ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous | Odyssey: Roadmap

I don't know what I was expecting honestly. Megaship looting still doesn't work. I'm more upset in myself honestly.

Just.....let it go, Commander. Let the hope go. Accept that bugs like that will never be fixed. That's what I did months ago.

They recently fixed an issue with Megaship lighting but didn't fix Megaship Piracy, which has been broken since April 2020 and screws up an entire scenario. But Megaship lighting is obviously a priority issue and effects gameplay more.

That tells me all I need to know about development on this game.

Ah ok, so I'm reading through this thread, and I'm at the point where someone is calling me "too negative" (didn't take long)

I'm just going to keep reading, I'm sure there will be a post in a minute telling me I'm a white-knight shill.

Toxic Hater Fanboi Shill, that's me. 😂

One day people will all make their minds up which one it is. It's actually hilarious to be accused of both things at the same time, for the exact same video! 🤡
Didn't they bribe with a flower pot to be nice :p

Did it have Bill, Ben or just a little weed? (oi younger mods... that was a kids show btw)

Odyssey review scores and Frontier's share price have shown that the existing company policy is no longer tenable. The demand for more, better quality Elite content is clearly there with substantial game/expansion/ARX sales, record player numbers, and social-media activity. Maybe it's time for David to exert his authority, bring the Board Of Directors in-line, give Elite the developer resources it needs and deserves, and get Frontier making the top-quality content we know it can
But like you just said: Frontier shares and player numbers are higher than ever. Why would Braben "exert his authority" and have the team do a better job when the current "build-it-ship-it fix-it-later" formula works so well? If Odyssey (and fleet carriers) have proven anything, it's that after a long enough content drought, any content, no matter how shoddy, will be seen as good content, and people will pay for it. At least in Elite's case.

We were promised, at release, a game that would work on the same hardware as horizons, at the same performance. That was Dr. Kay Ross' answer when asked directly, on stream, just before the alpha started, where she also explained why the alpha would not be able to meet that criteria. Does what was released on May 19th resemble this? Does what we have now after several patches resemble this? Does this "roadmap" give us any reason to believe the promised product will be in our hands soon?
Maybe, we'll find out in a few weeks. I'm assuming that they are investigating what the issues are.

This is what this road map is for, the major issues and optimisations. That's what we are getting.

"we feel the best approach for all our Commanders will be to focus our development efforts after Update 5 on performance and the console release"

This will destroy the game, waiting this long to fix the primary issue should be unacceptable to EVERYONE. Sad that we even have to be here as all this should have never happened.
maybe you and Ant can put some sense into FDev and save them from themselves. This is madness....

So just to get this straight Frontier.. Next week you will fix stuff, the week after that you will fix stuff, and the week after that you are going to fix some stuff.

And then start working on fixing stuff for the console release.

Less of a road map and more of stating the bleeding obvious.

Thanks

See... that sounds exactly like the sort of thing a white-knight-fanboi-too-negative-hater-shill would say ;)

So, I went to David's thread and copied the exact phrase stating the roadmap.
Our plan is to publish a road-map by 4th June as we continue to push forward addressing issues, including giving some details on specific improvements, building upon the fixes the team have already made. (bold letters from me).

I don't know you, but I think we got exactly what we where told.

Nowhere is it stated that the roadmap was going to be more than a list of specific improvements.

Can we all please calm down now.

This absolute joke of a roadmap frustrates me, but what frustrates me even more is the forumdad apologists who keep trying to make it seem like this fiasco is the GAMERS' fault.

The people trying to white knight for FDev border on flat-earther levels of insanity.

Yup, we got exactly what I thought we were going to get with the road map. Seems people read what's planned for the road map, then completely ignore it, then make up what they want in the road map, and then expect that. It's utter madness in these forums.

Yes. And the details for some specific improvements are rather underwhelming. Suit loadout and suit livery are pretty small changes. The fact that they listed those indicates that bigger and more important issues are not even on the agenda.

Sometimes not saying something says a lot.

There is a word for your kind of attitude.

Speculation.

There really aren't anyone doing that. Everyone is saying there are issues. But it seems many can enjoy the game regardless of the issues.

As to the roadmap. We got exactly what they said it would be.
