "printed" and the backup consciousness is "uploaded" into that body. Comparisons were drawn to Altered Carbon's "Stacks"/"Needlecasting" and Dark Matter's "Transfer Transit" technologies. It wouldn't be a hyperjump to say "Telepresence" works on something similar?

Fade to black and no boarding party is quite logical because space legs is not part of the core game it is a dlc.

If it is possible to board all ships it will make situation where player can board player who does not own the dlc and can't be able to defend them self. It is unfair as bullying people on a wheelchair who can't reply except if he is Dr Xavier.

The only way to make it possible is to allow all players to walk inside their ship but cannot leave it without to buy the DLC.

Other question, does Horizon allows to land on all planet (atmo including) or not, or atmospheric are limited to Odyssey? Making Horizon quite useless unless engineers are only on no atmospheric planet....

Can't wait for further answer and what will include this new season. Because I suppose it will be like Horizon and content will be split onto quarter. I guess the big release will be on Q1 with atmo and planet-legs and new cobra engine, may ship-legs and EVA will be on Q2/Q3/Q4...

It also ties in nicely with recycling the dead bodies into food cartridges. No need for algae when you have the real deal now.

The reveal was by accident, since it was a video uploaded to their Youtube account that was accidentally set to be viewable by the public - for a short while, but long enough that attentive folks downloaded it and posted it elsewhere.

That does explain why they haven't made much in the way of statements. Give them some time.

Here at 7pm UK time https://www.twitch.tv/frontierdevelopments/
This week, Tim and Stephen will playing some Elite Dangerous and talking about what is going on in the community.

lol.

It would make sense. HEV suit and decontamination showers would become for this update what the "planetary approach suite" was for Horizons.

I kinda wish they would re-write the lore so telepresence never existed and kept from shoehorning any in-game explanation for respawning to the game. As much as I like realism in games, death/rebirth of the character is one thing I can overlook (unless it's a game specifially built around perma-death). I'm willing to accept the players never die, they just have close calls and wake up in hospitals/whatever.

Will the NPC’s stand on chairs like they do in Star Citizen? :)
Haha, when this comes out, should get a bunch of commanders together in a building with chairs, everyone stand on them, take a screenshot, then post as mockery on the SC forums 😝

Right! It seems a lot longer than it's been. In 24 hours, they've leaked a video, freaked out behind the scenes, decided to release the video, then officially announced the update. That's actually quite a lot thats happened in a short space of time. It seems longer because we've all been F5-ing for the whole duration of that.

A watched pot never boils, as my gran would say.

I obviously hope for landable elws as well. But I'm almost more thrilled to land on an ammonia or water planet.

YES. My 10.5 fingers and 12 cloven hoof toes are definitely crossed for this. :ROFLMAO: Navigating an ammonia or even methane based atmosphere on foot? Definitely would make for extremely intriguing and emergent game play. Particularly because of the survival mechanic having to monitor potential O2 levels and/or your suit's charge/effectiveness. Imagine being able to manually harvest the gas atmosphere from your SRV (or ship) at surface based POIs if the atmospheric density was uniform at the surface.

Or if it varied around the planet's surface and the topology was too perilous to use your SRV: get the freedom as the Cmndr to use your brain and PROBLEM SOLVE aka a high replay value game feature that is increasingly lacking in gaming titles today. 😂
  • exiting your SRV and hiking down a perilous, extremely narrow and rocky ravine on foot. Harvesting said atmospheric gases at some sort of Old Faithful geyser or exotic fissure spewing gas etc. with your hand held sensor. Or
  • taking the risk and descending the dangerous ravine in your SRV so you can harvest greater quantities of gas product. Or
  • throw caution to the winds and fly your flagship 'Conda/Python into the ravine. Hoping that there will be forgiving terrain and room to maneuver and hover. Assuming you reach the bottom without a rebuy screen. Then
  • determine the best way to transport and transfer this valuable raw material to your ship at the top of the ravine based on your method of descent.
Be able to do all the above while simultaneously on the lookout for potentially hostile wildlife the likes of 'Goids and/or other players in the vicinity.

If you succeed in completing this sandbox salvage/harvesting (or structured NPC mission) opportunity and fill your cargo bay: have the option to synth the gas for ship maintenance, sell it direct as a raw material commodity, or refine then sell gas product derivatives for a better profit at the nearest planetary base or orbital station. The entire mission can be a PvE, PvP or combined PvE/PvP wing squadron game play.

There is a potential ton of emergent game play that could result just from this single game feature addition of atmospheric planets.......

Anyways. Won't get my hopes up for the reality of that beautiful pic though. Been damaged too many times. But I'll still keep hoping for its inclusion in future updates.

Also hoping FDev thinks to include several of these minor game play mechanics Keen Software added to Space Engineers a while back. Especially the Airtightness Overhaul feature which would be great for the upcoming base building feature in ED. Makes for a far more immersive and realistic game experience IMO :D

I would disagree. Ive spent too much time accruing what i have and would not enjoy a restart everytime i went boom. I probably would have moved on 2 years ago
Depends I guess, it certainly makes you a lot more cautious and would be a lot more inline with the genre of the game

Instead of uninstalling, why don't you just not buy the new update instead, as you're obviously not that interested anyway. The main game and horizons will still be there. I don't understand while you would instantly uninstall when you don't need to buy it.

Because as of Dec/Jan I pretty much stopped playing due to idiotic changes that became just too much hassle and grind for me. I’ve kept the game installed in case the very late fleet carrier update or the late new era update turned out to be interesting but with passive upkeep the FC update is a bust and if he new stuff doesn’t contain any game play FOR ME and doesn’t support VR which is really the only reason I play this game by the time the delayed new era update comes out it will have been over a year since I stopped playing and it’s probably time to clear out some space on the NVME drive for better use. If the next 2 updates have no content that’s of interest to me it will have been at least 2 years since FDev produced anything I found interesting....which leaves me with 2 options: gank noobs for teh lulz or find something else to do for entertainment.

Well it looks like I'll be holding off buying VR until it's confirmed by Frontier.

I had planned on getting one as part of my PC upgrade near the end of the year.
