Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 7 Notes

OK? Didn't know that, thx. Although that doesn't really make it better :D

Also: never had this problem before.
Yeah, it only makes it not so horrendous (which technically is better, but still...)

Also, yeah, from what I've read, it seems the stalls have become more common (ie, many more people experiencing them).

WOAH, that melty planet!!!
So the interdiction bars missing (theyre actually offset) is a known issue and I already popped that in the 'known issues' list for you in the 7.01 update notes for you when I set them live :) Always check those so you're not feeling the need to report them here if you see them :)

BUT

The melty planet certainly wasn't in my known issues!!! Grabbing that screenie. Thank you!
Ya know? i looked, i read, and somehow managed to completely miss it.

Silly rabbit.

Really sorry about that! you totally have permission to me at will if you ever see me in game

I haven't seen anybody else mention this but I've been getting this bug since update 7: In space combat zones I'll randomly get locked into a vector at max speed for a few seconds I can rotate as normal but I'm stuck travelling in one direction and boosting or using my throttle does nothing. As you can see in the video, I'm stuck travelling backwards for 12 seconds despite hitting boost (558 is my max boost speed and I should only hit that for a moment and the thrust arrows are pointing backwards on the throttle section). This happens 4-5 times per CZ in odyssey, I've never had it happen around stations and I've had it happen just once in Horizons.

Not sure it is related - noticed couple of times npc ships at res sites were moving unnatural (like multiplayer lags), while there were no other commanders (according to info panel/history).

Another issue I experienced was with GalMap - if you spend plenty of time looking at different systems/planet surfaces (e.g. looking for closest interstellar factors) after ~5 minutes my PC got stuck completely without recovery so I had to end Elite task in windows task manager. I also noticed that click on every subsequent system was taking larger delays until showing system information. Not sure though if it was first introduced in update 7.

I've heard of this happen from other cmdrs too.. not experienced it myself though but I know it's a thing.

Hope it's been mentioned but in case it hasn't, market network isn't going up. Again. I presume same goes for black market. This makes getting invitations to some engineers impossible among other issues. Again.

seems to me youre "trying" to be funny OP with the notes in orange...and despite this, at least you guys are actually trying to pull a NMS with Odyssey.

As in... a shocking launch, but fixing over time to the point its actually a decent game to play.

Be wary on speaking on behalf of others, especially when invoking the CM Ping 😁

Instead of adding to the tidal wave of pings that Sally has to weather, could you visit the thread linked in my signature and do your bit for VREDO bugs? Some of the issues you’ve mentioned are already Acknowledged by the Devs and can be voted for, but others still need independent confirmations.

My particular VR bugbear at the moment came in 7.01 - Spot Shadows have become linked to head movement. Issue report is here: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/42911 (there are two duplicate reports as well) and you can see a bit of the problem at the start of this video:
…which is for another bug, the disappearing SRV shadow: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/42913
I know your post is about the shadow issue. But what I noticed is that it appears the SRV is still using the pilot seat rather than the SRV seat in horizons. This is one of the biggest criticisms fdev received at Odyssey's launch and its still not fixed. Honestly, how hard could it be to replace an asset within a model with the correct one? The only thing I can think of is they completely lost the horizon's model and have to remake it from scratch.

My (and other's) gripe comes from it honestly looking like crap. It is painfully obvious the pilot seat was never meant to be in the SRV and just comes off as lazy and/or rushed. This is something that should already be known within fdev's team and shouldn't require its own post within the issue tracker.

I linked the SRV seat issue report (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/33957) in my SRV shadow report - it’s been Acknowledged so at least it is on the list of stuff to fix.

Once you’re in the SRV the correct seat model is being used though I think an incorrect shadow is still being cast. That’s one thing I didn’t look at closely, so I might add that to my report after I’ve checked.

Edit: although there’s a square bulge on the base of the seat shadow I’m not sure if it’s the ship seat shadow. When the full shadow kicks back in after disembarking, there’s just enough difference that I can’t say for sure it’s the wrong one. One thing I did find though: going into the camera suite doesn’t reinstate the full shadow.

It's hardly the only 3d asset issue; for instance, I reported the Gutamaya chair pilot controls models being wrong during the alpha too, and that isn't fixed either. To be honest, I think they had bigger issues to worry about. I'm sure it's on the list somewhere.

I have some nice paint jobs also...
